  • Some real eloquent comments been generated by this song Chuck. Not sure I can really do your revelation justice, so I'll just say thanks for giving us this beautifully played insight into what was obviously a very special experience for you.

    Simon

  • @goreedy hello Simon. thanks so much for taking the time to listen. i appreciate your sincereity and i deeply respect your own original artistry. be well (while thinking spring), chuck.

  • Chuck that's a marvellous revelation...I would hope to reach that space some day. So glad you shared that story. Not sure I could sit still for 4months! But truly inspired by your recalling it. Lovely yentle peaceful song. Thanks for sharing.

  • @wild0goose hi there Ann. always so nice to hear from you. thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. looking forward to your own next original. peace and love, chuck.

  • Excellent picking Chuck I really strugggle to pick like that even after years of trying,The guitar has a Great Tone to it chuck I miss having a nylon stringed one, easier on the ears and not so sharpe if you know what I mean, excellent writing and performing as always my friend a favourite for me and a big thumbs up, have a great weekend Chuck

  • @TUCKERZONE hi Nidge. thanks for stopping by. yes, i like to play nylon strings from time to time, especially when the lyric and melody are of a mellow vein. looking forward to your next fine originals, be well, chuck.

  • First of all, great picking and song Chuck. ***** Your voice is just right for this one. I read your write up. Very interesting. I too had 3 experiences like this in my life about 25 years ago. For me it was a speritual thing and drew me closer to my Savior. I wish you all the best in this life. Peace, Sherrill

  • @sherrillwallace hi Sherrill, it sure is nice to hear from you. i am so pleased to hear of your speritual awakening with your Savior. that single incident is the only real compas you need. thanks for taking the time to listen and to comment. i respect your opinions as i respect and apprecdiate your artistry. hope you and yours are doing fine, chuck.

  • Four months of meditaion, 12 hours per day, seven days per week is serious stuff. I have heard about people having near death experiences and having this vision of oneness and totality of existence. I believe you when you say this Chuck. Really beautiful. You are a good spirit my friend. Keep the candle of awareness burning in your window so others may see it and find a way to the warmth of the fire that burns within.

A lovely song. One of your prettier efforts too.

    Paul

  • @BradfordandLasso hi Paul, thanks for taking the time to listen and to comment. i always respect and apprciate your opinions, as i respect and appriciate your own artistry, be well, chuck.

  • I think it was Gandhi who said, " What you do may seem insignificant. It is important that you do it anyway."

  • The feeling slowly washed away, scrubbed by the intrusions of "reality." The understanding, though, always seems to be there, beneath the surface of consciousness.

Thanks for bringing it to the surface, brother. - Bobby

  • @summitauc oh Bobby, what a great story. i am really happy for you to have had such a rare experience. but, i'm not surprised because, knowing the special, sensitive man that you are, i would expect that you had communion with something universal at least once in your life. i can relate to your mention of the intrusions of reality. after my similar experience, i was so satisfied i did not care if i had a job or a purpose. eventually learned to deal with that (when hungry, eat). peace, chuck

  • I was once nearly struck down from my horse while driving on I-80 in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. I went from glancing at a tree to seeing the woods to overseeing the the landscape to marveling at the earth to comprehending the universe...all in a split second. Don't know how I stayed on the road. A great understanding, accompanied by a great peace overwhelmed me. ...(more)

  • Hi Chuck - Thanks for sharing the lovely song, and the story behind it. I have found that an experience like the one you describe can happen only after a great deal of effort in clearing away the "monkey mind" and its daily chatter of mundane thoughts...or not. Or it can just "happen" without warning. (I think that's what happened to St. Paul in the Bible). ...(more to come)

  • Hi Chuck, I lost my broadband connection for more than two weeks just before new year so am even later than usual getting to listen to this - I am sorry! Lovely guitar-work on this, and though I've never done any meditation, I identify strongly with the idea that we have a natural affinity with the whole of creation. For me, it's what makes life a joy.

Have a great 2012! Every good wish,

    Paddy

  • @oldfolkiepad hi Paddy , i bet you missed the internet more than one might believe. we use is so much for so many things its hard to imagine being without it. anyway, thanks for listening and if you ever want info on how to meditate, let me know and i will be happy to type instructions to your e mail. thanks for stopping by, be well, chuck.

  • @CharmedQuarkZ99 hi Richard. thanks for stopping by. good to hear from you, be well, chuck.

  • Interesting description of your moment of spiritual insight. Wonderful song Chuck!

  • @ljped Hi Jack. thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. always a pleasure to hear from you. keep on keepin' on, chuck.

  • Great one chuck, love the playing here. I wish you a great 2012 and I'll be listening. -Ron

  • @rhopen hi Ron, thanks for stopping by. looking forward to your own next fine original song. be well, chuck.

  • Sorry, I'm a bit late to this one, Chuck. Sometimes, Youtube subscription pages aren't up to par. I LOVE your playing here. Your soul is shining through on this one. Your lyrics are amazing too. I think that as we grow older, we can finally glimpse the common bond that we all share in life, and your song really speaks to this. We become more in tune with nature, and it connects us to our real selves. But it takes a lifetime to get there, I think. Going on my favorites list. :) Janet

  • @onewomanandsomesongs hi Janet. thanks so taking the time to listen and to "get" it. always a pleasure to hear from you. can't wait for spring though. peace and love, chuck.

