Instead of filtering out the mid-high range of the kick, you shoulda just left it and layered it over the top of a deep sub kick, so you still get your "thud" but for those listening to the beat on something with no low end like laptop speakers for example, theyd still hear the mid-high click of the kick so theyre still aware of where the kick is
