  • 400 years PETER TOSH

    jah live

    rasta

  • 400 years of brutal and bloodthirsty rule by the vampires is coming to and ignonimous end ARE YOU READY

  • mpires is coming to an end ARE YOU READY

  • 400 years and it's the same philosophy as they were cargoed into the west to build the great cities of Babylon! 400 years of the taskmasters whip! Only to be paid with death and torture!

  • stop with this bob is better than peter or peter is better than bob.they are TWO LEGENDS,no one is better than another.they created this music together, they are still today and FOREVER the best in reggae music.to me,bob marley and peter tosh are the greatest musicians in human history.what they made is just something we can't explain with words.they explain it for us while we listen to their songs.BOB MARLEY AND PETER TOSH FOREVER LIVE

  • Blackwell pushed Marley ahead because he looked white. Blackwell knew it would be easier to sell his records in America than Tosh's records. Let's just say Marley fit the description a lot more than Peter. Plain in simple. Luckily when the Stones saw Peter and Bob, they were blown away (not by Bob but by Peter). That's why they signed him. I'll go with the musical chops of the Stones any day over some of the posters below....

  • Marley had full weight of a label and an American PR team - Tosh didn't - Marley's look/ feel was much more accessible than Tosh's. That's it - plain and simple. Marley wrote about "One Love" while Peter wrote "there will be no peace until man has equal rights and justice." Until the day i die, i believe Tosh's passion, spirit and lyrics will have a longer lasting impact on culture/music - songs like Burial, 400 Yrs and Equal Rights will always trump Marley's "One Love" and "Stir it Up"

  • Bob Marley and Peter Tosh = 2 dead legends...

world is empty without you guys... :(

  • genial

  • 400 years of slavish indoctrination and same old philosophy, the retrospective oppresion and sufferation of the ignoble my black bothers ina babylon is despicable it's been too long zeen 400 years, so we the generation got to fight tribulation, time has come ~ Steppin Razor

  • @zxingzxing RIGHT!!!

  • i think peter was good, but bob was great......

  • @onlyjoetee You're entitled to YOUR opinion. I think Peter Tosh is a better overall musician. Bob Marley was easier to market for his mass appeal. They both contributed much for Reggae but Peter Tosh doesn't get the same treatment. The feel of the music and how they share their message is different.

  • @nesianboy Bob marley was much more talented than Peter tosh, better songwriter, better lyricist, much more prolific musician all round far more powerful and by some distance.Tosh is good, but marley was great,no question about that, marketing or not,the songs dont lie...

  • @onlyjoetee They are both great musicians. No debating that. Tosh taught Bob how to play the guitar. Tosh was more militant in his views drawing comparisons to Malcolm X, as Bob was Dr King. The Wailers as a group was better. It's based on how you like music. Tosh was more of a rebel in life and music. I feel the sound more with Tosh's music, to it it has more of an edge.

  • @nesianboy Marley was greater than him man, simple as that, better writer, better arranger, much more powerful songs more range, just much more everything,he was just greater, its a fact man.i like Peter tosh, but Bob Marley was greater, they were not equals like lennon and McCartney.in this case Marley was greater, not just bigger,greater..

  • @nesianboy The wailers was Bob Marleys music,Tosh was just a wing man.Marley had a bigger aura, bigger mantle, much stronger songs, delivered the message much more eoquently than Tosh.i like them both, but as a musician myself i know what it is...

  • @onlyjoetee Am a musician myself. You lost credibility with me by saying the things about The Wailers as a group. They were all equal. Blackwell pushed Marley ahead of Tosh and Bunny and that caused turmoil. How can you compare the harmonies of The Wailers to the I-Threes. I have a critical ear and Tosh's music is more lively. IMO, he pushed the sound of Reggae and took more risk. Again, different opinions. One example, Bob sang about Kaya, Tosh sung to legalize it.

  • @nesianboy You can take the entire works of Bob Marley, the entire work of Peter tosh, and the entire works of Bunny wailer, stand them side by side, who is the best, most powerful, most prolific, most creative songwriter here,No contest,at all. They were NOT equal creatively At all,Chris Blackwell pushed marley ahead because he was the creative force,ALL the songs were coming from him.Harmonies dont mean shit unless there is a song to harmonize to,and who writes the song?Bob Marley..lol..