  • So love this song! Makes me cry...

  • @maxympol hi maxympol. glad you enjoy the song. thanks for taking the time to listen, be well, chuck.

  • That is a fantastic story. A fellow doesn't get too many experiences like that I don't think. Cool tune, well written and performed. Very cool!

  • @dmio2 hi Dan. thanks for taking the time to listen. always so nice to hear from you, whose artistry i appreciate so much. be well, chuck.

  • What an experience! Love your picking.

  • @RobJamesPaynter hi Rob. thanks for listening. BTW, i've been appreciateing your uke playing lately. and the tone of your instrument is surprisingly good. makes me wonder if you enhance it via software. peace and love, chuck.

  • Hi Chuck. Lovely song. I too have felt peace in nature. No people around me though to bother me or more accurately no people making demands. That line 'snow brothers you' is intriguing.

I agree that it can't hurt to post our spiritual songs. I rarely hesitate but sometimes still do because of my own perception about how others might receive them. I like the way you have combined classical sounding accompaniment with folk picking too.

  • Hi Chuck wow great song man I love the lyrics great singing and beautiful guitar playing my friend I loved the song thank you from Phil .

  • @rockingphil58 hi Phil. thank you for such kind comments. i appreciate you taking the time to listen. hope you and yours are doing fine, chuck.

  • Damn fine picking Chuck. Not sure if I got all of the ideas you were trying to get across... Did you really meditate 12 hours a day, everyday for four months? You must have been smoking some good stuff....lol. To have that kind of discipline I will never know. Be well brother.

  • @PatrickGMoran Patrick. my wife, Elaine, says i'm wrong about the 12 hours part, but i don't think so. i meditated all day while she was at work. then, for 3 or 4 hours in the evening during which she was asleep for some of those. anyway, she agreed to keep working the the publishing company where we were both sales persons, understanding that once i achieved whatever, in no more than 4 months, she would quit her job and i would go back to work and suppoert her, for several years, chuck.

  • @chuxtrux That is a cool story Chuck. You must of been one hell great dude for your wife to let you do that.....damn funny stuff. Did you retain any of your enlightenment? You must of a little, cause I can hear some of it in your music.

  • @PatrickGMoran Hi Patrick, not really. i can remember the experience but i am not in the experience. there was a time right after that, that i did not know what to do. i was so satisfied that i had no desire. i did not care if i earned a living or not. but there is an old zen saying, "when you are hungry, eat". that translates into, get a job and earn money to buy food. continue to make mistakes and learn lessons from your mistakes. i've made some doozies through the years, peace, chuck.

  • I can totally relate chuck and it's beautiful. I appreciate the info very much. I love the way you describe it. Well done. The song is great too, haha :)

  • @mattydigs hi Matty. thanks very much for taking the time to listen and to comment. good to hear from you. now then, let's think spring. be well, chuck.

  • Really like how you meld guitar and melody and voice....lovely place

  • @reliablebow hi Michael. thank you for taking the time to listen and to comment. i hope you and yours are doing very well. chuck.

  • Hi Chuck, I took time to read your lyrics and I like them very much. I agree Karl, times have changed a lot now. All the best for you from your German friend,-

    Anette

  • @TanteA hi Anette. so nice to hear from you. thank you for taking the time to read the lyric. looking forward to your own next original posting. be well, chuck.

  • Some beautiful sentiments here Chuck - and fantastic playing, as always. It seems like in the late 60's and some in the 70's, the spiritual realm of life and the brotherhood of man mattered -and that was reflected in the music. Didn't last though, back to GI haircuts now. Everyone's a machine off to buy a new gadget. What happened? Your songs always make me think Chuck. Take care, my friend - Karl

  • @karlmahlmann i'm not sure i agree with you that people today are less spiritually centered. i do agree that many of us are as you described, materialistic and vane. but, thirty years ago, i would have a difficult time encountering anyone who could even slightly relate to a zen like experience. i know, because for a while i tried. very much round peg, square hole situation. but today i have met more and more sensitive, enlightened souls, especially among our YT group of writers. chuck.

  • Some Great Pickin Chuck it's so good to Hear from you Thumbs up my Friend and Happy New Year

  • @TUCKERZONE ni Nidge. sure am happy to have you back among us. thanks for the nice visit, be well, chuck.

  • I can't imagine the experience you describe - but I'm a spiritual vacuum!

lovely melody - stunning picking chuck. Congrats.

  • @StubyStubyDoo hi Stew, i was originally hesitant to post this song because i did not know if people could relate to it or not. but in the end i guess it's like chicken soup.....it can't hurt. peace and love buddy, chuck.

  • Nice song Chuck, theres a real warm feeling about your song it's melody and lyrics are top cheers Dave

  • @TheMakemFolksinger hi Dave. thanks for taking the time to listen. i appreciate it, chuck.
