Me mum has got a cd of freddies, witch she got in a second hand shop bless her lol, and his voice is the closest to elvis than anyones ive ever heard, hes got a great voice.
It was a hampster and ONLY a hampster and he admitted in an alan titchmarsh interview early this year tht he didnt do it, it was for publicity, and even if he did do it the man is still a legend and funny as hell!
Used to have this programme taped from TV. Wore it out. It was filmed when Freddie was on tour in the West Country. Would LOVE to find another copy. Anyone any ideas?
saw him at Wakefield Theatre Club, I am a miserable bastard and he made me ill with laughing, briliant, he did Perry Como too with the too relaxed chair bit.....happy days, ta F and this site...
Freddie in is hay-day, I saw Freddie Starr many times and he was a very talented guy, it was such a shame he went off the rails, I will always remenber his tribute to Elvis and the album the Spirit of Elvis he recorded, its a shame you went the wrong round in life freddie
A great singer. He does Elvis really well. Unfortunately, he took the piss out of Elvis - something he would never do in the past. He had an inflating jumpsuit and said Elvis was fat. I lost a lot of respect for him after that. He would always sing Elvis songs straight and seriously. He also has a good voice, as proved in this clip.
So talented I agree but how come he got forgotten and shafted? He was so unpredictable, but that is what made him so special. I think there was a lot of Mary Whitehouse snobery in those days.
The reason why he got ''forgotten and shafted'' is because hes a product of a ''Goldem Era'' of comedy ( called the 70s )that has completely forgotten. And we are only reminded of that era when we see genuis like him. PC ( spit! ) people would rather stand around analizing comedy than just laugh at it. TG we have DVDs VHS and Youtube to do what the PC brigade HATES us to do. LAUGH.
Amazing, where did you get this from, I remember this being on tele a long time ago and I have been looking out for it ever since. Any more clips from the early Freddie?
Elvis himself said that - of all the gazillion imitators - Freddie Starr was the best !

Freddie Starr has made many people very, very happy. A great entertainer and - like all of us - an imperfect man.
