Yes if your child is obese to a point where the skeletal structure can't support the weight and internal organs cannot develop properly - we are talking child abuse. In extreme cases in the US morbidly fat children have been taken away from their mothers. And I think quite rightly so if the alternatives are severe health problems or death.

This cat does not appear to weigh 41 lbs. I have a fatty cat who weighs about 21 lbs, and he looks about like this one. At least the cat is able to jump up to the low shelf, that is a good sign.
