This clip should be called check the facts, this bill will give workers the choice of a card check but if they want a secret ballot they can have it. If anything it takes away employers freedom to intimidate workers. Why do you think they are fighting this so hard? They dont care about your rights so the secret ballot.
you think your boss gives you health benefits, pays you a living wage, and let's you work only 40 hours week (or pays you overtime) because he's agenerous guy. Puhlease.
Yes . . . stop risking employees' lives and unionize! That way, there will be far less actual work being done and hence lower risk of anyone getting hurt on the job. Maximum pay and benefits for minimum work and quality . . . who wouldn't want that??!! Look at how well it's worked for GM, Chrysler and Ford!!
The union is a parasite that uses propaganda to enable its survival. I say this as I work in a job that was once unionized. Unions have destroyed public education and the auto industry.
At Wal-Mart, they talk about safety every day. At Schneider National, they talk about safety every day. When I was in the Air Force, we talked about safety every day. It is in a company's best interest, from a cost standpoint, to create a safe working environment. Accidents are expensive. The safety issue is a red herring. The real issue is that unions are not popular and they need to find ways to survive. This whole issue is about survival of unions, not free choice or safety.
Dan Boren is the son of former U.S. Senator David Boren, an anti-labor right-wing Democrat, good friend of the Bush family, and Skull and Bones member. Boren resigned from the Senate in 1994. The year earlier he was being outed by gay activists and accused of sexually harassing his male staff members. Dan Boren is the grandson of deceased former Congressman Lyle Boren, a racist and anti-labor Democrat. Oklahomans need to uproot the corrupt Boren dynasty.
"Anti-labor" is a stupid term used by stupid people. No one is "anti-labor"...just think of capitalists like me as being "pro-choice" when it comes to workers unionizing. Just think of my slogan as "keep government out of our workforce" when we oppose government giveaways to union thugs.
Jobs for votes is immoral, and screw you if you call people like me "anti-labor" for taking a moral stand.
Democracy in the workplace. That's what joining a union means, and that's why capitalist vampires fight to the death against their employees gaining a voice. Don't be a coward and a mocking bird with all the "comrade" and "socialist" crap. I'm living the American dream because of being a proud 20 year Teamster. You think any workers at Wally World believe they are living their American dream? Don't think so. And people are afraid of card check? You want a better life, sign the card at home.
Democracy, with your potential union bosses seeing how you vote?
Yeah, pinko...Saddam Hussein had a similar "Democracy" in his country.
Why are YOU afraid of letting workers have a private vote?
As far as workers at Wal-Mart "living the American Dream"...are workers at Costco? And why don't unions whine about McDonalds not paying insurance benefits? Is "labor" too proud to flip burgers?
If you're a hard worker, you don't need a union to back you. Pure and simple.
First of all, I don't have any union "bosses". James Hoffa is actually an employee of mine. He's an employee of myself and the other 1.4 million Teamsters. Sign the card if you want a union, simple as that. You and the rest of the card signers can still ask for a private vote. So what's the problem with that? Oh, I get it! You greedy vampires can't stand to see workers partake of the fruits of their labor. Capitalism doesn't create middle classes, Unions do. You been PINKED!
Open vote = open to intimidation. And that's EXACTLY what will happen when union thugs (who have a long history of intimidation) move in. We even have test cases before the law is passed. Google "Video Proof that Card Check Leads to Union Thuggery."
For someone who I'm sure has repeated all the standard union talking points for years... for someone like you to be so hardheaded, so incapable of understanding that argument shows you're a closed-minded hypocrite.
Just two comments. Whether or not you think this ad is heavy-handed, there's no doubt that workers who are represented by unions are more willing to challenge unsafe conditions that workers who do not have union representation. Second, the Employee Free Choice Act does not take away secret ballot elections. It just transfers the right to choose secret ballot elections from the employer, who now controls the process, to the workers. And don't confuse "secret ballot" with free and fair elections
The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.

this is so desperate. so long as they're trying to tie any unrelated anecdote to their campaign to remove democracy from union elections, why not go big? for instance, "x company in louisianna doesn't allow unions to bully their workers, and then...katrina. coincidence?"
This Legislation is NOT going to be something that rank and file working class Dem's are going to allow to be killed by Blue Dogs, Republickers or the anti- Union lobby. Should a Representative calling him/herself a Dem vote against the EFCA he/she can expect to be targeted for a STRONG primary challenge and hopefully voted out.
A workers vote needs to remain private. This is America not Cuba. Next you will want our presidential votes to be open to the public. Unions NO!

The workers at Meijer, a large regional unionized retailer, are not better off than those at Wal-Mart. Actually, all retailers pay low wages.

You forgot to mention how the ballots to vote union are no longer private under this legislation that you are pushing for.
So, in other words, a union can intimidate and coerce workers who may decide that a union isn't the best choice for them.
Stop being thugs and let the workers decide. You remember workers, don't you? Those people you claim to support?
