I hated this LP when I bought it. I was expecting the "Blue Note" Jimmy Smith, Now, some 30-odd years later, I'm digging it as some cool cocktail lounge type stuff. Not "The Sermon", but better than what's offered now.
Hey, am there with ya!! Thank Gawd for the oldies, and yes I grew up with this song. 16, and riding in a baby blue cadillac convertible on a warm spring day. it was sooo good
I had my first listening to this today... after spending the past weeks digging Jimmy Smith's 1964 LP, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf"...which is an Absolute kKller!!. ...all 7 tracks are here on YouTube. anyway.....
Now, I remember my parents playing that 1964 LP years later...and I was old enuff in 1975 to buy EWF's LP with Cant Hide Love and I gotta say that having now been re-schooled on Jimmy Smith, I can def appreciate what he's done here on Can't Hide Love.
There can't be many artists who DID NOT do a cover of this great toon. Of all the versions, this one and the one by Creative Source are just stand out tracks!!!
@IrrepressibleGuile unfortunately it was only a dream LOL, I wish I had one of these...but it's gonna be true one day...I already live in french south coast so that's a start.... :) lool
@vbierry Im sure your dream will come true, as for me, next summer if im still alive I'll be playing this crusing in my black tiburon, not as nice as an elderado though lol
Only 18 comments!!!! WTF come old school jazzfunk lovers rep the old school... this is what i'm talking about... tunes like this are over 30 yrs old & still standing strong.. I dont think we will mention tunes of 2day like that... Real artist play real instruments which leads to "REAL MUSIC" 2days artist can i say "NO TALENT" Love my old school.. Peace
it was Afreeka Trees who did the vocals on this amazing track. Ive got the LP on vinyl and would kill for a copy on CD - been waiting years though so it probably wont happen which is a great shame
how to comment this, such a beautiful album A-Z...My place in space...
