im a stars fan and this series I will never forget.Joseph played really well but I was wishing early in the series hitchcock would of made a big move early in the series to let arturs irbe be the starter.Moog was clearly struggling the whole series and there was reason to make a change.People I know forget that although it was an upset, but dont remember that the oilers were up in the sries 2-1 and 3-2.The stars did not make the playoffs the year before either.
"MARCHAANT! SCORES!, MARCHANT SCORES! AND THE EDMONTON OILERS ARE GOING TO MOVE ON!." Never get tired of that, always have a big smile when Marchant scores. And small tears of happiness for some reason.
@HOCKAKAY Yeah Cuthbert's great too. Have no idea why CBC released him and has the vastly inferior Canuck Homer Jim Hughson doing lead play by play for them.
Edmonton deserved this so much. Kudos to the management for assembling such a solid team with so little money. I think that the Marchant goal and the Joesph save will always be more special than any of the cup wins. A well deserved win for a great blue collar team.
I was in the upper deck behind the goal where Marchant scored. I knew when CUJO robbed Nieuwy we were going to lose. I put a curse on Edmonton after that game that still lasts to this day!
till this day ice never been so excited when the oilers scored....i remmeber i was 10 years old at the time and me and my brother were jumping on the bed we were so happy.....great game
i know as an oilers fan in buffalo i was like holy shit what a save by cujo, cause of him marchant & the oilers won, i couldnt believe it i went crazy, cujo also is a legend in oilers history as well, when the oil was down 3-1 to the avs & he stole game 5 & shut out the high powered avs in game 6 &7 he cemented himself in oilers history....people forget that with out him the oil would never make the playoffs during that era.
@yeeps31 oilers released a dvd set called ten greatest franchise games and this was one of them. If you are too cheap to buy it I imagine a torrent exists
in his day, cujo and the dominator were certainly the two best in my opinion...both, as you know, have really trailed off in recent years, but hey, it's gotta happen sometime.
What a moment. I can watch this all day long!I remember as if it happened yesterday. I nearly urinated on myself when Cujo made "the save". My heart was racing, sweating soo much I had to remove my Oilers jersey and splash some cold water on my face. When Marchant scored, I flew out off the couch and started jumping and yelling on the balcony! I had to be restrained and held down by my friends, both Habs fans. To this day, they're still convinced I would have jumped. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!!

@NJD3vils30 Bob Cole is probably one of the two greatest hockey announcers I've ever heard, Gary Thorne being the other.

@zdurrant That kinda stuff was tolerated from time to time back then. No way that doesn't get called in todays game. Definite penalty

What I couldn't understand was how everyone skated over to Marchant and not Joseph. No one went to Cujo? Wow.

with today's rules there are about 6 hooking penalties in this clip.
jmiller006 3 years ago
And I wouldn't be suprised if Cujo stopped all of them after the first penalty after seeing a save like that!