  • @onlyjoetee Peter Tosh stands next to Marleys. Big record companies are going to push the artist can sell more. A lot goes into deciding that. Keysha sells more than true artists, does that make her better?. You're argument is weak. The way and how they shared their message is different. "I don't want no peace, I want equal rights AND justice". I say they're both great. I tend to like Tosh better for his sound and direct messages. Bob plays with words, Tosh cuts to the point.

  • @nesianboy im not talking about record companies or sales,im talking about composition and creativity,go listen to redemption song, rat race, buffalo soldier,i shot the sherrif, exodus, burning and lootin, the heathen, rastaman chant, natural mystic, crazb baldheads, zion train, etc, study the chords the arrangement, for someone who was barely educated Marleys vocabulary was incredible.Peter Tosh is good, but he's not on his level, not as prolific, creative or powerful, there is a difference between good& great

  • @nesianboy If you're a Rastafarian, you dont need mans permision to deal with herb, you dont have to go and beg some politician to legalize some God made herb that grows freely, plus the smoking of herb is a private thing, like praying or making love, you dont need to crusade it,it was here before man, see. This is why you see Marley is more creative than him, see??

  • @onlyjoetee No buddy. Peter Tosh was more bold in his songs. He got beat, almost to death, countless times for what he believed in. Bob got shot, Tosh was believed to be assassinated, there are conspiracies surrounding his death. How many times did Marley go to jail?

  • @nesianboy i dont care who was beat shot or went to jail, what has that got to do with your creative talent?

  • @onlyjoetee It has to do with who was more of a danger to the establishment.

  • @nesianboy yes,and you think the establishment were shaking in their boots because of Peter Tosh?please...

  • @onlyjoetee Because of the man that he was and the message he spread. He was singing about changing the shitstem, the injustice, colonialism, slavery, legalizing marijuana. He was more direct in mentioning these things in his music. Marley took the safer route and sang about the same things, just not as brash. The real world isn't all peachy. That is the comparisons between the two.

  • @nesianboy Marleys entire agenda was far ahead of Tosh and much more eloquently and poetically presented.Brashness is easy,it takes FAR more creativity to present something in a way everybody can digest.there are VERY FEW artists whose music breaks EVERY barrier.Bob marley reaches EVERYWHERE,EVERYONE from the Ghetto to intellectuals thats VERY rare indeed. He is FAR by FAR ahead of tosh creatively.Legalize what?God has already justified it,why are you begging some politician for his permission?

  • @onlyjoetee Marley reaches the masses because he was EASIER to market. His message is easier to accept. Do you not think that there is politics in the music industry? Legalize because man made laws that criminalize those who use marijuana. Tell the judge your rebuttal that God made this plant and see if they let you off the hook. Lets be real.

  • @nesianboy when Peter Tosh stands before the leaders,he lights a spliff and curse them, when Marley stands before the leaders,he tells them of love, and brings them onstage to hold hands for unity in the name of love, and even thunder and lightning flashed.See the difference?more creative, more powerful, greater,THIS is why he doesn get beat or go to jail,THIS is why he is promoted ahead of the rest,do you see???

  • @onlyjoetee Ok. Now what happened after that concert? Tosh gave a speech on the oppression, injustice, politics, and the audience lit up. Bob had a moment for history in getting them on stage but it did nothing to stop the political violence.

  • @nesianboy and you think what Tosh said stopped the political violence?it just brought more violence, even to himself, what Marley did actually shamed the politicians,it was like Christ on the cross between the 2 thieves,he made them realize themselves man,it was epic, even thunder and lighning was flashing in the sky..He was greater period!!

  • @onlyjoetee Nice. One line to kill this. "I don't want no peace, I wan equal rights and justice". Find flaw in that one line. We all want peace but we won't have peace till everyone gets equal rights and justice. You are getting the message from Marley and I get it. I listen to Tosh and his message brings more to my consciousness. His music has more rock in it, and he can pull of disco. How he covered Johnny B Goode, that was ridiculous.

  • @nesianboy Yes,Peter Tosh was talented,but Bob Marley was greater,thats all,its the truth,you know it,i know it,the whole round world knows it,thats all..

  • @onlyjoetee I can't say that.

  • @onlyjoetee Who better to speak about the Wailers than the members of the group? They say that it was Tosh that arranged the instruments, it was Tosh that pulled it together. I will say it again, Marley was more marketable in appearance and music. Tosh was more controversial and recording companies were a bit more reserved.

