I was raised a JW . I remember a friend of mine from another congregation had a molester there . He wasn't personaly molested but a friend of his was . I remember his parents making us stay away from him , and I wondered if the man really did these things why he wasn't in jail . I must have been around 12 . It can be a dangerous religion . The magazines are currently given out for free, on a donation basis. But they were indeed sold until pretty recently. The donation basis started sometime in the mid-late 80's, I believe. The switch was made from sales to "donation" in order to evade tax laws. Everyone in the congregations knows full well that they are expected to "donate" money for whatever they recieve from behind the literature counter.

Also, I believe this former JW uses the term "ordained minister" in order to allow people outside the sect to understand what he is speaking of. Of course they are technically referred to as "elders" or "ministerial servants," within the congregation, but someone outside of the organization would not understand this. It is a good call on the behalf of the video maker to use these terms in order to facilitate understanding of obscure terminology not used by anyone other than JW's.

But I must say, the Witnesses don't sell the magazines, which he said his mother was doing, nor do they call their members ordained ministers (although they are ordained, and ministers) ther are referred to as ministerial servants, elders, and overseers.
