  • I could literally listen to this song all day long over and over--this and the "roadrunner" theme. Yay.

  • I need her.

  • Another childhood memory comes right to the surface!

  • One of the few episodes we get to see Ginger in some tight slacks. Nice!

  • This is a better tune than any Urban shit.

  • Forget Mary Ann and Ginger. I'll take Mrs. Howell. She's got the money.

  • Tina Louise sounds better than Diana Ross.

  • Ginger v. Mary Ann, Wilma v. Betty, and don't forget Betty v. Veronica

  • Im sure that when Maryann came on, Gilligan was choking his chicken in the last row !!

  • Mary Ann, Mary Ann, Mary Ann!! Oh Yes!

  • Wonderful song...and even more fantastic ladies singing it...gotta love Gilligan's Island!

  • its the willma or betty rubble argument all over again... deff betty and deff.. marry ann..

  • I love this so much ..... I am happy to know so many enjoy it too

  • I NEED MARY-ANNNNNN.........

  • THanks for the post It was bothering me all these years what was after the line Like A Baby needs a Toy, now I know " Like Hawiians Need Thier Poi"....very good thanks again..

  • Am I the only one watching this whole thing for Ginger? Tina Louise had it goin on

  • Mrs Howell is the greatest!

  • i wonder what song this was and who the original artist was

  • lovey sounds like a young johnny lydon!

  • I'm sure the professor built the record player out of scapes left over from the boat...or from coconuts!

  • That IS Tina Louise's voice, she recorded an album of jazz standards a few years before "Gilligan" started. They might have sweetened it a bit for the show, but she did have a very lovely voice. Of course, people bought the album for the sexy cover shot too! All that red hair...WoW!

  • Todays girls wouldn't be so pure.

  • Like a prisoner needs a cell. Ha ha ha! Jeez...

  • I haven't seen this clip in the LONGEST time and I'm embarrassed to admit how much I liked it.

  • Ginger kind of has that same breathy, sexy voice as Diana Ross.

  • Mr. Howell's face at 1:29 LOL!

  • Comment removed

  • i enjoy it so much

  • i remember this BIGTIME when I was a little kid. DAYAM Ginger is OWNING that shit from :30 to :48!! Hot stuff!

  • Hey little buddy-my big buddy is surfin for clam--huk-huk-arfff!

  • Mary Ann is just smok'n....

  • They're right, I need them! Well..two out of three anyway

  • GO MARY ANN!

  • Rest in peace LITTLT BUDDY, i always fantazised about dropping into the island and sneak into Mary Anns and Ginger's bunk. Wow that was my everlasting fantazy. RIP all departed cast i will truly miss you through out the years

  • Who new?! Lovey was an original riot grrrrl!!

  • Tina Louise looks tall, so I googled up her height. I was shocked to find out she's only 5 ft-8 and 1/2! Dawn Wells is 5 ft-4 or 5 ft-6, depending on the source. Wow, I know two gorgeous women who are 6-1 and 6-3 and I thought Tina was 6 ft or more! Amazing how tall TV can make you look.

  • Oh, wow. I swear this very episode came on this week-and I turned from it!

I've always wanted to see this since MeTV used it for their station commercial.

I would've known I'll find it on YouTube.

    Thanx for posting this!

  • that was so cute

  • LOVED This clip as a kid. Very Ann-Margarett!

  • She spelled it, Ann Margret.

  • Ginger's the one you shag-nasty and get it out of your system, and Mary Ann you take home to mom and raise kids with!

Oh, Mrs. Howell kicks ass too!

  • I always liked Ginger, but I like Mary Ann better now -- there both hot though!

  • that song is too cool for Gilligan's island!

  • Ginger,Ginger...oh my Ginger!!! Tall...beautiful eyes,smile...very seductive. Ok...I can die now. :>)

  • Howell has got to go!

  • Us: Who's hotter? MaryAnn or Ginger?

Mark Drazek: I always liked Mrs. Howell...

    I'm still howelling.

  • How so? It's true. He was my boss.

  • I was always a Ginger man myself.

    Tall, sensuous and seductive.

  • Oh yeah, with her 6'2" frame and size 13 shoe...real seductive: NOT!

  • Mary Ann. Sigh. Even finer than I remembered her.

  • Midget alert - smelly kooch!

  • Mrs. Howell: saggy snatch!

  • The Professor is jeolous of Ginger.

  • Mary Ann is the BOMB.....!!!

  • does anyone have a video of "the gnats"?

  • Mrs. Howell ROCKS!!

  • check it out...these byrds had hips and curves! Even Mrs. Howell. Now those were chicky mammas, daddy-oh! Turtlenecks, hip-huggers, velvet, go-go boots...what more could a man want? Oh, and a nectar surf 'a la Ventures' pop song!

