Turn the key on an old geezer like this that's been sitting, without cleaning the tank and lines, and you get a fouled fuel pump and carb within just a few minutes. Alt. is to disconnect the fuel line at the carb and pour fresh, leaded gas down there by gravity, just to see if it'll run. But, "let's hop in Old Bessie and see what she'll do" is definitely the WRONG prescription after 3 or more years.
@50zcarsman, i find that very wrong. my 1978 lincoln has sat since 1983 and i drove it off tthe guys property and 6 miles to home. i have recently looked at my fuel filter and it is clean. blows through just fine. and its the origonal ventury one to. maybe its just a good old fford product? also, my father bought a 50' golden hawk that has sat for 36 years, and it runs clean too.
It's amazing how many old American cars are all over western Europe. This sounds like Holland. Another car from the '50's brought over by a serviceman.
ya know....this car could not have been sitting all that long.....notice the tires at 0:20......non stock newer racing tires....notice the bold white lettering
you do realize they could have put new tires on so they could drive it because if it was sitting you most likely couldn't drive out with the tires you put it in there with.
@trainboy414 no most tries last, you see old 20's and 30's tracks and wheels with tries still have air in them, had an old bmc ambo flat tries been sitting good 7+ years pupmed them up still stay up, think your thinking of them when they've gone and have no tread
Yeah, I noticed the white letter radials too. I doubt this car has been parked for decades. If it had, it probably would not come out of the barn under it's own power. It would need a bit of work to start again.
the closest thing to a "barn find" I ever had was an old lady selling me her 1965 chevy Nova II, station wagon out of her barn.....she drove it seldom and just wanted to get rid of it. This was in about 1980 and the car only had 65,000 orig. miles on it. It had a 2 speed automatic and power steering. It was GREAT car after doing a little work on it. But....sadly the Massachusetts winters and salted roads finally took its toll and I had to sell it.
Congratulations from France for your find! sounds GREAT .Nice project.

Look at the hood. The dust has not been disturbed. Working on the engine, you would wipe some of the dust off...
