Every time I listen to Elvis sing, I can see my grandmother (who raised me and was just about totally deaf) laying her head on the desk where I kept my phonograph. She would take all my Elvis records and put them on the phonograph and listen to them as Elvis was her favorite singer. Elvis, thank you so very much for the comfort and entertainment that you provided not just to me, but to my grandmother. I will love you forever. You are the absolute greatest!

Listened to Gerry's version. Very nice. I guess I'm used to a version (Roy Hamilton's) which showcases just an astonishing voice. To this day I find it almost unbelievable that someone could sing with such power and range.

I respectfully disagree when people say no one can match Elvis singing this song. Listen to Roy Hamilton's version of this and you will see Elvis is literally singing Roy's interpretation....only Roy has better range and a better voice. Elvis was very, very talented and had an outstanding voice, but he didn't have Roy's. He also idolized Roy and was heavily influenced by him.

@lindeycloud Hamilton had a nice voice and his version is a nice pop version, but Elvis put far more emotion into his, and it's obvious. This is just Elvis on piano. That's it, and it's intense as hell. There's another take from Elvis that's longer where he really rips it to shreds. Takes it to another level and truly makes it a blistering gospel.