  • @nesianboy Bullshit.Peter Tosh was only in the wailers for only 2 albums,Burning and Catch a fire,of those 2 albums only 3 were Tosh songs.400 years,Stop that train, and One foundation.Bob Marleys greatest work was done long after Peter Tosh left.Marley was more marketable because he was a greater artist and FAR better composer than Tosh.Marley is the greatest artist in history of reggae, and one the greatest songwriters EVER.Peter Tosh was good, but he is not Bob Marley's equal creatively AT ALL

  • @onlyjoetee Ofcourse they were only on two albums. They came out as "The Wailers" and then Whiteworst (Blackwell) pushed Marley to the forefront as "Bob Marley & The Wailers". Bunny and Peter decided to leave. Had they stayed, they might have sold more albums. True artists care for their art and thats what led them to leave. By the way, Jimmy Cliff helped write Bob Marley's first song. Their best works came after their group album because they grew as artists.

  • @nesianboy Jimmy Cliff helped Marley to write what?does Bob Marley look like someone who needs help to write a song,The wailers was Bob Marleys music,so naturally he will be more elevated, those were HIS songs..

  • @onlyjoetee I think you should check the history on this.

  • @nesianboy where was jimmy cliff when Bob was writting Burning?Catch a fire?Exodus?Uprising?Confrontation?Natty Dread?Survival?Rastaman Vibration?Kaya? etc please man...

  • @onlyjoetee Like I said, Jimmy Cliff helped write Bob's first song. Check it. Bob matured as a writer and that showed in his work later on. Bob needed a little more help in the beginning when Tosh had it all along. He taught Bob how to play music, play a guitar. Check it.

  • @nesianboy Jimmy cliff helped marley write what? There are people who showed me things about the guitar when i started playing, who are not even one tenth as talented as i am!!!!

  • @onlyjoetee I would agree with you that someone can teach you how to play an instrument and the student becomes better than the teacher based on talent. Add the fact that Tosh played keyboards, guitar and others that Marley is better and has more talent that Tosh? What live concert footage can you show me that Bob plays intruments better than Tosh. Tosh was more versatile.

  • @nesianboy look at the first Wailers album Burning, now look at the Bob Marley songs Burning & lootin,I shot the sherrif, small axe, duppy conqeror, rastaman chant,Put it on,then look at Peter Tosh's song One foundation.immediately you realize one of these people is a bit greater than the other.hahahahahaha

  • @onlyjoetee They made more music than that. No Sympathy, Burial, 400 Years, You Can't Blame The Youths, Go Tell It On The Mountain. I am telling you. The one thing that Marley got over Tosh was that he was better promotion and that Marley was not as controversial as Tosh. It really is dumb to argue like this because they were friends. They showed up to each others concert. I'm sure they wouldn't pay attention to this arguement.

  • @nesianboy Peter Tosh had good songs,Bob Marley had great songs see,Tosh was good, but Marley was great, thats the difference.Go listen to all their albums again together, side by side, you'll realize this...

  • @onlyjoetee Their music is different. What sells more doesn't equal to better. "Pick Myself Up" compared to "Three Little Birds", "Fight Apartheid" compared to "War", "Not Gonna Give It Up" compared to "Africa Unite". It all is a matter of taste. Listen to the sounds of "Reggaemylitis", "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "Burial" and "Buckingham Palace". They all have a very different sound compared to all of Bob's songs.

  • @nesianboy Compare pick myself up to Zion train?fight apartheid to redemption song?gonna give it up to Buffalo Soldier?please man, there is a difference between good and great..see

  • @onlyjoetee How does Picky Myself Up compare to Zion Train? I was comparing the messages in similar songs. Equal Rights, Where You Gonna Run, Mystic Man, Johnny B Goode, Lessons In My Life, Fight Apartheid, Crystal Ball, African. They share the same message differently. I like em both but I feel Tosh more.

  • @nesianboy When God gives talent he never gives it equally, someone is always greater than someone. Its like the jackson 5,they were all good, but Michael was greater than them.not because of record company or promotion etc he was born greater than them.Same with the wailers, bunny and peter were good, but Bob was greater than them.the world knows it,they knew it themself!they were not on the same level!!!its like sports, you are in a team with Michael Jordan you may be good, but,he's greater than them

  • @nesianboy There are different levels in life in everything, average, mediocre, good and great, and you know it when you see it.in art, sport, music everything.peter tosh bunny wailer etc were good, bob marley was great and they knew it, they themselves KNEW it!!the world knew it,and i say this with the greatest respect as big peter tosh fan myself, because its the truth,if you look at both their creative output, you will see this CLEARLY,one was ahead of the other, overall, they were not on the same level

  • @nesianboy No sir, peter tosh was not a better anything than bob marley, not a better musician, poet, writer,or performer and i say this as a Peter tosh fan..if Peter tosh was playing in one room and Bob marley was playing in another at the same time, which would you go to and why?there is good then there is great..

