It's not just republicans that are the problem in modern society, it's conservative philosophy. It is left vs. right. It has always been. When the enlightenment in europe was in full swing it was conservatism or the right that sought to blunt its effect on society, all you have to do is look and you will see more examples of the right's thoughts and philosophies that hold societies back from an inevitable change. Right now, the republicans are to blame
