  • I love you cloister xDDD

  • In the beginning when espeons synchronize poisoned cressalia too I thought they must've been kicking themselves since espeon just used a lum berry so only cresselia got poisoned.. but then I realized that the poison stopped cresselia from falling asleep.. so they might've meant for that to happen X.X besides the lum berry anyways.

  • LOOOOOL IF I WAS FACING THAT CLOYESTER AND IT DID THAT TO ME I WOULD OF THROWN MY WII REMOTE AT THE TV AND KILLED MYSELF WITH FUSTRATION.

  • COOL CLOYSTER!! ur using Mud Shot first to lower foes speed, than spamming Icicle Spear with Kings Rock as item which gives higher chance to flinch, close enough?

  • @FalcnPWNCH That's correct.

  • @Overhazard but how did u breed it Mud Shot? i know Octillery learns it someway....

  • @FalcnPWNCH Mud Shot is an Egg Move. You can breed it from Krabby, Omanyte, Kabuto, or anything that evolves from them.

  • @FalcnPWNCH Lmao I wanted to try this out with shellder in trick room but never got around to it.

Does kings rock activate for every hit?

  • @GrassSquid you do know it has a possibility to flinch after EVERY attack not after every hit

  • @FalcnPWNCH So since icicle spear is one attack it just has a 10% chance of flinching?

  • @GrassSquid ou sorry i scrambled there myself, the chance actually raises after every hit i meant to say.....(my friend wrote that comment)

  • Awwwww Espeom my fab pkm went down :O but Cloyster that is awesome!

  • If I were the opponent, I would have cursed you out so much with that damn Icicle Spear. Hahahaha.

  • Cloyster is so great for so many fights... I set one up with a team designed to let cloyster avoid almost every attack, meanwhile putting Toxic. Whirlpool, and Clamp on a pokemon, they take 3/8 of their health or so every turn, I've taken down many tanks this way, but I'm not going to reveal the set up for this or I might have someone find a way around it

  • hey, do you have a pokemon game for the ds?

  • @biolyeon Of course. Most of my teams come from the Diamond version.

  • hey quick question is icicle spear priority attack

  • @chippy89 No, it's not.

  • yout vids r the best

  • I would never had guess that Espeon could use Signal Beam, good game. ^.^

  • spike cannon does more damage even with the type bonus and used with the item metronome it is a hell of an attack ^^

  • @SabishiiNekolein Of course, I'm not using the Metronome because that means I can't use the King's Rock.

  • @Overhazard so the opponents pokemon can not move? if yes thats a great strategy as well. too bad pokemon can't use more items than just one. well maybe in the next few generations with a special ability or something ;) i have to use the best item for all my pokemons cause they all r water types so its much more difficult to win for me but it is more fun as well if i do.

  • @SabishiiNekolein I also have an all-Water team and I know it's difficult to use them. You need to be sufficiently prepared and hope your opponent brings out the Pokémon you think they'll bring out.

  • @Overhazard being prepared is the first step and the next one is to suprise ur opponent. a good strategy can never be wrong but its also important to be able to change the strategy even with the same pokemon u have on the field. for example i also use pokemon which egg tybe is water like masquerain cradily or dragonite and during the time as an only waterpokemon trainer i learend a lot of them (and other pokemon i have to fight against) and i got a lil expert :)

  • Lucario and gallade? they'll get a free speed boost or something? due to steadfast?

  • @brandenzard What, due to flinching? Nah, flinching is impossible on the turn they switch in.

  • can't they just switch in? unsuspectingly?

  • @brandenzard Can't who just switch in?

  • I always Yawn when the move yawn is used! O_O

  • gallade and lucario will be happy to go against this cloyster. why didn't u use rock blast instead of icicle spear?

  • @brandenzard Why would I have Rock Blast on this Cloyster? For that matter, why would I keep Cloyster against any Fighting-type?

  • 0:50-1:01 lol

  • wow thats kewl with the cloyster :D

  • Your Cloyster must have some Speed EVs or something, because it only has a base stat of 70, while Porygon-Z has 90. Or, the Porygon-Z must not have many Speed EVs.

This team seems to base a lot on status, am I right?

  • @ChocolateDarts Clyster is definitely EV-trained in Speed. One Mud Shot will slow down anyone with a base Speed of 130 or lower so that Cloyster will be faster.

