  • watch behind enemy lines and you will know

  • hey i know that it is the one where it is stick to the front wheel

  • Make it bigger and double rail, therefore it can be used for a Gundam.

  • don't have a penis ring on

  • no more steam power : (

  • Would the EMP wave from a nuclear blast affect this system? Seems like the steam powered would be better against EMP attacks.

  • @themeaningoflife38 lmao, okay say they (enemy whoever they are) fires off an emp and you have steam cats on the ship, yeah they still work but you still have 1 problem, EMP FRIED YOUR PLANES COMPUTERS, so they are useless either way!

  • @TheDh0ffryn Well you could fly planes in from other areas that were not hit by EMP wave.

  • If China has this system it's because they either stole it or were covertly given it. They invent nothing.

  • China may have this system, but doesn't have the carriers...

  • Don't be happy so early, China also has this system!

  • by 2015 these will all be implemented in aircraft carriers, it makes steam powered mechanisms obsolete. We are in the future people, live your lives as if the end is tomorrow. Carpe Diem.

  • They are at Lakehurst. What's up with the life vests? I could see Jerseys color code to denote jobs, but really?

  • Can I get one installed in my driveway for those times my mother-in-law comes over, and she gets on my nerves? I'll pay to have the arresting gear modified for her van ..... please?

  • 2 steam launchers disliked xD

  • Spoilers Engaged. Can someone explain why?

  • @bladeporsche1995 You mean flaperons? Adds lift for takeoff and landing.

  • RIP MD

  • Does this mean I can launch my f 35 from a dingy

  • THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! HOW DARE THEY UPON INNOCENT CIVILIANS!

  • Pfft. We already have roller coasters that can do this.

  • No steam, great.

    But why the same speed?

  • @HALOFREAK9715 They are all men and they like to touch eachother in the showers. Believe me, they are all gay.

  • @johnwaynegacy94 Oh my god.... how old are you? 12?

  • how much Joule that need to applied in order to zoom the F18 into the air?

  • omg this could be used at like super-short take-offs in the event of...an alien attack for mass launchers XD

  • MAGNETS

  • My work helped machine this system

  • @needlenitz18 So did mine... they're called "Tax Dollars"

  • @johnwaynegacy94 and your welcome for the right to say that have a nice day :)

  • @johnwaynegacy94 how the hell would u know. u probably aren't even in the navy or even the military.

  • @johnwaynegacy94 You are fucked up in the head. Without the navy, you would be in a slave labor camp building explosives.

  • @xDImGellinDx How so? We don't have gay-military forces here anyways so I guess that means you are wrong.

  • @johnwaynegacy94 You are a fucking retard. Im not gonna feed you, you go failtroll some other video- not one you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @johnwaynegacy94 "We don't have gay-military forces "

Really? But you're from Russia aren't you. LOL.

Russia's army is full of fags. Russian army is having all sorts of issues with male soldiers prostituting themselves to other male soldiers for as little as a bowl of soup. What planet are you living on, this has been happening for years in the Russian military?

    tinyu rl. com/2coto2e

  • @FXWorldBeater Don't know about that, but USA's navy is famous for being gay.

  • nice.

now all a carrier needs are batteries and generators connected to the trap cables, to make a little bit of electrical energy when an aircraft lands on a carrier. no doubt the trap generated would be less than what the catapult uses.

  • F/A-18E Super Hornets don't normally need afterburners.

  • Damn... the plane launched without using afterburners.

  • Haha Don't wear a necklace by this thing

  • no more steam, grease, maintenance..20 years overdue. thanks for posting.

  • riding a rail gun?! man, what's next?

  • This is a great use of the railgun technology! Supercharged magnets are awesome!

  • @TechPriest89

yeah great use, but a century late. god bless the oil companies and their determination to keep primitive fossil fuel technology dominant.

  • damn too bad. the steam looks so bad ass on the deck

  • 1 person is probably from the Taliban.

  • 1:53 to save your time

  • This technology is nothing new. Just another implementation of electro-magnetism.

  • very cool thanks for the post

  • very cool

  • Bye-bye Steam!

  • @dnuofntsol And the insane amount of space it occupies!

  • im sure the sailors are interested in if its quieter haha. sure sounds like it!

  • i think im liking the future now :D

  • Amazing video!!

  • So next is a electro magnetic cable arresting system for landing

  • It seems like it lacks some power, the plane doesnt take off instantly, maybe what they need y EAMLS + sky jump...

