  • Wow, this was terrible.

  • Hi, I work as a pizza delivery guy. i'd like to say this didn't help me worth a fuck faggot.

  • This guy is retarded. Everybody tries to buy the cheapest gas but it only hurts your mileage. Premium gas gives you better mileage and also keeps your engine cleaner and reduces it's struggle. I buy BP Premium with Invigorate* and I get pretty good mileage. A/C KILLS you mileage. Drive with it off as much as possible. If you're not in a hurry, don't speed. Keep your windows up when driving above about 50 or so. Driving with sludgy oil is a bad idea too.

    Happy mileage gaining! (:

  • @LivingSuSpence a/c has no effect whatsoever on gas mileage... the airconditioning system has absolutely nothing to do with the fuel system in cars that arent extremely old...

  • @duuuuuuuuuuuuuuudde It isn't tied into the fuel system, but the compressor runs off the engine. When the A/C is on, it puts a load on the engine, which will make it consume more fuel. It may not be a major load, but it is still using energy.

  • If you REALLY want to know how to save fuel in YOUR car, as every car is different no matter what these idiot "experts" tell you, buy an ultraguage or scanguage and you can see how much fuel you are consuming in real time and adjust your driving habits to maximize it. Windows up? Windows down? A/C on? 60 mph? 75 mph? Just watch the display and figure it out yourself.

  • Also, it should have been mentioned in the video, AVOID ETHANOL! It isn't any cheaper and really kills your MPG. Theres a hundred conspiracy theories why that junk is being forced on us but the fact remains that it gives your car much worse fuel economy. I lose 2-3 MPG with a 10% blend and since my car only averages about 20 mpg anyway, its a big hit. Gas prices are up and we are made to use fuel that nets less MPG so we have to buy more of it... somebody is getting rich.

  • @freiermann7 actually, every gas station is forced to go by certain guidelines to be able to run. every gas station is basically the same. there is really no gas station better than another. (except by pricing)

  • @alyciagibson That isn't entirely true. They source their fuel from the same refineries but do different things to it. Some are top tier companies, some are not. I have a friend who drives fuel delivery trucks...

  • Some of this is just plain wrong. My car gets the best mileage at 75 mph, proven through many trips from LA to San Diego and back. The cruise control is worse for your car as its always running the engine up and down. Accelerating slowly keeps your car in lower gears which means higher RPM at a slower speed. The quicker you can get to your high or overdrive gears the less fuel you use. Short of flooring it, you want to get to the posted speed as quick as possible.

  • What a load of shit, how about some actual mechanical knowledge on saving petrol, bigger and colder air intake, better exhaust etc and 98 octane fuel goes great in any car,i get an extrax 100kms out of my tank on premium

  • im not giving up driving or even driving less. bad idea to tell to enthusiasts!

  • He said right away, the less you start your vehicle up the more economical it is, because it spends the most gas in the first 5 minutes while the catalytic converter warms up. Soooo driving less means making less trips. Start up your car once and get your stuff done, and you will be better off.

  • driving less won't give you better milage. that's misleading

  • @Lawngeenaughty I completely agree, i read that and ignored the rest of the video. Not driving as much simply saves money on gas because you aren't using it as much, it doesn't make your mileage increase

    terrible video.

  • @ budoghost1 Premium gas doesn't have more power. The octane rating is the fuel's resistance to pre-ignition. Engines are designed to have the fuel-air mix burn at a fixed point in the cycle, not explode randomly.

    Read more: carbibles com fuel_engine_bible_pg3

Conclusion: If your engine is not designed with high-octane fuel in mind, you just burn money

@ 051egan: this post is for you too!

  • Tired of checking tire pressure? Try Quick Pressure tire pressure monitor caps (available from PSI 26 to PSI 165). Just replace your valve stem caps with the monitors, then the monitor will show green if the tire is properly inflated, otherwise it will start to show red. The monitors are welded, chrome plated brass, high quality. Save gas, save tires, and safer drive.

  • What he said about premium MAY OR MAY NOT be true. I did this test on my 2002 F-150 4.2L V6.

I found a flat highway, and drove it at 55, 60, 65, & 70 mph, 19.7 miles each time filling my tank each time, from the SAME PUMP at the SAME STATION, asking the owner to reserve the pump.

    Regular fuel -> 17 cents / mile

I drained the tank, filled it with premium; drained it again and refilled.

    I repeated the test.

    Premium -> 14 cents / mile

Don't believe what people tell you.

    Collect your own data.

