  • what happened on rr aka raindbow road?

  • A race.

  • i mean at the end diddy kong or whoever that was flew off the track and the race ended

  • Oh, that. It was a connection problem. The game thought that everyone else is driving straight all of a sudden, and after some time with no signals from anyone, the game ends the race and pronounces me the winner.

It happens on occasion. Some people cheat by doing this every race.

  • I know what you mean. I was playing online today, and my VR fell from 8200 to 7800 in three races! It sucks because I was in first place during most of those races, but each time I got hit by a blue shell during the final lap :( oh well..

  • you drive good. 5 stars for this video

  • What is VR?

  • VR stands for "Versus Ranking." Everybody begins at 5000, and when you play online, your number increases when you do well and decreases when you don't do very well.

  • Ok, thanks. I wish I had MK wii :(

  • verses rating

  • This makes me really want to get back online in MK Wii. Managed to get my online race score up to around 9000, but haven't played since. I'm rubbish at battle mode though.

  • This is a pretty random one for you to watch.

  • Well Overhazard, when you think about it, you really wouldn't want to wear a strapless dress while driving. I mean, you'd get so cold! But, I can see where you were going with that though...

  • She still wears that strapless dress in this game. I think it's a trsdemark of hers.

  • She does? It doesn't look strapless.

  • From what I can see, it IS strapless. I'll look for it the next time I play as Rosalina then.

  • Hmm...Well, I just played using Rosalina (during the character select mode), and it didn't look like she had a strapless dress on.

  • Hey Do you still go on Mario Kart? Im asking because you haven't made any Mario Karts recently. To stay on topic of this race I will say nice driving! Also I would like to race you some time if your up for it. My Friend code is 5026-5155-1432 if you want to race just tell me.

  • Yes, I'm stil playing Mario Kart Wii recently. Just check my recent videos.

  • The Luma is so Cute =D

  • Ah, so it happens to you too?

  • Yeah, I played MKW a couple of nights ago, and now my VR is back down to the 6800s. I'm really not too concerned about it, though it does frustrate me when there's always someone in every room I go to who decides to seek me out and follow me around to hit me with stuff.

  • People with very high VRs will get that treatment too. I guess it happened because I was on my way to the 8000s. People prefer to see other people lose than to see themselves win.

Anyway, the fac that I've lost so much VR in a short amount of time has taught me that VR isn't a big concern for the game. It's just a bonus, and a bonus too unstable for me to take seriously at that.

  • Oh, I see what you mean. The trick is to not really be too concerned about VR anymore. It really isn't that significant, and Mario Kart is not really well-suited to have a ranking system anyway considering it's so easy to sabotage people.

  • How so?

  • like you said about Nintendo it needs to fix the server because today (6/6) when i was playing wifi everytime it disconnected me. but the good news i got over 200 VR points bringing me to 8000 (finally).

  • Or you just have bad luck. When I was in the 9000's with a star I can't remember being picked on like that.

That really sucks that something like that happens to you. D:

  • One tip man: Right before you reach this barrel on Maple Treeway I recommend doing the ''blue'' miniturbo instead of the ''red'' one because I have noticed you reach this barrel with the red one and you basicaly don't boost anything. I hope this is helpfull...

  • I'll give that a try the next time I race on Maple Treeway then. Thanks.

  • They even stop to go and hit you? Are you sure you're not just being paranoid, because I'm sure any reasonable player who knew that you were a famous Tuber would want to beat you, not just stay back to relentlessly hit you lol. I can't even imagine that being a scenario but if it is, then I truly feel sorry for you, good sir. =(

  • Oh, it does happen. When someone slows down to a standstill in a race, you can see it happen, and it's hard to mistake.

I've made this observation by seeing when I get assaulted: I make a mental note of who it is who hits me or does these stupid mean things to me. It turns out it's usually just one or two people per room. Usually, it's the same person over and over and over.

It's probably because I have a climbing VR and because I have the Golden Wii Wheel with the star.

  • Wow, that sucks about your huge drop. The most I've ever lost was around 500ish before I got at least back to where I was before the drop. Good luck on getting it back up!

But yeah, VR is highly inaccurate in relating to skill, since such a large part of this game massively relies on luck.

  • Well, I'm currently at about 7300. What I found out is that it's not that I get singled out by everybody, but by one or two people in a room. They pursue me relentlessly and devote most of their effort in knocking me back in any way they can. I've even seen them stop to get in my range.

That's why I'm going to jump from room to room more frequently, to keep the faces fresh and unfamiliar and to avoid these people before they start messing me up. I'll see if I can get back on my feet this way.

