*Corrected* Its official, DL and MK from 6 am local time 2/29 to 6 am 3/1 is the way it'll be. But Opening 2/28-Midnight going into 3/1 wouldve been cool. But the way they used Dick Clark's show to announce it was EPIC - the first commercial with 5 minutes left of 2011 then the 24 hour thing 5 minutes into 2012...

They used to do year long promos. Year Of A Million Dreams, Free Birthday admission. Heck, in the 80s Disney World gave a car away everyday for a year. So this one...pretty weak compared to other promotions.
Wishing we could visit in 2012 but will have to wait til our first disney princess is born (mid 2012) and then go on her first magical birthday. So excited for new changes coming to Disneyland, Walt Disney is the greatest man that ever walked the face of the earth and it gives me chills everytime I walk through the front gates and know he once traveled through them and probably still does. Aside from which, it's supposed to be something that's never been done before and Disney has done plenty of buy 5 for the price of 4-type campaigns.

It's confirmed. There will be more events in 2012 related to the campaign, but the One More Disney Day refers to Leap Day specifically in which both Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and Disneyland will be open '24 hours,' I.E., not closing at all on the night of February 28. Disneyland has done this sort of thing before, but I don't believe Magic Kingdom has. Certainly not both simultaneously.
Yeah, my first thought was that you get an free extra day to the park with the purchase of a ticket. It's really generous, but I guess they're banking on the fact that people will sometimes not be able to take advantage of the extra day because of work and school, etc? I guess we'll find out for sure soon!

The commercial I saw implied "What would you do with one more day". To me that is adding an extra day to the package

They say it is something the parks have never done before, and DisneyLand was open for 24 hours in the 1980s to celebrate their birthday. Also, why would they make such a big deal on Dick Clark's program, the parade, the internet, etc for a promo that is on just one day of the year

But I really hope you're right and it's something much more than a one day event. Their Let The Memories Begin promo this year was pretty lame. And not many people were even aware it was happening.

This is probably the worst kept Disney secret ever. Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland in California will be open 24 hours on February 29th in honor of Leap Day. Really not much of a stretch for Disneyland. They hold a number of Grad Night events every year where the park stays open all night long. Been there, done that for the Cast Members working this event. But it would be fun to see the sunrise over Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Could be a couple of different promo ideas. The rumors are 24 hour day on Feb 29th, or a plan where they give you one more day (hotel, park, etc) if you book a package. Another idea is if you book a package in 2012, they will give you time toward a package in 2013.
I'm going to be in Magic Kingdom on New Years Eve...this should be interesting! Wait, if I won't be able to watch Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve, will I even get to hear the announcement?

I think they are going to have Multiple Days during the year (Some Weekends,Summer Days) where the Park is 24hrs. Starting on Feb 28 into Leap Day.
