  • A little part of me died when he threw the guitar

  • is that yngwie playing the kids stuff?

  • @Randyolsson Steve vai is playing both the guitar parts.

  • Sweep the guitar...you have a problem with that?

    No sensei

    No mercy

  • I make the same facial expressions Steve Vai does when I try to play this. Except that I'm way worse. :(

  • it s been twelve years i practice it and it s shit fuck lol

  • One does not simply play this guitar solo with there fingers!

  • i wish sensei miyagi(Pronouned:Meeyahgee) was there to see daniel san try new things

  • this is pitched up a semi-tone.

  • Steve Vai still doesn't suck when he sucks

  • so who got the hot black broad ?

  • Lol it looks so hard for Vai to play it incorrectly.

  • Apparently,Stevie had a hard time shooting this movie because he was not familiar with making mistake while playing guitar..

  • There you see Ralph is a better guitarist than Steve Vai. Wow That is suprising to me. FUCK this movie is shit. Steve Vai is one of my favourite guitar heroes, but he keeps to make a foole of him self, just watch his music videos.....

  • Daniel-san karateca e guitarrista muito bem

  • steve ... y u no use the tounge? xD

  • Good luck finger picking that shit!

  • Lol i like watching Vai "try" to play bad.

  • Did Ralph Macchio played it? looks real

  • @Droamen No, Steve Vai played it. Ralph is just pretending to play it. Then, Steve Vai pretends to mess it up. lol

  • Why didn't he just start with that...

  • Love how the guy isn´t even using a pick

  • ouch!! vai got pwned.... this is a sad day

  • ...the name of this song? I don't remember...

  • @lachaiseband The song is called Eugene's Trick Bag, and is played (in both parts) by Steve Vai. All the other guitar parts mimed by Ralph in the movie were actually played by Ry Cooder, and the playoff that occurs just before this clip showcases some of the best back and forth between a slide player and a rock player you'll find anywhere. Steve wins that bit, but I think it's a bit dubious. He loses all the soul and melody they've been trading, and just resorts to flash speed playing.

  • Thank you so much!

    Cheers

    Niklas

  • Steve Vai just PWNED hisself :O

  • what the heck ralf machio plays guitar

  • Steve Vai sucks at screwing up

  • kkkkkkkkk esse filme e do karalho..........

  • shit!!! i tried to do that bend at the 21 fret and now my string is broken

    i hate you karate kid!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • yea, that 22 fret jackson with a trem doesnt have a chance of bending farther than a 21 fret tele!!!

  • go Karate Kid !

  • Ralph Macchio sucks at Fake guitar playing and Faking Karate moves

I remember watching this movie and laughing at how badly the fake guitar playing was.

The same with Karate Kid, what a joke.

The 2nd Karate kid was way better.

That kid could actually pull off the moves and it looked good enough.

  • @EL34XYZ Funny thing is, he actually played it. The shit he's doing isn't tough for anyone that's practiced at it. THe shit Vai could do in real life would crush Danielsan.

  • @Defenseman619

Danielsan should have taken a tele into the ring with him as a weapon.

I believe he could actually beat someone if I saw him whack someone over the head with a tele.

Then he could pick it up and pretend to shred

    Now that's a movie scene. :)

  • hey what paginini piece is this? Thanks!!

  • Steve Vai se hubiera echado la rola de Eruption (Van HAlen) y le rompe el culo a Ralph Macchio jaja

  • yes ralf is the man !!!!!!!!go ralf u bad ass mofo should of just beat his ass with some of those bad ass moves miaggi taught that ass..

  • ihihihiahahahahaha [cit.]

  • from what movie whas this???

  • @spiderjur crossroads (1986)

  • They only made this movie to see Steve Vai miss, and record it...

Despite the fact that he was told to miss...

  • paganini caprice No. 5

  • I Just Got Goose Bumbs :D

  • /watch?v=Kftv2CGhhFQ&feature=mh_lolz&list=HL1314189739 my version in stop motion >D

  • lmao was i the only one rooting for vai xD.

  • @epper2011 hell no

  • Well done Daniel-san.

  • just look how far "wax on, wax off" can take you

  • I hate it,

Steve just play VERY VERY BAD for this movie, But Steve it's a fucking GUITAR GOD!!

  • chickenass chickenshit. i love this movie

  • if they wanted to make it believable, they should have gotten Joe Satriani to play the Karate Kid.

  • @damnyancey : hhahaha...agree... :p

  • @tabernacle2q hahahaha. thats the funniest think ive seen all year. haaaaaaa. thanks man. needed that.

