Ethnic separatism is something kind of required within any concept of a group of people being independent from their government.
Civil rights though... is a concept which cannot coincide with the idea that a nation of people who have lived independently and separately from a foreign nation should be ruled by that nation. The Chinese claim seems to amount to nothing more than "You're close to us and we want you, therefor we claim you"; that is contradicted by Tibet not needing anything n return
@Maarilat Fair enough. I'd just keep in mind that *all* Chinese are just as oppressed by the CCP as the Tibetans are. We shouldn't be calling for a Free Tibet, but for a free and democratic China where there are strong safeguards in place for national minorities (including institutions in place to help the assimilation of out-of-region people into the local culture, as well as education in the native language and a right to one's religion and so on).
@Maarilat In other words, I'm not convinced Tibetan secession is the best course of action in terms of what the Tibetan people will actually get out of it.
@ZaoLuYang: Let me fuck you and then I will help you. We don't want to be fucked and helped. When help is given by force, it is torture. When torture is given by request it is help. When the time comes We Will Fuck China and will never help after fucking.
america is populated by white people because of imperialism. are you saying they should all move back to europe and hand the land back to the natives?
the dalai lama was the man running everything in tibet! he was the political leader AND the spiritual leader. and before PRC took back tibet, they were in the worst feudilist society in the world! 95% of the population were slaves! the other 5 were lamas! u should read micheal parenti.
Tibet was never a part of china. The Manchu Qing dynasty was under the Mongol Yuan dynasty, the second foreign domination dynasty of China. Please do not confuse it with PRChina.
dude...Tibet has been part of China for so long, the your history. If you believe in what you believe, then you might as well support the free and independance of Hawaii.
I dislike many Tibetan independence supporters (I disagree with the Dalai Lama almost entirely on religion), but that doesn't mean that Tibet shouldn't get its own state if that's what Tibetans want.
Go back to school, Tibet was never an independent country!!! Free Tibet is like saying Free Texas or Free California! At least Texas was an independent country, or HI before US illegally annexed it! Get your facts straight before you open your mouth! It would be interesting if you shake your head side to side like those guys in the Bollywood movies when you talk.......at least it would be entertaining.
Tibet was never a part of china. The Manchu Qing dynasty was under the Mongol Yuan dynasty, the second foreign domination dynasty of China. Please do not confuse it with PRChina.
Shut up, sit down, and learn first before you put a stupid vid on here! Tibet was never a country! Brits invaded Tibet, and signed a treaty with them, that doesn't make them an independent country. According to your logic, US invaded Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957 after they sent in the Federal troops??? Why doesn't US give the whole country back to the native Indian??? Don't throw stones in your own glass house!
Tibet was never a part of china. The Manchu Qing dynasty was under the Mongol Yuan dynasty, the second foreign domination dynasty of China. Please do not confuse it with PRChina.
I understand your point that a free Tibet doesn't necessarily mean a theocratic Tibet, but how do you reckon that would play out. It would require another country to take it over, to impose their system upon them.
there r comments below stating dat Tibet was part of china since 1000 yrs,it's all crap, China's CCP system educates the chinese kids from very the beginning in the school about 56 ethnic groups, which is untrue,&dats y i call it a crap & brainwashing. So up urs china!
You fucken muslim India , Pakstan son of a bitch! You got no right to talk you fucken terroest! Go make more fucken bombs and fuck your self up! and go read bible you fucken sand nigger! Dumb fuck! USA USA USA USA! Fuck the Dalai Lama! Jesus will shit on his face one day for being a fuck sand nigger like you!
In the end of the video you mention the multi-ethnicity of the U.S, meaning China can be multicultural as well just like the U.S. and Canada. China has 56 ethnicities, one of them being Tibetan. Might as well declare the Chinatowns in the U.S. independence. They all have their own culture. Only the Dalai Lama and the exiles are making the biggest fuss because they lost all their power. There are plenty of Tibetans happy because of economic prosperity brought by China.
hey dumbass any archaic form of multiculturalism is a result of imperialism, thats anywhere in the world. The fact its happened so long ago dilutes the issue. China's expansion into Tibet and in fact all China predates US independence or pilgrims. Whats your point? The fundamental fact is China has a legitimate claims to titles in Tibet, and if you don't agree then let the US start by giving America back to the Indians u self righteous fake-rights war mongering bastards
Tibet has been part of China for the past 800 years, except the time when the British forced Tibet and China to split in 1912. That was when Tibet was independent and became a feudal/slavery society ruled by the dalai lama. China invaded in 1951 and abolished the feudal system, eliminated mass starvation, and fueled economic prosperity. Without China, Tibetans would still be in extremely poor living conditions.
tibet have become part of China sinse year 1271.. which is Yuan dynasty.. yea true they are Buddhism.. but Buddhism are not chinese native religion you know....
really leave these to the chinese to handle, and mind your own businese.. atleast before you read some history book and knowing atleast tiny bit of the fact..
yea maybe few tibet want independent, so they should be independent? it is minority of the ramaining higher class and monk, only about 5% of the total population...
tibet is part of china for almost a thouand years.. you know england and english have only about thousand years of history..
now free quebec, free green land, free Hawaii, Alaska and all those land white invade in the past few hundren years of history..
you know you are nothing but a fool, china is a unit of 56 race. yea yea tibet is zang race, but thats thousand years ago.. most of the tibet people are other race, and many of the zang race live in other part of china now..
yes,the tibetan religon is just like the islame in the arabic countries, brucial and extreme.and the dalai lama is just like the religious leader in iran.if he got the power again, the world will be more dangerous.
The dalai lama IS a figure and the goverment in exile is a democratic goverment. Don't mess buddhism and politics. Buddhism is just fine in Nepal and India so they don't need a free Tibet. The ones who need it are the people of Tibet

Maybe. But I don't see what that has to do with Tibetan autonomy and whether an independent Tibet will be a liberal democracy or a theocratic dictatorship.
Probably a dictatorship, if the lama class has their way, communism may suck, but at least they have telephones, and electricity in tibet now. lamas suck.
Stop being naive. Do you think the current 'government in exile' really doesn't want anything to do with politics? Any new government, formed by the will of their own people and without the interference of outside power (eg: USA in Iraq) will not exclude these high-horse moralists.
