  • Gas was 1.38 per gallon in one of ur photos...

  • @rkansas1 is it safe to live there

  • @supersaleh1000 I never been there.Employment is the real key with relocating...Check out their Web Newspaper or the local crime line. It's a small city so i think it would be one of the better places to check into...gl.

  • Visited Ashville today, and it was nice!I just hope it doesn't get overpopulated and lose it's coolness due to it's popularity. That kinda happened with Austin, Texas. Also, there seemed to be some druggies walking the streets. Also, overpopulated is probably the wrong word.

  • Must be an old video GAS $1.43

  • not to mention the fact that if you try to tell someone from there a viewpoint they will say things are looking different from outside ....peace guys ,i wanted to say more but better like this....

  • really ,i read for a while comments and i keep wonder....rednecks,yankees,gay,black people,hippie....are you still in the 60 s or what????the war its over for long guys and the black people earn some rights ....i am not from usa ,i am not black,i am not spanish but i really dont get it !!!!YOU are the most democratic country who fight for "human rights" and who want everything to be good all over the planet ???!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHA......you make me laugh so bad,you cant stand not even each other!!!

  • @nixxy31 i live in asheville and everyone gets along with everyone. I cnt remember the last time there was a riot. Thats why i wann leave. Too boring

  • @XifyouhavetoaskX You wanta leave,,cause there's no riots ?? I worked in Asheviile in the 70's at WISE radio when it was a rocker and I loved Ashevile, I lived in a RONDETE up the mountain off Tunnel Rd,,heading outa town,,,there was a nite club up the mountain called THE SKY CLUB,,I often wonder if it's still there. Bruce Elmore Sr was a lawyer I had there. Disc Jockey Little Joe Brown was a friend of mine.

  • This city scenery makes me proud to be a young man from Asheville, North Carolina! Check out my vids, wheneva u get a chance to!

  • i can't wait to move here :)

  • I live in mars hill and LOVE this place, great people, great veiws and great bud!

  • sexy music.

I'm considering attending UNCA next year :]

  • @LubricatedBeat You should go there! My parents have worked there for 16 years and are probably going to be moving out soon since we're getting a job up in Minnesota. I've pretty much lived on that campus for most of my life (16 years to be exact), and I'm telling you, if you have a GPA of 3.5 or more, you should go to UNCA.

  • @darkmachete :[

No 3.5 for me, never took high school as seriously as i should have. But i'm very well read and spend the majority of my time reading, writing code, composing electronic music, circuit bending etc.

I just love how unca is the only sane community in this state. I'm from Seattle and i really need the chill, liberal, vegetarian environment.

    What do i do?

  • @LubricatedBeat That sucks. Seattle is beautiful! I have a few family members up there. I remember going to the Pike Place market, and one of the guys there threw a stuffed fish at me. It scared the shit out of me since I was in 3rd grade when it happened! But I bet if your GPA is close to a 3.5 you could probably get in if you work something out. You'd love Asheville if you need a groovy chill place to hangout. Outside of Asheville sucks because it's full of racist republican rednecks. :(

  • @darkmachete well there's always suicide.

  • @LubricatedBeat Suicide is for the weak. You shouldn't do it.

  • @darkmachete Lubricate Please do not say that suicide is fdor the week, its very unthoughtful you never know if some one is reading your comment that lost a loved one to suicide,,and BW its not for the week, Please think about it.

  • @Clemburke1111 Very true. My fault. Btw, it's darkmachete your talking to. Not Lubricated.

  • @darkmachete Dark sort of true,,The bible belt is very difficul but Ralieigh Durham is very liberal.

  • @darkmachete Sure glad i'm one of them "republican rednecks" rather than a Liberal Hippy Fag. Not many of us from fairview, fletcher, arden and the surrounding areas are racist. If you gets your head out of your ass and actually take a look around you'd know that.

  • @Mctaggart6412 Your not racist but your prejudice toward, Liberals, Hippies, and Homosexuals? And buddy I've grown up in Asheville my whole life, I know what's okay and what's not. Let me tell ya, there are fewer Republicans than Democrats that I like. A few are well educated I can admit. However most I've met are very racist, and my guess is that since your afraid of hippies, liberals, and homosexuals that your just a tad bit racist yourself. Just a guess though.