  • i came

  • Hell is full of black people

  • @TheStaticage01 i was thinking the same thing

  • Steve failed at Failing.

  • Neoclasico Win

  • Steve Vai played all of Jack Butler's parts including the final "Eugene's Trick Bag". Ry Cooder played all of the slide parts. If you have any questions including looking for tab PM me!

  • The only thing steve cannot do is pretending to make mistakes!

  • @Redstrato92 i was thinking the same thing

  • aaaahhah steve vai played both guitars in duel

  • was there even a story to this movie scene?

  • I love how the people are clapping to it while hes playing. epic fail

  • lol, that kid is horrible at acting

  • Steve Vai only played this section of Ralph Macchio's part. The rest was played by Ry Cooder.

  • 00:00 epic laugh

  • เม็ดเดียวจิงๆ - -*

  • he just dropped an electric fender on the floor ^^

  • Relax people! It was Steve Vai the whole time. That's what makes the movie cool as hell. Those that argue about it are just beyond stupid. It's classic. He was a good sport about it. Steve Vai is a master of guitar and he knows it. He needs no defending.

  • God, Steve Vai is fucking sexy.

  • haha vai is amazing, we all know karate kid didn't play those parts, however it was live during the shoot, just vai played both his guitar and ralph's using his mind.

  • It made my day to find out that Steve Vai actually played both sides of the guitar duel. :)

  • it's so hard for Steve Vai to play bad!!

  • you cut way too much out,

    thumbs down

  • JUST IMAGINE WHAT MR.MYIAGI WOULD DO WITH VAI?

If his pupil did that myiagi would rape all the G3 formations together

    With sticks,japanese sticks

  • Comment removed

  • In my fantasy ending Steve kicks him in the face with the crane kick

  • its not hard to pretend to mess up.........I do it every day

  • true

  • Both guitar pieces was written by steve. So steve won. over himself. What a man!

  • Steve's not acting. He's actually pissed he had to pretend to lose!

All kidding aside, has to take balls to go on film and pretend to lose a deul.

  • Stupid movie.

  • lmao... gotta be hard pretending to mess up

  • mas humillado no se puede

  • Now lets see this kid take on Buckethead.

  • Since when can the karate kid play guitar

  • Wanna shred better than steve?

1.Use your fingers and not a pick with your right hand

2 .Play the notes in positions they dont even exist(its different tuning or something)

    3. Use a Tele. We all know they are the best shredding machines

4.Try do the supernatural bend(21->29th fret) and play a chord simultaneously.

Thats how you do it :D Good Luck!

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas well it's actually flamenco guitarist's trick. They play simultaneously chords, scales and bass on one guitar, which is the hardest thing I ever saw in my entire life.

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas please xD

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas Hahahah, I always wanted to say that but I didn't know how. :D

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas meh, chuck norris could do it (lol seriously that super note/harmony at the end always cracks me up)

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas there is an ibanez guitar with 27 frets so you could get to the 29

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas Not to mention somehow get a sweep picking sound without a fucking pick... Dude's a force of unnature....

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas Have you seen what Richie Kotzen does on Telecaster ?

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas Tele could be a shredding machine. IF it were wielded by STEVE VAI.

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas Actually, both parts are played by Steve vai. Kiddo is just acting. And i would say its kinda good, judging that the year is 1986. :)

  • @voozy123 I thought it was a mix of Steve and Ry Cooder to make him sound supernatural.

  • @RtasVadumeeKostas

dont forget get sweeping without a pick

  • The part that really bugs Vai according to most interviews is that people apparently really think he was outplayed by Ralph Macchio (who of course didn't actually play but was coached to look like he was doing it right), when in actuality that's him playing the part he loses to.

  • steve vai is god

  • That will never happen in real life

  • Daniel son.

  • and thats when steve left jackson guitars

  • @whitelotus808 charvel man, charvel.

  • @KonkreteXXX not really, although he was using what looks like a strat, the headstock is a jacksons. plus he was using jacksons during this time period (whitesnake) before ibanez made his guitar. You can even see him using this exact model in a whitesnake music video. he did use charvels though, which I believe was the brand of the "green Meanie", AKA the first guitar with a true floating floyd tremolo system.

  • @whitelotus808 dont hate on jackson! randy could kick any of these guys asses

  • Haven't seen this in years...happy to watch it again. Anything to see Vai play. I forgot how good-looking he is as well.

  • It cracks me up that Vai actually cut heads with himself and intentionally lost to .... himself. When it comes to high energy shredding I cant get enough of Vai.

