  • wow that woman in the intro with the book should to porn

  • snooze alert!

  • Don't buy it. There are bad people in all cultures. Also these women sound high.

  • I don't know what she's talking about. ITS A NICE HOUSE! LOL!

  • I think this woman is full of crap! I personally know several amish people who are very honorable people who work hard to take care of there family. Part of being amish is tresting others how you want to be treated and they do a very good job at it. I have worked a many day with the amish and been around them alot and I love there way of life and how they follow pwace with all men.

  • This is pure crap. I have a LOT of Amish relatives and the stuff she's saying is pretty rare. Most of the children are not living in fear. And the statement made at the very beginning about her now experiencing "self actualization" is simply a code word for new age beliefs. This is an attempt to do ONE thing. make money selling a book.

  • Jeez, who is this highly annoying woman (the 'reporter')????

  • All I know about Amish women is that they don't shave their underarms or legs and they wear funny old fashioned Granny underwears.

  • Danl Yoder calls this a lie of hell..CAVEAT!! This woman was never Amish...carpet on the floor????? yeah right!! and these women are showing what they really want to show...their flesh and their disobedience to wholesome morality. CAVEAT!

  • Danl Yoder calls this a lie of hell..CAVEAT!! THis woman was never AMish...carpet on the floor????? yeah right!!

  • self-actualization? What's that?

  • how big are the chances of becoming an amish myself??they dont seem to accept outsiders that much, have been thinking to go to an katholic cloisture for peace in my mind and in my life, i love it.

i dont care what religion, as long as it involves god in my life and as long as i can learn, i know everything by now, i want peace in my head and being with god.

  • what a sad thing... The Amish are a wonderful loving people. My family is WONDERFUL and I love them and they love me. I know NOTHING of this persons story. I never knew fear only love. It sounds like this family was just not christian, does not have anything to do with the Amish religion.

  • Thank you for your comments, my friend! There is much beauty in the Amish culture, but you are right, it has the good and the bad just like the outside world . The difference is it has been hidden and NEVER talked about, and, until now, has not been acknowledged. That denial is now changing, thank God! There are MANY very Godly,spirit-filled Amish people, such as my own family who are very honorable people.

  • Wow. I dont think Ill be going to Lancaster anymore, some of them amish are creepy and you can tell they dont want outsiders around. But the abuse the author went through just doesnt happen in the amish world it happens here too. I am glad she got out of that lifestyle hard to hear because it always looks so picturesque.

  • You need to research the New World Order. You have no idea how bad it is here on the outside. Just because there was abuse in your life, we suffer it too. That's not just Amish. Many people's dad's beat the living crap out of them, like mine. Many men beat their wives, not just Amish. I don't know your point. That's just spousal abuse. Watch some of my videos, and you'll know why my family has joined with Mennonites.

  • @awarepatriot Hey, just curious, what kind of Mennonites did they join? My parents are Holdeman Menns, and there are a lot of ex-Amish in their church, but it's very interesting how the Amish traditions continue to be a part of their life.

  • THE INTERVIEWER IS SOOOO FAKE IN HER INFLECTION OF VOICE AND EVERY QUESTIONS SOUND SOOO PLANNED.

  • So bad things happen to different people of different cultures however, you cannot define the entire group by the grievence of a few.

  • self actualization is part of what is destroying this country. Rubbish, self-serving whiny and trivial. One woman's self-absorbed views.

  • wow this video is pretty far off, idk about other areas but i am related to and asociate with the amish community here at home quite a bit and its not like that at all this sounds like al ady with issues and an exhusband with issues that blames all her past on the amish, it is unfortunatye that all that happened to her though

  • 'the children are quiet and well behaved because ethey are full of fear' - what a rediculous comment! I have spent time with amish families, and every single child i have met has been happy, confident, rascaly, fight with siblings, just like the non-amish, but respectful of elders - no fear! they are quiet in church because they have been taught to do so. they are just disciplined properly, not full of terror. Im sure there might be the exception, but fear is certainly not the rule.

  • @ggirl489

Respect is pretty much borne of FEAR,think about it.

When i was small i obeyed my father, because he was BIG and a REAL THREAT to me.After maturing and question my own beliefs and morals, which didn't really benefit ME,i questioned why i internalized them and the answer is FEAR.To constantly question and challenge IS by apparently EVIL.As soon as adam and eve THOUGHT for themselves, developed conscience, they were EVIL beings.People will respect thereselves FIRST unless FEARFUL of othe

  • @smallpeckerman 'respect is born of FEAR'?? the definition of respect is esteem, courtesy, worth, excellence, privilege etc, look it up before you make such a comment. When I was small I obeyed my parents because they were my elders and knew best, not because i ever feared them. And read other peoples comments - the majority agree in disregarding this womans experiences as the common one for amish women - she is an unfortunate minority, which you will find in all cultures.

  • @ggirl489 How else they could not be respectful...? If not, they could get beaten, humiliated and rejected... This kind of parenting is acceptable in different parts of wold and being used in others even if its not, but it doesn't help to grow children to be self-aware or understanding - it only makes them follow ideals of someone who has power to inflict fear. Of course, no need to worry, even children like that still can learn to be happy, confident and rascally, if thats all you care.