  • @darkmachete I'm not afraid of them at all. Yeah everybody is a tad bit racist that's human nature. Where did you get that i was afraid of them?

  • @Mctaggart6412 Let me rephrase, you do not like them.

I'm not the slightest bit racist. Have you thought of the possibility that your just a bit ignorant?

  • @darkmachete Your right i don't like them. Not personally i'm sure some of them are great people just a majority of the ones i've run into like to shove their views don't your throat and cast you out if you don't agree so it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They talk about us "backwoods rednecks" bein closed minded maybe some of them should take a look at themselves.

  • @Mctaggart6412 I agree some of them are pretty much "College hippy know-it-alls". But you gotta take into consideration that a good many people who have the same views as you are very strange with certain beliefs that are a little primitive. May not be you, but as I said a good many people with your views are looked down upon. But it's okay cause even I get tired of some of the extreme hippy liberals who shove their opinion down your throat even if I agree with most of what they say.

  • @darkmachete I've been in many political debates and just life debates. I enjoy talkin to people with other views as long as they listen to both sides and understand where i'm comin from too. I was talkin to a guy a couple hours ago about Obama, Fox news, illegals, guns, you name it we talked about it and it was a very good conversation. We both said our piece at the end shook hands and walked away with a different way of lookin at it. I know i get looked down on but they are my views

  • @Mctaggart6412 I agree man. Whenever a religious debate comes up, I'm always the odd man out since I'm an Atheist. It sucks, but they are my views. Sorry for including all people outside of Asheville as Rednecks.

  • @darkmachete hell most of us are rednecks and we're damn proud of it

  • I love Asheville. I've lived here all my life and have no intention of ever moving away. The people here are awesome...even the slightly grimey ones that live in West Asheville... and you don't have to be a tourist to enjoy the things in this video... someone needs a nap.

  • Comment removed

  • wheres all the picks of beautiful west asheville? haha couldnt say that without lafin. theres nothin beautiful bout west asheville. full of dirty grimey ppl. this video is fake it shows you the tourist side of a-ville. not the real side of it.

  • Asheville is great if you like the cold, rain, and giving people directions.

The best part is the sky!

  • Asheville has become a shithole town full of homeless bums, I was there this summer.......couldn't wait to get back to Boone!

  • A Great North Carolina Lake

    trifter . com

    /usa-canada/north-carolina/nc-hyco-lake-fishers-paradise-speed-demons-track/

  • i live in the great town of old fort

  • im from North Carolina Asheville

  • i love asheville sorry about some "locals"

but many people here don't like tourists is very sad because thanks to people that moving in here this beautifull city is growing very fast welcome to asheville bienvenidos a asheville i know many people will post negative comments because the spanish a lot of racist here

  • The thing about tourism is that it really pushes the individualism and uniqueness out of Asheville. It brings in corporate America and conformity. We don't need more Walmarts, Olive Gardens, and Pacific Sunwears. We need shit we've never heard of, we need more abstract music... that's what Asheville represents.

  • because you don't like progress you should move to a country where they have no power or drink water tvs or cars come on every american loves the conveniense of this places wtf goto cuba you will be 50 years back in the past you'll have to wipe your ass with your finger ass hole

  • I like progress, I just don't like progress monopolized. It pushes local businesses and the local culture out of the town.

I grew up in Asheville and in my 22 years alone it has changed ten fold. Asheville is a tourist trap now... it's losing it's long-term appeal so that it can appeal to week-long vacationers.

  • thank you....walmart, olive garden......

these things destroy the unique qualities of the areas they invade

  • @MrMuellerB I know what you mean. I was raised in east Orlando, pretty far from Orlando and Wal-Mart and the big companies have all done the same to the small townships out here. When I was growing up, many of the folks here were nice, kind, decent, and conservative. The big companies and Yankee libs came here and destroyed all the family values in the area. All the decent folks left and the area isn't what it used to be.

  • @shtony2717 I hate the word conservative. So much stigma attached to it.

