IF YOU LIKE THIS SONG.. OR IF YOU DON'T... AND ARE FEELING RATHER BORED... OR RATHER CHRISTMASSY ..
ME AND MY GOOD FRIEND PAUL, SPENT SOME TIME IN HIS STUDIO AND RECORDED A FABULOUS COVER OF THIS SONG IN OUR OWN STYLE! AND <3 <3 <3 !!.. MADE A LITTLE FESTIVE HOMEMADEY MUSIC VIDEO! ;D
i KNOW THIS WILL PROBABLY BE BLANKED... BUT IF YOU'RE CURIOUS.. :) COME AND CHECK IT OUT ;D
I don't know if I like this version more than the 1984 version, but I can definately say I like this version better than the 2004 version... That one was just bad
I Was born in the 80's well 1985 actually in Swindon and growing up in England I then i didn't realize how much of a nice poverty free life i would ever have.
Hope that God will help them in need for the rest of their lives and God Bless you all. xxx
they shouldve had lisa stanfield tom jones bros and cliff richard on the original one coz them four are in a totally different league to the rest of the singers lol merry christmas all :D
i like this one. some good singers in it, stansfield. sonia . all of them are quite good. ps i saw this just on a music channel. not sure if i have ever seen it before
The irony of this version of the song and its video is that the performers are illustrating EXACTLY what the song is saying is wrong with the world: They're laughing and smiling and dancing around, and seemingly oblivious to the song's heartbreakingly serious message. It's almost like they don't even recognize what the lyrics say. And the way the song was arranged, it is practically indistinguishable from your standard '90s pop/dance song. No wonder this version never became popular.
I love this version, but i have to agree with you the laughing and messing around does remove the whole reason this song was made. one minute they are messing around laughing next they are showing pictures of children crying. bit wrong really! but out of all the versions done of this song (vocal arrangement wise) this is my favourite.
Just saw your comment re Band Aid II. I may be a little biased as I am an early 80's fan and a humanitarian. I agree entirely on 2 levels.
1. The pupose, the selfless commitment and lack of ego/self conciousness as captptured by the original version was not matched at all by this version.
2. This video encapsulates all that is wrong with 'pop' from the sound used that manufactured dance crap, the use of pretentious/talentless but pretty 'artistes' with no soul, no clue about the wider world.
Love the original...the best.

hm, don't think I've heard this one ever or have forgotten about it! Very glad to hear it, thought it sounded good. Way better than Band aid 20.

Have to agree this is easily my fave version.
I think it's shameful the way this track has been erased from the collective memory of the country.
The radio NEVER play it, and it very occassionally turns up on the pop channels on SKY, but very rarely.
And Kylie looks lovely...