There is a lot of status conditioning thrown around in this team; you're right. Only the ones that prevent the opponent from attacking, however.

  • Wow! Does cloyster have a special ability and item that lets it attack 5 times all the time, and always flinches?

  • @rpggame16 Skill Link allows Cloyster to always hit 5 times with moves that hit 2 to 5 times. Gorebyss was flinching because Cloyster is holding a King's Rock.

  • That is smart! You know how to train your Pokemon :). I have a Machamp that focuses on always getting a critical hit.

  • I just had a question. I have Soulsilver, and here is my current team:

    Tyranitar-lv.64

    Gyarados-lv.64

    Meganium-Lv.66

    Ampharos-Lv.65

    Espeon-Lv.66

    Rapidash-lv.65

I was wondering. My Espeon is a Mild nature (+SP.Attk, -Defense), but it's SP.Attack is off the charts. At lv.50, it's SP.ATK was 163, and I just wanted to make sure this is normal, and that it is a legal stat for PBR. I also wanted to know if it's normal that it gains +5 Sp.attack every level, so is it normal?

  • @stepneyfan If you don't know where it came from, then most likely you got an Espeon that was EV-trained in Special Attack. Espeon's Special Attack shouldn't be going up by 5 every level, but it should be either 4 or 5 each level.

  • oh, and for the cloyster strategy, what's the chance it'll flinch with icicle spear + king's rock + skill link?

  • I want to use a noctiwl some time.....What is its best options? I'm thinking of EVing it in HP, Sp/ Attack, and Speed and giving it calm mind if it can learn that.....

  • Good win. I think I actually battled this guy about a week ago. Gorebyss used Iron Defense 3 times, Aqua Ringed and then Baton Passed into Cress who started Calm Minding. Needless to say I was screwed.

  • A flinch item on Cloyster + Skill Link.

    That's really something.

  • hey overhazard great battle and prettu good strategies but one thing puzzled me how come cloyster went first though did you raised him in speed cuz usually porygon z is faster

  • you can't beat me!

i got every single pokemon in the pokedex at lv 100!

    no one can beat me!

(except of course other lv 100 trainers)

  • That was a great battle, Overhazard! You've got fantastic technique and strategy.

  • @MickeyMouseNo1 Thank you.

  • Aha! The speed drop from Mud Shot allows for Cloyster to be faster than the opponent. It's ability allows multihit attacks like Icicle Spear and Spike Cannon to hit more times, which gives Cloyster's held King's Rock a bunch of chances to take effect and cause flinching. Clever!

  • @nin10doadict Yep. Cloyster has a very high flinch rate with Icicle Spear and Spike Cannon. Considering the low amount of damage, it probably gets pretty annoying for the opponent.

  • anyone wanna battle me... like today

  • Wow Overhazard! Cloyster is really really good! It has 5 chances to flinch and also i think Icicle Spear have a high critical hit ratio too. Real cool!!

  • can you please tell me what item your epseon has ?? thanks :D

  • @Ravynrules The item was used in this video.

  • @Overhazard crap im hell embarresed now...sorry soul silver distracted me.....

  • Mud shot? whats a unusaul closture

    Good battle

  • Porygon z sounded REAL strange

  • uhh.. is there any reasoning behind using mud shot over stab'd icy wind?

  • @Breludicolo Oh, can Cloyster learn Icy Wind? I wans't aware of that.

  • Through move tutor, yes.

  • @snowyarticuno Ah, okay. I must have overlooked it. Either that, or the Cloyster that I based this on was before these Move Tutors because it used Mud Shot.

  • @Overhazard

Uh... yeah by move tutor in Pt/HGSS or Emerald

  • the announcers voice is really annoying xD

  • Cloyster's strategy is great, i was looking for a good use for chain link have you had a good result?

  • they had a good combo to prevent sleep

  • lol i yawned when espeon used yawn

  • Cloyster's strategy is too obvious. But it is lovely.

    Awesome match!!

  • Judging from how your entire team is set up, I'm assuming it's destroy their accuracy, then use Skill Link in conjunction with King's Rock to flinch them.

Frankly I'm surprised you didn't try this as a doubles team.

  • @snowyarticuno There are no accuracy reduction moves on this team. All of the Pokémon on this team are self-sustaining; that's why it's a single battle team.

  • True, I suppose. Though I still think it'd be interesting to see how the team would do in a double battle.