  • @shtony2717" The big companies and Yankee libs came here and destroyed all the family values in the area. All the decent folks left and the area isn't what it used to be."....thats not fair, there was more racism back in the "good old days" and so called Yankee libs brought knowledge and class...

  • @1macboo I'm from upstate NY. I can tell you liberals have completely destroyed this state. Once the empire state regarded as the envy of all now has it's businesses and citizenry fleeing to greener pastures because of out of control gov't spending, taxes and corruption. If I move to NC, I'm sure I'll kick some Liberal NY ass that I run into on behalf of conservatives everywhere.

  • @goodfellow0101 Your state is 'completely destroyed"? Oh please. New York has problems but let me let you in on something...every state has problems. And in every case the liberals will blame the conservatives and the conservatives will return the favour. I think that the south...my home...has benifited from the yankees who have come here very much, just as be benifit from people from other nations who come here...we can all learn from each other. Climb out of the box you live in. peace!

  • @shtony2717 "family values"? you mean homophobia, sexism, racism, and celebrating being screwed by corperate America, (we don't need no unions)?

And the best part isthat you are right..... it isn't what it used to be....lol....thank God. Namaste my friend.

  • Also, people with college degrees can't get work here because, as this is a tourist town, the jobs are ALL in the service industry. Either you work as a line cook, or you don't actually live here. Tourism was a good way to clean up the city but it really needs to develop other industries if it's not going to continue hemorrhaging its best and brightest.

  • i know so many people that make good money here like mr richard maita that charges 700 dollars to customers for transfer aproperty wtf if you get limes from heav en learn to make lemonade don't try tobe a wall stree tman here goto ny city

  • Nice video! Looking forward to more..

  • I love how "locals" always try to scare off transplants and tourists when they are usualy transplants themselves. Plus they now all depend on these people. I've lived in Maui and now Breckenridge, two very touristy spots and it makes me laugh how people bitch about them when they are there then panic when they aren't. Grow up and share the beauty of your home wherever it is. Poor taste development and architecture happens nationwide. PS...I'm moving to Asheville soon...look out "locals!"

  • I was born here. is that local enough. I don't depend on tourist for shyte. you ruin our politics, and vacation homes raise the tax value of family's that have been here for genreations who are then forced out . it's not poor taste to try and preserve your local heritage. these videos show an extremely small segment of ashevegas. please stop coming here . I"m sure the leaves change color wherever you live/

  • its not as great as it looks. It is hard to find anything here, the climate changes drastically and it is not as beautiful all the time.

  • Beautiful city, but it also looks very WASP.

  • lol...it very wasp,wiccin,pagan,spiritual, and free

  • The people who actually live here are not. The people who build their second homes here and stay for the summer are, and we hate them with a vengeance.

  • This will be my Home in two months from today. i cant wait

  • I worked at WISE RADIO in the 70's and I always LOVED ASHEVILLE. I often wonder about friends I made there. The Hardin Family,,FLORA LYNN FLOYD,,ANNE JACKSON,,THE OWNER OF THE "LUMS" on TUNNEL ROAD. I often wonder if THE RONDETTE I lived in is still there. I rented from a doctor. There were 2 on the flat spot mine was on. THEMOJOMANdotCOM you can find me at YAHOO

  • most of them are still there but sadly are used as low rent housing for drug addict's and other low rent undersireables.

  • most of asheville sucks nothing but hippys and queers in what suppose to be a southern city

  • which one are you, bitch? Probably a queer! LOL!

  • therabbi1212 SOMEWHERE IN LONG AGO "YOU" OR YOUR FAMILY WERE "THE NEW PEOPLE" enjoy them and figure out a way to make them spend their MONEY with you.

  • you said it brother. its like Woodstock and san Francisco mated and gave birth to Asheville NC

  • I think being from Pa I would blend in nicely

  • I'm from the West Virgina and PA mountains, and live in Boone, NC. You would fit in nicely!

  • I agree! I have lived here 15 years and have loved it. I have had to work hard to acheive a good life here but had I been anywhere else I would have had to work hard there too. I grew up in a large city and crave the small town feel here. Once in awhile I can hit a nearby larger city and fulfill any needs for crowds and whatnot.

