WOW. I'm familiar with Aled's singing from the Pie Jesu CD but this piece knocked me for six. I think I may even prefer it to Richard Bonsall's rendition since Aled is at ease on the high notes whereas Bonsall's are a little forced. Aled's singing is intensely emotional and coloured with a personal style -- more like that of the boys in the Better Land series of rereleases than that of the English cathedral and college-chapel choirboys who were Aled's contemporary.
