In the beginning when espeons synchronize poisoned cressalia too I thought they must've been kicking themselves since espeon just used a lum berry so only cresselia got poisoned.. but then I realized that the poison stopped cresselia from falling asleep.. so they might've meant for that to happen X.X besides the lum berry anyways.
COOL CLOYSTER!! ur using Mud Shot first to lower foes speed, than spamming Icicle Spear with Kings Rock as item which gives higher chance to flinch, close enough?
Cloyster is so great for so many fights... I set one up with a team designed to let cloyster avoid almost every attack, meanwhile putting Toxic. Whirlpool, and Clamp on a pokemon, they take 3/8 of their health or so every turn, I've taken down many tanks this way, but I'm not going to reveal the set up for this or I might have someone find a way around it
@Overhazard so the opponents pokemon can not move? if yes thats a great strategy as well. too bad pokemon can't use more items than just one. well maybe in the next few generations with a special ability or something ;) i have to use the best item for all my pokemons cause they all r water types so its much more difficult to win for me but it is more fun as well if i do.
@SabishiiNekolein I also have an all-Water team and I know it's difficult to use them. You need to be sufficiently prepared and hope your opponent brings out the Pokémon you think they'll bring out.
@Overhazard being prepared is the first step and the next one is to suprise ur opponent. a good strategy can never be wrong but its also important to be able to change the strategy even with the same pokemon u have on the field. for example i also use pokemon which egg tybe is water like masquerain cradily or dragonite and during the time as an only waterpokemon trainer i learend a lot of them (and other pokemon i have to fight against) and i got a lil expert :)
Your Cloyster must have some Speed EVs or something, because it only has a base stat of 70, while Porygon-Z has 90. Or, the Porygon-Z must not have many Speed EVs.
This team seems to base a lot on status, am I right?
@ChocolateDarts Clyster is definitely EV-trained in Speed. One Mud Shot will slow down anyone with a base Speed of 130 or lower so that Cloyster will be faster.
There is a lot of status conditioning thrown around in this team; you're right. Only the ones that prevent the opponent from attacking, however.
@rpggame16 Skill Link allows Cloyster to always hit 5 times with moves that hit 2 to 5 times. Gorebyss was flinching because Cloyster is holding a King's Rock.
I just had a question. I have Soulsilver, and here is my current team:
Tyranitar-lv.64
Gyarados-lv.64
Meganium-Lv.66
Ampharos-Lv.65
Espeon-Lv.66
Rapidash-lv.65
I was wondering. My Espeon is a Mild nature (+SP.Attk, -Defense), but it's SP.Attack is off the charts. At lv.50, it's SP.ATK was 163, and I just wanted to make sure this is normal, and that it is a legal stat for PBR. I also wanted to know if it's normal that it gains +5 Sp.attack every level, so is it normal?
@stepneyfan If you don't know where it came from, then most likely you got an Espeon that was EV-trained in Special Attack. Espeon's Special Attack shouldn't be going up by 5 every level, but it should be either 4 or 5 each level.
I want to use a noctiwl some time.....What is its best options? I'm thinking of EVing it in HP, Sp/ Attack, and Speed and giving it calm mind if it can learn that.....
Good win. I think I actually battled this guy about a week ago. Gorebyss used Iron Defense 3 times, Aqua Ringed and then Baton Passed into Cress who started Calm Minding. Needless to say I was screwed.
hey overhazard great battle and prettu good strategies but one thing puzzled me how come cloyster went first though did you raised him in speed cuz usually porygon z is faster
Aha! The speed drop from Mud Shot allows for Cloyster to be faster than the opponent. It's ability allows multihit attacks like Icicle Spear and Spike Cannon to hit more times, which gives Cloyster's held King's Rock a bunch of chances to take effect and cause flinching. Clever!
@nin10doadict Yep. Cloyster has a very high flinch rate with Icicle Spear and Spike Cannon. Considering the low amount of damage, it probably gets pretty annoying for the opponent.
Wow Overhazard! Cloyster is really really good! It has 5 chances to flinch and also i think Icicle Spear have a high critical hit ratio too. Real cool!!
@snowyarticuno Ah, okay. I must have overlooked it. Either that, or the Cloyster that I based this on was before these Move Tutors because it used Mud Shot.
Judging from how your entire team is set up, I'm assuming it's destroy their accuracy, then use Skill Link in conjunction with King's Rock to flinch them.
Frankly I'm surprised you didn't try this as a doubles team.
@snowyarticuno There are no accuracy reduction moves on this team. All of the Pokémon on this team are self-sustaining; that's why it's a single battle team.
Man that Cloyster set is awesome I had no idea King's Rock was applied for every hit of a Multi Hit Attack. I wonder if Technician, the item, works the same way.
Depends on what you want. If your Cloyster's gonna have Icicle Spear and Rock Blast, then Skill Link. If neither one of those moves, then go Shell Armor.
you slow down your opponent with icy wind or mud shot then you shoot rock blast or icicle spears or spike cannon holding kings rock or razor fang. Why unfair? Because they're effective? Please notice that you cannot just throw out a pokemon with King's Rock to own a match, you need to build a strategy around that item. And of course your opponent can easily come up with a counter-strategy to spoil yours. That's what this game should be about.
I'm sick and tired of all those who whine about this and that. Pokemon is fun because you have OPTIONS. Pokemon is not about close combats and ice beams, you know.
@Giby86 I agree there, that's why I hate standard tiers, too predictable. Everybody has the same pokemon with the same moves. I once battled on Shoddy and brought out a clefable and used gravity to increase the accuracy of sing, the guy left the battle, dunno why to be honest.

@Overhazard - I can almost guarantee I know the last two moves! I don't mean to sound like a "know it all" but theres a definite a pattern, I'm just wondering whether the others can actually see it. I won't give it away as I know you like to expose it yourself.
On a more relevent note: that's a pretty good stratergy with Cloyster. You've found a way to make King's Rock non-luck reliant, and I admire you for that. 5 hits = 5 chances to flinch. Nice!
Regarding Cresselia, It used to be one of the biggest OUs around, but it's fallen from the spotlight now. Not entirely sure why, maybe there's too much Tyranitar.

@FalcnPWNCH Mud Shot is an Egg Move. You can breed it from Krabby, Omanyte, Kabuto, or anything that evolves from them.

Does kings rock activate for every hit?

@GrassSquid you do know it has a possibility to flinch after EVERY attack not after every hit

@FalcnPWNCH So since icicle spear is one attack it just has a 10% chance of flinching?