  • @nesianboy in every walk of life, the greater will stand before the rest, bands are no different.regardless of Chris Blackwell or anyone,Marley would have stood ahead of tosh, bunny etc because musically he was greater than them,no doubt. They were equal as people, but musically Marley was ahead of them,no question..

  • @onlyjoetee You continue to divide them, when in actuality they are family. I will leave it at this, Bob went on to take over the world and have massive success. Tosh went on to spread the message until he was murdered. My opinion won't change, Tosh took more risks in life and music.

  • @nesianboyPeter Tosh was good, but Bob Marley is was and will always be greater than him,and not just in sales,in actual creativity.AND YOU KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the world knows it!!!!!!!!

  • @nesianboy They may have been family, but they were NOT equals, and that is a fact!Michael Jacson and his brothers were family, but they were not his equals creatively!God never ever gives talent and ability in equal measure even in families, somebody is always greater than somebody.Keep your opinion if you want, but this is the truth and you know it.so does the world!!

  • @onlyjoetee I am saying that they don't have beef with each other. With the death of Marley and Tosh, Reggae is nowhere near what it used to be or could be. I am saying you should know the history a little better. Marley left to go to the US while Tosh and Bunny kept pushing the music. Tosh came up with the name Wailers. Tosh and Bunny introduced Rastafarian to Marley. Tosh played more instruments than Marley did and that was evident in live shows. There you go...

  • @nesianboy When Marley was in America in the 60s Tosh and Bunny did not even have any songs. They were all introduced to rastafari by mortino planno,The whole world knows about rastafari today DIRECTLY because of Bob marley!playing more instruments than someone doesnt mean shit,Tito Jackson plays more instruments than Michael Jackson,so what?is he greater or more talented?

  • @onlyjoetee You are mistaken. Tosh and Bunny continued to make music. Maybe if you weren't so hung up on Marley you would actually research and find out that they released music. What you are telling me is that given Tosh and Bunny stopped making music because Bob moved to the US? You really believe that? Bob brought Rastafari to the world because of his success. Tosh and Bunny learned of Rastafari while Bob was gone. Just listen to the sounds between the two, Tosh's was more dynamic.

  • @nesianboy Playing more than one music makes you a more versatile person. To me, a better musician.

  • @nesianboy it doesnt matter how many instruments you play, its EXACTLY the same chords on all of em..

  • @onlyjoetee I understand that. The ability to play more instruments says who is a better player. Show me a live footage of Bob playing multiple instruments. Face it.

  • @nesianboy Bob marley was a Rhythm guitarist, which is all you need to be to write songs, Cmajor and A minor are the same if you can play in on one instrument or a thousand instruments.unless you have a song,it doesnt matter how many damn instruments you play.and Marley had the songs..get it??

  • @nesianboy look at the chords that Marley used for i shot the sheriff, google it right now,you will realize what a truly brilliant musician he was technically.and this was from THE FIRST album, this is young early Bob Marley, with no help from anyone, knowing chords LIKE THAT!!most early writers would use basic chords Marley uses Gm/Cm7/Ebmaj7/Dm7..for him to even KNOW chords like that at that stage was incredible!!never mind the bridge even!!

  • @nesianboy continued to make what music?which songs?Bob Marley had to make the songs for them to harminize to.Peter tosh said it himself "my job in the wailers was to decorate Marleys music"thats a direct quote, and thats what he didThe word dynamic, means a potent force,If Peter Tosh was more of a potent force than Bob marley,he would have stood ahead of him, simple, the greater in any situation or team ALWAYS rises ahead of the rest naturally!!!

  • @onlyjoetee Would the songs matter to you? It wouldn't because it was made by Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, whom to you, don't hold up a candle to Bob Marley. That was a quote indeed, describing the role he had in the group, which he couldn't stomach anymore. You can use that quote out of context to suit your perception of his role in the group. It could mean that he decorate Marley's music to be better, a touch-up.