    Cheers!

  • I am viewer 10,000. Yes!

  • I like this song very much because it is very good and it reminds me how important it is to need someone. I also like the three very attractive girls who sing it... hubba-hubba!

  • i was a kid watching this..and loved it..my favorite episode...thanks for sharing!

  • My favorite moment of my favorite episode, thanks!

  • I always loved this song!! I wish I could download

  • I wonder how much that 40+ year old Fender Jazz Bass is worth now?

  • Interesting how each of their solo verses matches their characters' personalities.

  • The '60s -- The Golden Age of Velour

  • How fortunate that the gals happened to have these three matching mod velour outfits with them when they set out on the three-hour tour, so that they could perform this swingin' song on the island. And the three identical bee-shaped brooches too!

  • This should have been released as a single. I think it would have been a big hit.

  • Best song ever! Friggin love this. Awesome.

  • TRIVIA NOTE: The voice of Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) was dubbed by singer-songwriter Carol Connor.

The Mosquitoes were played by Les Brown, Jr. (Bingo), George Patterson (Bango), Ed Wade (Bongo), and Kirby Johnson (Irving). Three of the Mosquitoes (excluding Bingo) were actually members of The Wellingtons, the folk singing trio that performed the theme song "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island."

  • Aw man! I thought she did her own vocals. Are your sure? It sounds just like her.

  • Yes--awesome slice of 60s pop---especially featuring the lovely G and MA.

  • How about having The Professor be in charge of The U.S. Energy Dept? He can single-handedly end our dependence on oil for energy!

  • he's dead! and still could do a better job.

  • Actually Russell Johnson is still alive, but at 83 he could still do a better job.

  • I guess it was a fantasy- one less to compete for Mary Ann's ample affections....

  • how did the mosquitoes power their amps and guitars?

  • Coconut cup's, wires from the Minnow and saltwater......Duh! lol!

  • Literally LOL!

  • How lucky. They just happened to cast away on an island that had electricity

  • Ginger is pure sultry hotness

  • She's a cougar now.........

  • Ginger OR Mary Anne? I want both!

  • Likewise. I can never break up a set.

  • whats Pearl Jam doing there!! LOL

  • Getting ideas from the Honeybees for their next hit record. "Oh where oh where can my baby be..."

  • I think Mrs. Howell inspired Johnny Rotten.

  • Imagine how excited the girls were to find they had each brought on board a pair of white gogo boots!

  • its so all about mrs howell

  • My take on the Ginger or mary Ann debate. If Ginger was standing there wearing the Minnow dress, and Mary Ann was sitting naked a few feet in front of her, I would walk past Mary Ann and not even look at her or notice her to get to Ginger.

  • Impassable...I agree 100%

  • impassable,

Interestingly enough, they did an episode where Mary Ann is conked on the head and thinks she's Ginger. They deal with it by putting Mary Ann's clothes and a wig on Ginger, hoping the sight would shock Mary Ann out of her delusion.

I'll not tell you the rest of that episode, suffice it to say that I for one wasn't fooled for an instant.

  • Hi WhiteCamry,I was not fooled either which had me wondering about the real state of mind that MaryAnn had when she clearly believed that Ginger was in fact Mary Ann!

In psychological terms Mary Ann was suffering from a condition often mistaken for temporary dillusional recollection when it was actually a simple case of temporary misinterpretation which can be triggered by a bump on the head, etc. and last for hours and sometimes even days. Ginger pretending to be Mary Ann was the best remedy.

  • We got three Mary Anns, and we are fresh out of Gilligans and Gingers.

  • Ya know, it's hard to look at Gilligan's Island now and not think that Gilligan, the Professor and Mr. Howel weren't banging Maryann and Ginger.

  • i haven't seen this since i was about 8 years old.. thanks for uploading =]

  • AH HA HA HA COOL!!!

  • They should have released this as a pop song back then, it was as good as any of the stuff on the radio at the time!

  • This episode was directed by legendary music director Steve Binder, who also directed Elvis' 1968 comeback show.

  • This was a campy 60's TV show dummy not rocket science!

  • where did the electricity for the record player come from? and why were there records there..who brings records on a boat. unless your bogie and audrey hepburn.

i love this video and havent seen it in ages. thanks so much.

  • Where did the electricity for Thomas Edison's Phonograph come from? There wasn't any! This one ran the same way as Edison's. Ginger is one who may have brought records since she sang so much. Maybe Gilligan too, since he has often showed how much he liked the music of that day and since he and Skipper probably lived on the Minnow.

    Great clip! Buzzzzzz!

  • I've wondered that, too! Where did the record player come from??? LOL

  • Thanks for sharing. I havent seen this in ages. Aloha!