  • @ResuEmanon what you say is true for all cultures - there are those parents that will beat, humiliate and reject their children, but why do you believe this woman that all amish children are treated this way? its rediculous. yes, there will be unfortunate cases like this woman, which is sadand horrible, but most parents, including the amish, are not this way at all. Me and my siblings grew up getting a smack on the butt (not beaten) and we are not violent, unhappy or fearful and never have been

  • @ggirl489 You might have spent time with them "but you don't live with them"

  • @CerebralMadness and you do? the fact that you're using a computer tells me you don't, as 59acres said above, I'm sure abuse does happen, as it does in all cultures, but to give the impression that it happens to alot of women and children (more so than in the rest of american society), i just think its misleading. but We're all enititled to our own opinions are we not?

  • I will admit that having come from an Old Order Mennonite backround, and I have known OOA's that I am glad that I was OOM, in Virginia. Even though I am no longer an OOM. I think there are good and bad in both sects, as there are good and bad in the outside world.

I do believe that women are better off in the OOM's than the Amish. I believe at least for the OOM's in VA that men and women both have many more freedoms, while still being plain.

Just was moved to make a comment .

  • Hell yeah Bitch, Get your ass in the kitchen and bake me a pie, Damn-it! Ha, Just kidding. My wife would knock me over the head!!!!

  • I have an Amish background and this woman's experience is like something I have never even heard of. The women and children are very highly valued in all the communities I have ever lived in. I'm not saying she is lying, but programs like this upset me because, though I left, I do not want the general public to think this is the norm.

  • THE AMISH DO HAVE PHONES AND TVS AND GENERATORS IN THE BARN I HAVE SEEN IT 1ST HAND I HAVE HEARD THERE BUGGY STEREO SOME EVEN OWN AND DRIVE CARS

  • she talks like a 5 y old

  • MOUTAINSTANDARD, YOU COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG. ALICE IS A VERY GENEROUS, KIND PERSON WHO GIVES ENORMOUSLY TO HER COMMUNITY. SHE IS IN NO WAY PREJUDICED. THE COMPANY THAT SHE AND HER HUSBAND OWN EMPLOYS PEOPLE OF ALL ETHNICITIES. EVERYONE LOVES ALICE. I GET MANY COMMENTS ABOUT THIS VIDEO BUT THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS TRULY ANGERED ME.

  • @AmishGirl12 Do the Amish have a ban on the caps lock key?

  • Alice Marin is a nightmare. She is harshly critical of the Amish. I suppose she hates Jews and everyone else is isnt a WASP.

  • i think she's not at all saying the amish are more violent than non-amish ... as i understand it, she's saying that amish women, if/when they do get abused, are far more helpless than those who are not amish .. because they cannot get help, they are treated like they don't really have a say in things, etc., and what's perhaps the worst of all is that they just take it and endure it because they truly don't know another way of dealing with it

  • @MissLupus , thank you so much, that is precisely what I'm saying. My sister and I are guests on a talk show this coming Friday evening, May 28th, on a show called Cornerstone TV in Pittsburgh, at 1pm. I extend an invitation to everyone watch!

  • I'm sorry if she was abused but it's really not that extreme. I grew up amish and for the most part don't agree with any thing anything in their beliefs. Their pretty much a cult. Still no need to demonize them. Abuse is no more common there than anywhere else but does happen. Stop being a drama queen. If your husband beat you, charge him and move on with your life. Your clearly in bondage cause you can't let go.

  • I am so sorry for the brutality of your relationship with your husband. So sad, but no denomination or culture is without fault. I still highly admire the Amish, but I do recognize there are messed up people in all walks of life.

Something I didn't know, you have carpeting in your amish homes? I thought it was just scatter rugs over hardwood.

  • Children should be well behaved and have fear but also love...Look at our kids in todays word, they are crazy , disobedient , no respect for elders. Its sad our modern world has lost all morals ~ Amish maybe strict but they are hard workers, respect others ...I hate American society they way our schools can no longer discipline .

  • what a horrible 'interview'. exploitative and cruel.

  • There is abuse in Amish families. Wake up people. There is child abuse and spouse abuse, as there is in the English world. I praise Lucinda for coming forward.

  • Thank you so much for your support and kind words.

    Regards,

    Lucinda

  • @momsspot you dont know the Amish around where I live

  • Amish people are nice and gentle. They are not as she said. Please youtubers listen with caveat.

  • I had many many Amish neighbors in Iowa...they did have phones there...In phone shacks separated from the house. Another community a few miles away had phones at the schools, but no personal ones. I've driven neighbors to visit family and to attend weddings and funerals in other states. Everywhere I've been, they have had access to phones...even the old order Amish.

  • I agree Nataiep101, sounds way to staged for me, and knowing some of the Amish that I do, where I live here in WV, and MD she stated about having carpet in her home as an Amish, and that is not true in the Amish life, just someone trying to get PR.

  • @robmatthew66: The interviewer mentioned carpeting, not the ex-Amish author.