Also my bad, I had thought it was "Mud SLAP" not "Mud SHOT"

  • Awesome amount of creativity shown in this battle!

  • Man that Cloyster set is awesome I had no idea King's Rock was applied for every hit of a Multi Hit Attack. I wonder if Technician, the item, works the same way.

  • I love your Cloyster, partly because it did not just use Explosion. Awesome job!

  • Great battle, all around. Both you and your opponent used some interesting tactics. Nice use of Icicle Spear and Skill Link, too.

  • yeah

  • Huh. I'm guessing that your Cloyster doesn't have Spike Cannon, because that would have done more to Gorebyss than Icicle Spear did...

  • I believe Cloyster's got King's Rock?

  • lol, i though Porygon-Z was scarfed! xD

  • So, Psychic, Signal Beam, Calm Mind, and Yawn on Espeon. Good set!

Awesome Cloyster though. I didn't know that was true about flinching.

  • @ARodYankFan Yeah, it looks like I'll leave Espeon's move selection alone next time.

  • Cloyster looks like he's throwing up when he uses Mud Shot.

  • what would you recommend for cloyster?

    shell armor or skill link

  • Depends on what you want. If your Cloyster's gonna have Icicle Spear and Rock Blast, then Skill Link. If neither one of those moves, then go Shell Armor.

  • Mine had Skill Link, so I gave it Clamp and Icicle Spear.

  • O_o I didn't know Icicle Spear could make it flinch...

And here I said it was a useless move...

  • Icicle spear doesnt cause flinches. Cloyster was probably equipped with Kings Rock or Razor Fang

  • Actually, I think Cloyster is holding a King's Rock. That's actually smart if it is... it has 5 chances to flinch the opponent.

  • @ShayminUser001 Yep, it's a King's Rock. I confimed it in the Friend Code Contest.

  • @Overhazard: Wow... I was just guessing, but I'm glad I was right.

  • It can't, Kings Rock or other item was being held.

  • You have killed the robot.

  • GG you'r team is very good !

  • you slow down your opponent with icy wind or mud shot then you shoot rock blast or icicle spears or spike cannon holding kings rock or razor fang. If you add skill link to this whole combination you get 55% chance of flinching your opponent (almost like flinch-rachi) i once faced opponent with this strategy using my curse-lickylicky you can probably tell that this battle took AGES i personally think that using items like kings rock, quick claw or focus band is unfair :(

  • Why unfair? Because they're effective? Please notice that you cannot just throw out a pokemon with King's Rock to own a match, you need to build a strategy around that item. And of course your opponent can easily come up with a counter-strategy to spoil yours. That's what this game should be about.

I'm sick and tired of all those who whine about this and that. Pokemon is fun because you have OPTIONS. Pokemon is not about close combats and ice beams, you know.

  • @Giby86 I agree there, that's why I hate standard tiers, too predictable. Everybody has the same pokemon with the same moves. I once battled on Shoddy and brought out a clefable and used gravity to increase the accuracy of sing, the guy left the battle, dunno why to be honest.

  • @nikodem123asdf or togekiss with thunder wave then razor fang with the ability serene grace and air slash for 75% flinch and 25% para haxs :D

  • I LOVE your team. <3

  • Your Cloysters set is pretty popular amongst japanese players! I fought a couple last month with an almost identicle move set. Is that where you got the idea?

I have a few battles where an opponent uses the same Icicle Spear/Kings Rock technique!

  • @atreecko @atreecko I got it from a similar concept, where I believe Scope Lens was used in a double battle with the partner being a Primeape with Anger Point.

If it is identical, then I suppose it's by coincidence. The other two moves have not been revealed yet, however.

  • @Overhazard - I can almost guarantee I know the last two moves! I don't mean to sound like a "know it all" but theres a definite a pattern, I'm just wondering whether the others can actually see it. I won't give it away as I know you like to expose it yourself.

  • that was a very interesting battle and I love your strategy with your espeon

  • Yay! Now no-one can post 'yay! first comment!'

On a more relevent note: that's a pretty good stratergy with Cloyster. You've found a way to make King's Rock non-luck reliant, and I admire you for that. 5 hits = 5 chances to flinch. Nice!

Regarding Cresselia, It used to be one of the biggest OUs around, but it's fallen from the spotlight now. Not entirely sure why, maybe there's too much Tyranitar.

  • @BigKlingy I notice this tends to happen with defensive Pokémon. It happened with Tangrowth too.