  • Premium gas allows for greater combustion so the notion that it does nothing for your vehicle unless the owner's manual says so is nonsense. Premium gas has a higher octane rating and this clearly creates more power for the same amount of gas. However, if your car is designed to run on 87 and not minimally restricted to it you're better off with 89, you probably can't take in enough air to justify 93 and you may end up wasting gas. Any V8 or larger V6 should benefit from premium.

  • @051egan try advancing your timing to suit the higher octance

  • @051egan Asked the owner to reserve the pump? Sure pal....

  • DUHHHHHHHHH

  • There are better things you can do to save gas and energy... don't waste energy video taping such obvious and calling it a tip. Also consider the 14,000 people who wasted two and a half minute of electricity watching this cr@p.

  • @Tripod3D How about the people who leave their computers on 24/7, first off loss in performance over time, second off it's not doing anything at night unless you schedule things like virus scans or defraging.

  • If you want to get better gas mileage buy a $1000 moped. It does all those things stated by greencar. And please don't listen to his stoplight acceleration tip; yes he's right, but only you benefit from that. Everyone behind you has to burn more fuel waiting at the red light that popped back up before you got your fuel saving butt across the intersection.

  • also, isn't all of this common knowledge?

  • excuse me, but NOT driving as much does NOT give you better gas mileage.

  • 12 bought hummers after watching this

  • another way is to drive a disel engine go to facebook and like the group Bring Diesel Engines To America. i want to show the automanufacturers we want diesel in america

  • @toyota420xp Some of the Jeeps are a diesel and has great gas mileage, search "2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 (diesel)"

  • Yah Right...

  • have someone else run your errands, and use their car, mythbusted.

  • 10 people have a Hummer so there is nothing they can do about getting better gas mileage.

  • Great moron.

Now we'll have more morons leaving traffic lights like they cant find the accelerator and going real slow on the freeway.

    Heres a tip:

if you drive the speed limit and take off from lights at pace,

the people around you wont get pissed off,

-using less petrol because there not flooring it in anger

-not stuck at traffic lights for 3 sets

    -not constantly overtaking morons.

    !!

  • @RsRocket31

Moron? Are you for real? Do you realize that when you begin any post with a personal attack that it makes you look like an angry, self-centered person? You don't impress anyone with your verbal abuse and disrespect. You sound like you need anger counseling in this post.

If your happiness is contingent upon how other people drive, you are in for a long, dramatic and emotionally imbalanced life.

  • @philosothink

if you think i write comments to impress people, your mistaken,

and i might be an angry self centered person, but what is it to you? what makes you the judge and the executioner?

sorry doctor phil i'll make sure nobody behind the wheel of a car has any effect on my happiness

    cheers.

  • Going over 60 does NOT increase fuel consumption.

  • @Pickle117

    wind resistance..

  • @Pickle117

yes, it does. The faster you go, the more fuel you burn. Your car must force it's way through the air. This phenomenon starts around 60mph with boxy vehicles, and around 65 with more streamlined ones. Other than reducing the density of the atmosphere of the planet earth, there simply is no way around it.

  • I learned to hypermile my moms 91 suburban with a 454 EFI. +1mpg. That is damn good for a beginner driver, I know this beacuse I got a built in economy reader on my GPS and also when the tank is running allmost on fumes I can crutch it into town 5 miles away.

  • Best thing in my oppinion is while highway driving stay off peoples asses, this will keep you from constantly slowing down and speeding back up which kills your mileage. And add coasting into your driving, like when approaching a red light, as opposed to driving until the last minute and braking hard. Not too much outside of common sense displayed inthis video though.

  • @gnolhsobners riding people's asses is also the leading cause of death on the highway. People watch too much racing and drive angry. In heavy traffic, the best thing to do in order to get home sooner isn't to drive like a teenager late for a booty call, it's to back off, leave room for people to merge and drive like your brakes are going shot.

And you use this term "common sense" as if it's actually something real!

  • @philosothink Good points! I always advocate driving as if everyone else is trying to cause an accident.

  • premium actually helps prolong engine life and lesser octane petrol burns prematurely thus reducing fuel economy; therefore, on the long run it is better to have used higher octane petrol as it is better for the fuel economy as well as better for the engine.

    just what i believe

  • i do all this anyway...

speed limits 70 in the uk

  • @desposyy miles or kilometers?

  • @chilton71 mph

  • Not many ppl know this but higher octane rating doesnt mean more horsepower or performance. the higher the octane rating means the fuel is harder to burn. thats why many high compression vehicles or forced induction vehicles require higher octane so they dont knock or detonate

  • Dive the speed limit? GAY!!!