  • i like using rosalina in the honeycoupe: its gold and looks like the trophy kart from double dash

  • I thought the same thing when I saw that combination.

  • The disconnection problem is still at hand. Last night I was in the middle of Bowser's Castle when suddenly "The rankings have been determined so the race has ended." Nintendo must have a problem.

  • How do you record this. My movies are only filmed on the computer :o

  • I use a video capture device, and it IS recorded onto the computer.

  • hey overhazard how do you get that kart

  • Your very good with Rosalina. I wish I can unlock her but I suck at the Mirror Cups especially the Lightning Cup and I dont have Mario Galaxy ;_;.

  • Awesome! You left them in your dust!

  • It's crucial to look into the distance to see where the cars are in relation to the boosts. I've memorized how long it takes them to move back and forth, so I rarely get hit by them now.

  • In my opinion VR is very acurate since you cant just judge a person for a bad race, if they had a VR of over 9000 is because they've won enough times, i think you are really good its just that often items give you bad races. :(

  • Precisely. That's why VR is inaccurate: the items can skew a race's results greatly.

  • And I thought Rosalina was the quiet and calm sort.

I like the Luma by her side.

  • COOL

  • Like Rosalina here, there's an alternate way to get Manaphy without buying anything extra, which was to visit Toys R Us in the USA sometime in May last year. They're doing it again this coming weekend (May 31st and June 1st), except with Darkrai.

  • "Barby Pute" means "Barbie Bit ch" in fernch, in case some people don't know

  • It does? I didn't know that. I guess I can see what type of person this player was.

  • execellent

  • What's VR?

  • VR stands for "Versus Ranking." It's supposed to be a way of approximating how good you are at Mario Kart Wii so other players can have an idea of who's favored to win the race.

  • ...the Rosalina comment was disturbing.

  • Don't worry about your "VR", it's nothing more than a number. ;)

  • I know. That's why I only get mildly frustrated. Even without VR/BR, it still frustrates me when people decide to single me out.

  • You're not the only one. Every time I reach a VR of 9000, I always seem to have a connection problem. thankfully I only dropped to 8888 instead

  • Oh, it's not a connection problem. People start ganging up on me. According to my License record, I seem to get hit with about 1.5 to 2 times more items than I get to use them.

  • You are not the only who has suffered the Disconnection Crisis, I've been trying to play Wi-Fi for about 3 days and still haven't had a decent stream of races.

But its the VR/BR which really gets me angry, as you may end up losing loads of points for a connection that you didn't cause. I too hope Nintendo are fixing their server problems.

  • I had forgotten about Maple Treeway, but I remember it well now. I didn't put up much of a fight after I slipped over the peel you laid at 1:51, but I was at least a comfortable 2nd place. Will and Bryan didn't put up much of a fight, and I was certainly too far away from you to hold you back. Fun race though. I like Maple Treeway.

What happened to you on Rainbow Road is what happened to me tonight. I guess these types of disconnections don't count against anyone's VRs.

  • It was weird, since Will and Bryan (not Mark?) DID put up a good fight in Toad's Factory. I guess they practiced on that stage the most and would thus repeatedly pick it.

Yeah, that was indeed my Banana Peel. I wonder if people go aggressive on me because I do stuff like that while I'm in the lead.

I don't know what happened with these types of disconnections. (You can see one in my Favorites, the 1-minute long MKW video.) I think it's the server itself completely losing coordination.

  • They did put up a nice fight in both Toad's Factory races, but so did we. I wonder if they picked it a 2nd time for revenge since we both beat them in our first Toad's Factory run. One of them won the 2nd race there. After that, they changed their track.

Also, I just realized how much I run into people by watching this. I'm such a klutz!

I actually thought that guy's name was Mark too, but I happened to catch a glimpse of Bryan's name at the end of the Maple Treeway race.

  • In that case, it's Bryan. I'll go fix it.

I thought I did a lousy job in both of the Toad's Factory races, but then again, I could be wrong. Will turned out to be the most aggressive driver when there were a lot of people though. I often got hit by him, and I sometimes trailed behind him looking to see what he'd do. He fires all of his Triple Shells right away or waits for people to pass him to shoot them. He also swerves wildly to hit people with Stars or Mega Mushrooms.

  • Nintendo's been having online problems even before Mario Kart. We all remember the Brawl fiasco, and it'll happen again in Europe.

  • Those usually came from Brawl itself. Its online mode was not programmed quite as meticulously as the rest of the game. Mairo Kart Wii caused these disconnections to happen with every Nintendo Wi-Fi game I've played since April 26th.

  • 2nd :( u won me by 5mins nuuuuuu