  • @nesianboy Dynamic that it has more elements in the sound. Therefore, more energetic sound. Marley was more laid back in his music and you can see it, feel it and hear it. Look at the live footage of Babylon Queendom for example.

  • @nesianboy more "elements" does not mean your music is better.Marley could turn up with just himself and an acoustic guitar sit down, sing redemption song and blow you away completely with the sheer power of it.THATS greatness.

  • @onlyjoetee I see. Tosh wouldn't be able to captivate an audience with an acoustic guitar either? Its done. Peter Tosh and Bob Marley would laugh reading this. Enjoy the music you enjoy.

  • @nesianboy its the power of the song, that captivates.Bob Dylan could stand on stage by himself with just an acoustic guitar and captivate an entire stadium!!!!its the songs!!and Marley had the greater more powerful songs, from the very first album onwards,by FAR!!

  • @nesianboy man, listen to babylon queendom, them directly afterwards listen to The Heathen, NO CONTSEST MAN!!!!NONE!!!!thats the difference between Good and Great..see!!!

  • @nesianboy Tosh left because he had to go do his own thing,it was time to develop his own talent. His touch up role was done much better after him by the 3 girls. The core of the Wailers was Bob and the Barrett brothers, thats reggaes greatest combination,Bob and that AMAZING drummer and bass player,Marley was VERY lucky to find them.Anyone else was dispensible quite frankly.Bob,Family man and Carly was the main thing..

  • @onlyjoetee Tosh left because he knew what was happening and didn't like it. Again, you are telling me that the I-Threes had better vocals than the vocal trio of The Wailers? Greatest? You forgot about Sly & Robbie? Sly & Robbie went on to work with other reggae legends.

  • him killed 9/11/87 dirty work american CIA me think always things happen on 9/11 done by CIA gov't of covert usa overthrow of Chilaian pres.Alanda Allanda on 9/11/73

  • Time change and they haven't changed.. It's the same exploitation, racism and robbery going on even today. They must and will pay for their crimes of spilling blood of the innocents all over the earth. The earth is crying for JUSTICE.

  • Peter Tosh is the original bad ass. This is how he started his concert. It's not even a song. It's a threat.

  • "400 years and it's the same philosophy." The words speak for itself......

  • "same old colombus philosophy" if that could be called 'philosophy'.

Reggae is wisdom, respect is key, Stepping Razor is the man ;-) Nuff Respect

  • You're nothing but a scumbag, low life! Nowhere near Peter and his philosophy

  • 400 Years of bullchit!!!!!!

When will my people wake up!

  • Why give me a negative comment?

This was not a shot at Peter Tosh. The Tosh is awesome! In fact, he hit the point dead on the head, "Four Hundred Years...and it's the same philosophy. Four Hundred Years...and my people still don't see."

    Wake Up, Negus!

  • just out of curiosity - what exactly should people wake up from or to?

  • for our rights against oppression ! listen, wake up, & rise !

  • you dont seem to realize that if you hate white people because you think they are racist - you are then racist and no different than the KKK or any other racist douch bag

  • did u hear what i said. the blackman is god. i do not have one atom of hatred besides mentioning it in this message.i hav only luv n truth.

  • Youre an ignorant fool and your message is full of hate. Your idiotic message shows us all that you dont know anything about love and truth. You hear people talk and you repeat what is said, but you dont know anything about it.

  • @whitepeepleareDevils Youre an ignorant fool and your message is full of hate. Your idiotic message shows us all that you dont know anything about love and truth. You hear people talk and you repeat what is said, but you dont know anything about it.

  • My friend. I can see why some people would find your screen name being OFFENSIVE to others. For me it's you being truthful to yourself this is thwe way you view white folks, it's kind of bad on your path. Remember, slavery started in Egypt. No whites were living there when it started. It's the ARABS, and balcks started it. Even the Russian people were en-slave by their own, STALIN. Let us not go back into the past. Look to the future. Jah Bless and guide you my friend.......All the best .

  • yeah mon but they're just speaking from they're own experience...Jah Blessings mon...Bless up...

  • Man I respect the I cause I've got heartical respect inna me heart fi each and every one, and I really think that on certain points the blackman is superior than the white. But I must warn the I from the meaning of Nyahbinghi, which is ( you probably already know)

Death to black AND white downpressors, seen? So man try to stand up for the Right and judge not the likkle children dem by the colour of their skin, they didn't choose it.
