Lol, now that's a pretty ignorant statement to make. Any carbon bearing molecule has greenhouse capabilites in the form of a gas. Carbon retains infrared radiation, which is essentially heat. Do humans release carbon unnaturally in CO2 and CH^4 emissions? Yes we do. To say that there is nothing to worry about, or that greatly increasing carbon bearing molecules in the atmosphere is great, no matter how slowly, is a very ignorant position to take.

Kent Hovind claims that due to lunar recession, the earth can not be older than about 6,000 years. Hovind claims that the moon would have been zipping around the planet just a meager one billion years ago, or less.

Kent is dead wrong about lunar recession, simply because the moon has not always been receding at a constant rate, its rate of recession is speeding up.

It is physics, the moon's rate of recession is speading up, as per the velocity formula that I am going to provided you with. Hence, the moon was not always receding at the same pace....if it is speeding up.

V = √GM / r ( if you would like me to demonstrate, ask )

The moon was never that close, it has too much mass. At a mass suitable to sustain that orbit, the moon would have to be exponentially smaller, otherwise it would reach its escape velocity, and simply leave earth's heliosphere.

What you are left with is V = √39.9x10^13 /3.84x10^8.

In other words, the moon has to travel about 1040 m/s along its orbit just to maintain a perfect circular orbit, which it does not maintain. The moon travels only about 1020 m/s. This is due to the fact that the moon encounters tidal friction with the earth, and is consequently slowing down. The process of lunar spin-down in turn increases the rate of lunar recession, very slowly.

The tidal friction that the moon encounters with the earth is due to the moon's eccentricity of orbit at 0.055, and its inclination to the ecliptic of 5.1° it is slowing, which again, causes recession rates to increase.

Sure, okay, now the equation's variables represent this layout ( so that you can cross check me ). Velocity = √Gravitational Constant x Mass of the central body / radius of the satellite orbit ( in this case the moon's orbit )

When you substitute the variables for the appropriate values given the system in question, ours, the equation runs like this V = √6.67x10^-11 x 5.98x10^24 / 3.84x^8.
