There are several variants of it, all of which are transcription start Nikolai Nekrasov's poem "The Peddlers" (1861). The tune was written to the tune of the Hungarian dance czardas
Erm, to the person who said it was unnecessarily loud, you're kind of being a jackass. You didn't listen to any of their other arrangements or you would have noticed that this was the fault of the video recorder, not the orchestra. But, you can just be a jerk if you want.
This is actually probably the worst orchestral version of the Tetris themes I've ever heard. Honestly. It's a neat song to hear, neat to play on various instruments, but where's the other dynamics of musical mastery in this arrangement? It was all unnecessarily loud. For a University, I would expect a lot more.
I don't even know where to begin on this one. In the beginning, the snare drummer makes it sound like he's flying through some 5/4 hell hole with some of the fills, trombones are way under their partials in a lot of places, and what the hell is a phrase?
I wish they wouldn't call it Tetris theme song. It is Korokeiniki, not Tetris. The Tetris theme A is actually in melodic (correct me if I'm wrong) minor, this is just major.
But, not many people actually KNOW it's caled Korokeiniki. It is just commonly known as "Tetris Theme" becase that's what everyone recognises it as. Don't be so critical... it's still good music. =D
In Russian, it's called 'Коробейники', so it's 'Korobeiniki' for everyone who uses Latin letters. And no, the tetris theme is NOT "Korobeiniki", it just derived from it and sounds very different if you know the original song and the Tetris version.
korobeiniki ;) There are several variants of it, all of which are transcription start Nikolai Nekrasov's poem "The Peddlers" (1861). The tune was written to the tune of the Hungarian dance czardas
Mynameisnotalfredo, consider yourself corrected. First of all, it's Korobeiniki, which is similar, yet not identical to Tetris theme A (which is why Tetris theme A should be called Tetris theme A, and not something else). Besides that, this performance features Tetris themes A and B.
I play trombone and electric guitar, but the only song I played guitar for at our last concert was Halo. I'm also arranging some of the songs we're playing next semester.
Awesome! The problem is, a few weeks ago our officers made caps on all the sections and the trombones are full... but, if you were to join it would give me an excuse to play only guitar.

Only Teris B is the true "tetris music". Others are adaptations.

It's not like you would die if they call it like that. It's been popularized as tetris theme, so it will stay like that for a while.

How can you not hear the minor third in between the sixth and seventh scale degree? It's obviously Harmonic Minor.

It was good, but me thinks they sped on some parts. I would take it a little slower on Type A on the song.
12357951 3 years ago
They're not performing the Type A, this is Korobeyniki. Russian folks song, the original score for Type A. :)
Still love the Type A, with techno feels. Cheers!!