  • If your car requires premium gas, don't be cheap. If you fill up with regular gas, your engine won't run at max performance which the car will compensate by using more gas. In other words, all your savings of buying regular gas will be wasted by worse fuel economy. Also the difference between Regular and Premium is usually 20-25 cents, for 15gal the difference in price would be just 3 dollars.

  • My car requires me to pump the plus type of gas... Whatever, I rather fill up the tank at 2.79 per gallon than at 3.89 a gallon from last year. BUT! Gas prices should be at like 2.15 max. So many new gas efficient cars are out there, the demand for gas can't be high as it used to be. right...? Damn the world that's run by oil money.

  • i get the best fuel milage at 110 km/h (68 mph) the EPA isn't always right, the EPA rating for my car is (city/ highway) 22/30 mpg but the government of Canada's ratings are 30/40 which is what i usually get

  • my bike does 134 mpg so i can drive however the hell i want.

  • Cut your catalytic converter off, light it on fire, and throw it on a pile of used car tires.

  • jeesus christ, does this guy think we're all idiots??? We all know this shit in UK. we've been doing it for years, problem is that historically gas prices in usa have been far too low, now wake up and smell the coffee

  • prius sucks - when HV battery dies, the car is paperweight, $2400 for new traction battery !!

  • So, when the battery goes bad after 10 years, you replace it for $2400. That's $240/yr which is $20/mo. However, gas consumption has dropped from ~$150/mo to ~$60/mo. A savings of ~$90/mo for the cost of $20/mo. The savings are still there.

  • ur battery costs $2400? weird

  • It's a hybrid. The battery I'm referring to powers the engine without gas. So, it's not a 12-volt battery to just power the radio and spark-plugs.

  • 98 camaro..

  • A proper break in procedure something as well to keep in mind. You may get poor mileage during this procedure but you are investing in better economy in the future.

  • Okay only buy premium gas if your car NEEDS it. Some cars don't.

Accelerate quickly and then keep it steady at the lowest RPM. If you have a high performance car USE OCTAIN BOOSTER it gets you 3-7 more MPG especially if you drive fast.

  • They are wrong, using the cheapest gas all the time builds carbon and sludge which lowers efficiency. Want our cars to get better millage. Complain to your senators about Ethanol in our gas, they put it there saying it reduces emissions, it's a lie. You get worse millage, and more emissions per mile. They use it cause it's cheap.

  • All gasoline (in the U.S. at least) has cleaners in it. Premium or not. It's the law. The only difference between premium and "cheap" gas in the U.S. is just the octane rating. Only older cars require premium gas to prevent knocking when you shut off the engine. It has nothing to do with the "cleanliness" of the gas, nor containing cleaners or not. Those myths are marketing tricks. Along the same lines as charging an extra 9/10 of a cent to trick your brain into thinking you're saving.

  • 2.7 litter magnum wit 22's inch rims / i take da rims off in da winter

  • Use diesel for god sakes! I drive 45 miles per gallon with my 1.5 dCi engine. (I drive a van).

  • Gas prices aren't that high anymore ... so just fuck it! Rev up your bad ass or not so bad ass engine, roast those tires and think of every stop light as just another drag racing opportunity, biatch!

  • lol...OHHH YEAHHH hahahah

buuuuuut...they are starting to climb up lol...but until that 4.00 mark...race away! :D lol

  • its hard not to drive in washington, it rains alot

  • why NO closed captioned in here video

  • damn

if u dnt want to spend money on gas

then just sell ur damn car and buy ur self a bike!!!

    deushbags!!

  • WORD. Plain and simple. My guess is that at least 25% of people don't need their car and could do with a bike for everyday activities and errands. Sure there are those long trips where you bring the whole family, but that's why there are rent a car places. bikes pwn.

  • my friends always joke about that lol

  • Just try to do 15 miles each way to go to work, avoiding highways and major roads, everyday with a bike.

Driving a smaller car is cheap:

a '04 Chevy Cavalier costs $4000 and has 27 combined MPG.

  • Comment removed

  • I drive an 04 Cavalier

  • It's a good thing that he didn't mention getting rid of excess WEIGHT in peoples trunk, changing spark plugs and cleaning your air filter. That would be too logical.

  • Get a 200w solar panel, a 12v motor, charge controller, 1000Ah Li-ion 12v battery and you don't need to pay for gas.

  • premium gas will make you cars engine last 10 times longer than regular gas will.

And your fuel injectors wont get dirty too.

  • use N netural shift on the down freeway, down road, down street..

    that is save gas

  • thats what i do...

but then again, i also do hard launches occassionally lol

  • if your car was at 8000 rpm but you did not have your foot on the gas you would not use any gas. The Neutral thing is a hoax.