  • @Semeiron

In what universe does any catapult cause an aircraft to take off "instantly"?

  • @dogsbd I dont know man, english isnt my mother language so i probably missed the correct word, i just say that it seems less powerfull than a steam catapult, i´ve seen steam catapults working and the displacement was much faster...

  • @Semeiron

Steam catapults are a very mature technology, in use for over 50 years. Do you really expect a brand new technology on its very first test to better that? That’s like building a new aircraft and expecting it to set a word speed and altitude record on its maiden flight.

But for what it’s worth, I thought the test looked every bit as powerful as a steam catapult, especially given that this was on a stationary field rather than a carrier moving at 40 knots.

  • @Semeiron The electro magnetic system allows a linear application of power. This means that the launch is much smoother than a steam catapult that instantaneously applies full power.

  • They should retro-fit all carriers with this...[.but that may not be practical or possible].

  • Fantastic! We're in the future wow! Great video.

  • they should make an Electromagnetic Aircraft Landing System HAHAHA

  • @trick0077 Way too big of a field more than likely and that would be just the first problem to address given the workings of the aircraft that aren't strictly mechanical in nature The application here is pretty cool though. Magnets and magnetic fields are cool. There's probably a long way science can still go with them.

  • Thumbs up. Great video. Thank you.

  • I remember thinking that I was glad not to be a gear / cat dog. Hours and hours greasing that catapult looked like it was not fun. I will miss final checking in the warm steam that kinda kept ya warm on cold days and nights. That steam kinda had an aesthetic appeal to it.

  • "Yea your right...

  • may be after 20 - 25 years there wont be any launchers at all in new carriers

  • how exactly does the EMALS work?

  • @KuostA MAGIC!!! :D

LOL It's kind of like a maglev train on steroids. The launcher is the train while the rail is the track. A "linear motor" of sorts :) Cool stuff ;D

  • @RoboTekno why dont they produce this EMALS system on a mass sale 40x the size and make super insanely fast trains than? looks like they have the potential. they really should.

  • @KuostA I'm pretty sure that's what a MAGLEV is.

  • @KuostA haha, that would be awesome :P Today's trains are kinda adequate in our culture, but this technology can be and is being used in other places like china and japan where public transport is used heavily :)

  • @RoboTekno Look up Urban Maglev by General Atomics. They're currently developing that type method of transport and they just finished building and test fired their own Railgun called The Blitzer for the U.S. Army.

  • WOW

  • Very nice. Nuke carriers have electrical power to spare. I remember reading where a nuke carrier was tied up and power lines attached to power a small city after some disaster. This looks much smoother and should have less wear and tear on the planes lowering maint requirements.

  • No more steam cats. Wow what an improvement to come to CVN's

  • Sweet! Now let's put rail /coil guns on the ships and we won't need gun powder for launching shells :D

  • @RoboTekno

Yeah, we will need massive ammounts of power instead...

  • @LouistheHedgehog Yeah, nuclear power...

  • @RoboTekno i still don't see how

i know they could get the power needed on board a ship, but there are no current battle cruser ships that use nuclear power... unless i'm much mistaken

  • @lyokoBSTN put reactors on battle ships... do I have to do all the thinking myself? LOL

  • @RoboTekno lol i realise that's the simple thing to do, but it's a risk i don't think designers are willing to take, submarines are given them as they are safer being in the sea where they are out of sight, while a battle cruiser would be more in the open and available for attack, giving a risk of a melt down on board

  • @lyokoBSTN If they're good enough for carriers than why not other large ships? I mean Nimitz class carriers have two and others have more. Rail/coil guns can even be adapted to replace Gatling gun and other smaller projectile rounds.

  • nice one :)

  • pretty abrupt takeoff wasn't it ?

  • @robbypjr not at all

your forgetting this is to be mounted onboard an aircraft carrier, the aircraft needs to be up to speed for take off within that distance else it would fall short and hit the water

  • first, second.... this is stupid -.-

  • @DudrickStudios "first" go and put a comment like that on a COD video, but on a video like this put something good or don't put anything at all!

  • @TheMattyccc don't tell me what to do.

this technology is not advanced whatsoever.

    Infact, its old.

    Same technology as maglev.

    get over it.

  • @DudrickStudios Stop crying its not very becoming

  • @TheMattyccc WELL, MAYBE YOURE A SLUT AND NO NOTHING.