  • asheville is a rather small city. charlotte is a medium city. atlanta is a large city.

  • Comment removed

  • asheville small....agreed.

Charlotte...650,000+ population....NOT a medium-sized city by any stretch. Oh, and bigger than Atlanta in both size and population.

  • in terms of metropolitan pop. atlanta is nearly 3x as large. you are correct about core population, and so you are right. if not medium sized, what would you call it? philly, nyc, la, chicago, etc are large and charlotte is not in that catagory. maybe that is just semantics. according to wikipedia, charlotte is 21 largest city.

  • Hey, you're right about what you said. Just stating the facts about specific CITIES-which is what the original comment said. Not metro areas. Small city...50,000-100,000 medium.....100,000-250,000. large....250,000+

  • yes, you were right. i was justifying why i consider atlanta a larger city. for example, i wouldn't consider Concord part of Charlotte (people say it is part of metro area, but you know you've left clt), but do consider anything inside 285 to be atlanta. i grew up near NYC, so anything smaller than Philly or Chicago i think of as medium or small. incorrect, no doubt.

  • I visited Asheville today. It was THE most beautiful place I've ever seen.

  • Asheville, the Denver of the east...

  • There are a lot of mixed comments here, but the negative ones seem most prevalent.... how do you all think a dentist would fare here?

  • extremewookie GOOD IF HIS RATES WERE FAIR and he wouldn't try to be a millionaire in the first year.

  • Thanks

  • I have lived in Asheville for 56 years. It has some good features, but this is just a promotional spam. It costs far too much to live here thanks to the socialists in control of the local government. They talk of affordable living, while spending tax money like crazy, and taxing native residents out of their property. If you think million dollar condos on bulldozed mountains are good, it might just suit you.

  • I was going to move to asheville, but then I saw how affordable Spartanburg SC was. I got a house for less than 100 k right downtown!!!

  • yeah i live here, i wish i could leave. this town is so boring

  • I live in asheville and its not that great

  • well i did live in asheville but it started to suck after a few years cause the only thing to do was to go to the westville pub. so i hopped a plane and headed for sydney australia and im glad i did!

  • fuckin drunk irish get tha fuck out of here westville pub

  • There's no reason to criticize people here stating their opinion.

  • I WAS BORN AND RAISED in ashvile nc and i love it

  • asheville drum circles are the shit and this video must have been filmed ages ago... gas prices on the sign say 1.30 something... those were the days. as a native wnc-er, i love asheville and always will. the city and the surrounding area is amazingly beautiful. if you have an opinion otherwise, you need to look around and take in the breathtaking beauty.

  • Yea...a buck 30..two years ago

  • yeah this was before videos attracted the wrong kind of people here who think only they have rights, & they started building houses where none belong. there was a reason there were no houses there b4. This is seriously detracting from quality of life & overcrwoding the city with people who think that they have the right to tell me what I can or cant' have on my own property. Also these new houses that people are getting ripped off for are all substandard & dont' fit in with their surrondings.

  • guess what? i just did my research, and asheville does not have the second highest gay population in the world. as a matter of fact, not even in the top 10 for the united states! get your facts straight. however, i must say that there ARE a TON of gay people here. hah.

  • sorry this is not asheville nc . this is a bunch of rich transplants & tourist's. wages are very low here. A lot of these locations are not even in or near asheville like sliding rock. (brevard)It's cold as hell here in the wintertime looks ugly as sin with no leaves on the trees. Everything worth while shuts down. Nothing to do. Stay where your at and stop making it impossibly expensive for people who grew up & and actually live here year round. ;-)

  • Too bad it has the second highest gay population in the world Soon to be first this city sucks it is boring as hell

  • There are gays in Asheville?

  • There are gays all over the world, Where you from? There are gays there as well

  • Oh hell yeah!Maybe the 2nd or 3rd largest gay community in the United States!Do you know where Im talking about?Take a guess?....Atlanta(I actually live in athens which is one hour away from there).

  • nice play.

  • yea its time to thin the herd.

  • love this city, i've lived there 8 more then 6 years!! greetings from brasil . great town. great memories.miss it much