  • This movie was so inspiring for me.

  • it is just a movie Steve vai can play all those scales like a breez man

  • worst actors ever, great guitar player

  • 1:07 fuckin greaat chord but i wiol always prefer steve vai

  • Lol The missing 24 fret.

  • This is theatrical bullshit but there is one thing I liked about this era of music and that was that you had to be a master of guitar to be recognized. Nirvana came out and the rest is history. Sloppy musicians became popular and real masters like Dream Theater that made the radio back in those days were told... play this style of simple crap for the masses or we end your contract. Pull Me Under was almost prophetic. Steve Vai is still thrilling audiences. Kurt Cobain didn't fare so well.

  • 1:10 lol u mad?

  • who's the guy steve's dueling with?

  • @popalltheway

an actor it's from a movie

  • @popalltheway karate kid!!!!!

  • @popalltheway Yngwie freakin Malmsteen.

  • steve is such a good sport, i love the fact he let him win and never said a word

  • the best thing about this is that steve dissed himself cause he wrote the song^^

  • 2:15 THAT POOR GUITAR!!!!

  • that is paganini

  • garh why is this sped up :/

  • It's an interpretation of Nicolo Paganini's "Capriccio No.5" by guitarist Steve Vai, written for the 1986 film "Crossroads"

  • This is sped up

  • daaamn he is good xD

  • What is that red guitar?

  • @Btroisi13 t That looks like a Jackson.

  • @Btroisi13 Charvel

  • in real life vai could have crushed that kid. he could play that way better than that

  • @guitarman06661 hey dude xD this songs called eugenes trick bag and vai composed it for this movie so shut it

  • @xS0ulcal4MastAx songs called "eugenes trick bag"? the first part is head cutin duel right? i mean before this clip

  • It must have been so hard for Steve to make a mistake while playing that solo lol;d

  • its impossible to play that without a pick... btw nice telecaster

  • @sapo104 I agree, for most of us it would be hard, but check out Paco DeLucia before you say it's impossible. The man is amazing.

  • why the fuck is this video sped up?

  • @Softairguy nope its just a movie from the 80s.

    crossroads.

  • @Forman6 i know that this video is part of a film but i'm asking myself why is this video sped up, cuz i saw the movie and it wasn't that fast

  • pero se re nota que no toca el,toca siempre en el mismo lugar

  • esta muy buena esta parte

  • That first song sounds so fucking familiar what is it?

  • Ooooh come on, Steve, you couldn't be bad even if you wanted to.. But that's ok, that's why we love you, you know!

  • Was this based on the Robert Johnson story?

  • ha ha.. vai is the greatest!!!

  • whos playing the tele, becuz a braindead cat could fake better than that...

  • wow he's so good at playing other peoples guitars... at the ends he's like,,, fuck this guitar is broken... T-T

  • the guy at the begining just saved a bunch of money on his car insurence by switching to geico

  • the guy at the begining just saved a bunch of money on his car insurence

  • this has to be the worst acting ive ever seen

  • ah ah I always wanted to see Steve make some mistakes, just for fun

    now I can wake up...

  • @lightnessss well, the funny thing is, that Steve maide the other solo too :D! So only he can defeat himself!

  • @lightnessss you do realize vai made these mistakes on purpose :D

  • my soul broked when vai drop his guitar

  • That with fingers would be fuckinnnng so gohard. Im pretty sure hes actually not playing.

  • Hello everyone

What is the name of this song? Thanks

  • @SERCH6776 eugenes trick bar

  • @SERCH6776 eugenes trick bag (not bar)

  • this young g player has my respect f dürst , left guitarr player

  • The thing in this is that he is pretending to suck to play his own stuff

  • Pretty sure Ry Cooder played the Macchio parts.

  • Man, if the devil really duel someone, he could have done that song.

  • steve got the hardest part, but messed up the easy part :)

  • the karate kid wishes he can play that good lol

  • Molto improbabile che ci riesca senza plettro e con 21 tasti su una telecaster...

  • Lol at Stevie Vai at the end doing his Cartman impression "Screw you guys, I'm going home"

  • daniel san playing the guitar

  • It's a fucking movie lol.

Everyone quit being idiots and arguing.

  • Obviously fictious. Lord Vai could play this without even trying!

  • Come to my page for free lessons (11 in total) on how to play this solo. Note for note, fingering, fret positions and all plus a full commentary. I even threw in a 3 year old girl for fun. What more could you ask for. Regards to all, Dave. :)

  • Steve Vai raped him

  • lmfao still played it better than that fake
