I was on the roof of this place a few years ago. One of my favorite things to do ever. It was crazy as hell walking through there. You're always thinking you're going to fall right through a hole in the damn floor to your death or something. On the roof there was this chimney with a ladder up it. The only way to get to the chimney was to walk across a very scary chasm. There was graffiti all the way up the thing. It was crazy. I'd go back anytime.

It would be great if the owners could refurbish the building into apartments or an office building. However because no one wants to locate their business in Detroit, neither option is feasible. The best it could be is low-income housing, and for that you might as well not fix it up, because the people who live in low-income housing don't care about taking care of the property. After all, it doesn't belong to them, so why not trash it.

Detroit is by far the scariest city in the US, I grew up about an hour from there and have since been to Harlem, DC,Atlanta, San Antonio, L.A., Chicago, Vegas West and south side of Phoenix, St Louis just to name a few and even the worst of those can not compare to downtown Detroit, Im not bragging for it cause it is a shithole and a very dangerous place,

I see this guy was with friends but even then they could have been ambushed inside this building and killed ,it is truly another world

The guy who owns the Station wants to restore it, but he keeps having to fight the City Government, who wants to tear it down. Fortunately it is a historically protected site, so they can't. It's an estimated 80- 300 million dollar effort to restore it, and until he can find an actual use for it (investors and viable business), it remains this way.

know of one person who turn a 8 bedroom house into a rooming house

for people who cannot afford or find housing. he rents out 7 of the room for $250 per month to people on SSI who cannot afford a house of their own..

he made it into a non-profit foundation. all the adminstration cost he can charge. he gets better treatment form the city.

you can always form a church and put the propperty under it. It will be tax free

Keep in mind that in the same era when these great building were built and in their hayday, some of the worst working conditions existed, people were tortured and killed in prison, and the two of the three deadliest wars of all human history took place. I'm coming back to Detroit just because of this place. The last time I was in the D, I never knew about this place. Had I known, I would have definitely came up Michigan Ave. to take a few pictures of this magnificent structure. I would like to see the interior but I don't want to go in alone or unarmed. I really would like to see this place before it gets demolished, hopefully it gets renovated, that would be awesome!

In a few years most of the air service will be gone a victim of high price of fuel. Perhaps we'll have higher speed rail service. I guess the speed to Chicago is to go up back up to 110mph again. Like when Michigan Central ran it. Amtrak's business is very good. With alittle investment, it could really be great.

this is a great way to give people a look at the interior. the building was built in 1913. and the police station proposal was shot down. It is said because the building is part of the National Historic Building Registry it can't be demolished, but there is still talk about demolishing it as an "Emergency"

The building needs to be renovated and reclaimed so that no more devastation can be done to it.

Yeah - I've been following that. I guess someone sued the city because of a law protecting places on the register of historic places. If anything maybe it will delay it getting torn down.

If this place were in Grand Rapids the cops would be all over it, or it would be turned into condos for assholes.

The stairs to the roof can be dangerous if your not watching what your doing.

Everytime I have gone in there I have ran into some homeless sleeping in there. Please, for anyone that goes into MCS, be careful. Dont get hurt or die and ruin it for everyone. Remember, that body they found last week in the warehouse elevator shaft encased in ice, is right next door to the train station.

i been in the train station a few times. its the shit at night. if u go u need to have people with u cuz there are crack heads an other people running around in there. u can get in under a vydock were sheet metal is torn off and grafetti says troys house. the floor has holes in it and the stairs has missing steps. go all the way to the roof because its a beautiful veiw of detroit.
