This is really cool, crazy that you found burials prior to 1958 considering that is when MN became the 32nd state when that part of the state used to be part of 'The Wisconsin Territory' right on the border of the Iowa territory. I wonder how many people lived in MN back when it became a state.
Yes, 1858, I mixed that up a bit. 15,000 is a small number, I feel that the city I live in is small and it has more people than the whole state did. I'd venture a guess that most of them were natives rather than pioneers before the population doubled.
Have you ever seen or heard of the pioneer cemetery in Little Canada? I found a makeshift map on an old tombstone in the catholic cemetery off little canada rd. I think it might be in spooner park somewhere.
that DOES sound familiar. If it is what I am thinking about, I thought it was near Gervais Lake or Gervais Mill Park, but either way, that is just a block from Spooner Park
I'm hoping an automobile history buff will stumble across this video and be like, "that there is a Nineteen-something-something VW Bug, you can tell by the _________" ...I randomly looked up the 1964 model and looked at the interior, which is strikingly identical, but the Classic look probably stuck around unchanged for a long time.
That metal looked like it was a little rusty. I think it was probably galvanised steel, which is often called "tin," though there is no actual tin involved; the steel is plated with zinc.
It actually looked more rusty through the camera than it did up close, but there was very minor corrosion. I wonder when that metal frame was placed there... Can the galvanisation survive 150 years in this climate?
Awesome, I'll definitely have to try that sometime! I was at one at night on Halloween once, there was a little bit of moonlight out and there was fog on the low parts of the cemetery... it was quite ominous!
Well if I was in Vegas I probably would be exploring abandoned mines in the mountains... the thought of which is even more exciting to me! Though the risk factor would be far more dangerous...
Yep :D Spur of the moment exploration with a fellow YouTuber, risking three counts of trespassing each, as well as the risk of an encounter with a pack of brushwolves or a lone cougar, which have been spotted several miles away but close enough for caution.
Yeah, there's definitely a thrill factor for me! The abandoned car was an unexpected treat.
Oh yeah, and the risk of falling through ice; the risk was there but quite minimal due to recent sub zero temps
Cool place there ,

You mean 1858? :) I did a quick search and found that the Population of Minnesota Territory in 1850 was 5,354, not counting the Native Americans.
Aha: by 1858 the population had tripled since 1850, so roughly 15,000 pioneers.
Hard to fathom when today the Twin Cities Metro Area has about 2 million people, and the U of MN alone has 50,000 students!

That was a cool tour. Back in the day we would go see a horror movie then check out a local cemetery.

I totally wish I could do that! I love graveyards, but I don't think we have any old ones like that in Las Vegas.. bummer.

Aluminum wasn't really available until after 1900. Nothing like a whole lot of snow to make things difficult. Congrats on your new car John!

Yeah later that evening I started wondering if it could be Tin instead of aluminum. Maybe zinc? ("Tinc:" Tin/Zinc alloy ;)
Haha, new car! Whoever put it there did a heck of a parallel parking job, being surrounded by all those big trees!