  • This whole interview sounds/looks totally staged. This reporter is awful and Lucida looks like she rehearsed her lines. Lucida is simply taking advantage of the fact that Amish people keep to themselves. She's just trying to make money. By the way, the clips of an Amish woman reading to children is fake because a real Amish person would not appear on camera (they think it's vain). Also those who are claiming they are Amish on YouTube are frauds, they don't use computers. Stop lying please.

  • If you think this is staged, think again. This woman is for real, even tho she dresses quite "english" and has been out of the amish culture for awhile she still has a bit of the amish accent. I am proud of her for being brave enough to leave her abusive situation. AND the clip of the amish girl reading to the children is real... anyone who knows the amish well can see that.

  • @futuremysteries

. I don't need to know Amish people to know her accent sounds American, not the German (Pennsylvania Dutch) influence that Amish people speak.

  • @nataliep101 - My parents were amish and my family still speaks dutch so I believe I can recognize remnants of the amish accent when I hear it.

  • I can't speak to this womans experieces but the Amish people I've met are not viloent people. The woman especially seemed to me self confident out going people. They had no qualms speaking to me on their own voilition.I was selling at a farmers market and I sensed no fear what so ever in any of them.I'm not saying this women is laying>i"m sure abuse does happen..peole are people ...but to paint all of Amish culture with the same brush like she does seems wrong.Remember she is selling a book!!!

  • im an asian amish from london.xD

  • and in case you wandered how I posted this I am a bit of a rebel I have a laptop I run off of a battery and solar panel

  • marginalization of women ha ha your funny! how about this I,ve been wanting to leave the amish for 4 years now and my wife sez NO she likes it here! but trust me if I leave I won't try to make money by running down my Mom, Dad and all the rest of my family! you freaking goldigger

  • I am appalled by your vile language. Your words are precisely reflective of the marginalization of women in your culture, as evidenced by the way you are speaking to me.

  • @allenmiller3

    >I am also amish.

    >Internet

    >Computer

    >Irony

  • Interesting....Awfully leading questions.

  • The Amish farm/compound is a microcosm of North Korea. In general, the Amish locate their communities in remote locations to buffer women and children from information about the outside world. In North Korea, Kim Jong-Il and his regime guard against western influence in much the same way. The philosophy is simple..."If you don't know how good your neighbors are living, you'll continue to abide by my heavy hand of oppression." One day the US gov't will dissolve this practice.

  • The only reason this stuff is allowed to continue is because its carried out under the auspices of religion. Otherwise, many of the Amish leaders would be in prison. This is basically a well-organized labor camp. It's America's version of a gulag.

  • The children are full of fear? I grew up Amish, and still am Amish, and I have 40 nieces and nephews, all of whom are very happy, well-adjusted children.

  • You mean "well-oppressed"...not "well-adjusted."

  • Actually.. I mean well adjusted. Unfortunately, you seem to be too prejudiced to appreciate this.

  • I'll correct you again. You mean "well-oppressed." And if not subscribing to a way of life that dominates women and children like dogs and starves them of education is considered being "prejudiced"...then you're damn right...I'm guilty.

  • Right. You're Amish and posting on youtube with your personal computer that works on electricity.

  • that just shows your total lack of knowledge about the Amish. As I said in an earlier post, I have an office for my business in town, in which i have access to the Internet

  • Romans 12:2 states not to be part of the world, and electricity links you to the temptations of the world, and the Amish live a life literally interpreted from Bible texts. It is because of this that I do not believe you, and think you're posing as an Amish person to try to prove a point on their behalf. I can understand you having empathy toward these people, and perhaps you were Amish at one point, but I do not believe that you are (still) Amish yourself, unless you're a Mennonite.

  • Which is why I have a computer at an office seperate from my home, rather than have one in my home. What do you need to see, a picture of my horse? Seriously, though, I really don't care if you believe that I am Amish or not, because the bottom line is, there is a huge misconception about us and the way we live, and that is my reason for posting.

  • @paperboi007 okay ur amish? but ur on the computer??

  • she is amish but why tear at the amish? why write a book ? dont think your master got you any jobs so you had to write a book. If you are ever amish you are always amish! If you are amish you do not have carpeting ! Amish Girl 12 you know that the any amish church would condone any men beating on women.

  • I agree, the Amish Church condemns abuse in any form. This is not to say it never happens, but not to the extent that she describes here, and probably a much smaller percentage than in the rest of society. And no, the Amish do not have carpeting in their homes

  • The Amish are the white people's version of Muslims. Nothing like creating a religion so you can trash, dominate, and oppress women.

  • The Amish operate their farms like concentration camps. It's the ultimate form of oppression.

  • I don't believe this woman was amish. She doesn't have any accent of the amish dialect.

  • Oh, yes, I was born and raised on a large Amish farm in Indiana. I am Master's degree educated and therefore have likely lost my accent along the way.

  • No way you are amish.

Who do you think you fool anyway?

I do believe this woman was amish. Luckily not all amish community are the same.

The reporter is pretty terrible in that job.

  • oh I'm amish alright and I showed this vid to my wife an guess what!!!!!!!!!!!she knows this bitch

  • You have just been given 5 stars by amishdeception video's. Good luck!
