  • I have been learning and studying ASL non stop for the past week! I've learned a little over 100 words in 5 days, I havent even done school :) I am hearing but I love learning sign language more that anything! Your videos have been so helpful!!! Thank you so much, and I hope you keep making them! :)

  • wow very english sign language, I notice you aren't ASL.

  • @MyMissy2000 I grew up english sign language at age 7. That there is no ASL interpreter in my school from elem to middle to high school. Only there have english interpreters. I think after I graduated from 2007. I heard there have changed english to ASL. But I'm not sure. Mostly interpreters quit because of test or something.

  • @AshleyMichele07 That makes sense, but not to worry, as long you can communicate that all its matters. I knew there were ASL for years even before 2007, Maybe it depend where and what state we are in, I love doing ASL tho however am mixture of English and ASL but trying to become 100 precent ASL which it not that easy, haha. People say it is but will see!

  • Ashley, I have always loved ASL. Me and my whole family are hearing, but my mom taught me a little ASL when I was a small child. That made me very interested so I took 3 semesters of ASL in college. The last class I had was back in 2003. I haven't had anyone to sign to since then. Your video is really helping me get back into being able to see someone sign quickly. Thank you for all the videos! They are GREAT!

  • I know sign language too! Its such a fun way to communicate!

  • Hiiii Ashley u speak very well i have a deaf friend but cant really talk to her but she can read lips and i always wanted to learn asl it looks like so much fun my mom is deaf in one ear and wears a hearing aid in the other i keep telling her we need to learn sign language hope u r doing well -Leslie-

  • I'm screwed. It all looks really fast -_-'

  • Hi Ahsley! Thanks for putting up several videos teaching ASL to the general public. I was wondering if in the future, when you have time, if you could make a video of simple phrases, like when meeting a deaf person for the first time or a friend you haven't seen in a while.

Feel free to e-mail me at beckster555 at aol dot com if you want to. Thanks! : )

  • Hi Ashely! My sister and I are studying BSL level 1 (British Sign Language), and came across your video! We are total sign language beginners and are now studying for our 2nd exam. For our preparation we need to have a short conversation with our tutor and we got a some ideas from your video. Unfortunately ASL and BSL are totally different, so we struggled to follow, but impressed with your skills!!!! Thank you!

  • do you live in wheeling any more??

  • @98bakuganlover I was born Wheeling. But I live in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

  • wow...you need to be a interpreterter

  • This is awesome your a great signer. My class in school is learning how to sign the song 'one day' by akon and its really fun :)

  • i agree with grumpy89princess you have a beautiful voice...dont let anyone bring you down...keep up your great work...god watch over you and your family as well

  • If you learned asl for 13 years and you should use ASL like as very good at it and not use English Signs..

  • @B2Jr513 I am right now almost 15 years. I dont know nothing about ASL. I do not like it but I know some. My former interpreters and I like English than ASL. It doesnt bother me.

  • @AshleyMichele07 Ohh ok I respect that, I do understand english signs is easy than ASL. But My wife is hearing like u and she learned ASL in 1 year. So keep it up.

  • I'm pretty sure you have alot of deaf friends who use asl? why don't you use asl? it easy

  • i have a quite lot friends who are deaf. so i can speak sign language too ( not american sign language ) . I like youre videos =)

  • I've been trying to learn sign and I can't wait til I can finally watch your video and comprehend just your sign, not by reading the info box. Thanks!!!

  • You are beautiful signer I love learning sign language it very fun

  • Thank You

  • Ah, I live in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

  • Hey Ashley, I just found your channel this evening. I live in New Martinsville, WV, about an hour south of you. I am a student at WVNCC and I'm taking the Sign Language/Interpreter classes. I don't often see someone sign mostly English so it's very interesting to watch you. I'm in my first semester so I have a long way to go but I like to watch your videos to have more opportunities to receive sign (I think that's harder than learning it!). Thanks for sharing so much with us!

  • I noticed this not sure if it's right or not hah but you do you sign english or ASL? hah

  • I signed for English and never use ASL.

  • Ahh ok. lol.

  • Cool video. Story about you is almost same as mine, well part of it. I love to go watch football game, and difference was you in color guard and I was in JROTC. I am Hard of hearing.

  • Thanks. by the way I'm not Leo. I'm Virgo.

  • That's cool! so is my boyfriend, Doug...he is on sept 13th....hehehehe. i am soooo excited because i am taking him to disney land (he thinks we are gonna go camping)

  • You should take up the time to learn ASL. It's much easier to express your thoughts in ASL than Signed English. Signed English is very slow compared to ASL.

  • Well I love my english sign language. All my old interpreters that I had them when I was in school. Also my friends does english langauage. No one don't want to to do ASL. That our choice. That why we liked english better than ASL.

  • Oh ok. I didn't mean any offense by my comment. :)

  • your inspiring. i've been working on learning asl for a few years now.. still not fluent. but i want to go to college for it.

btw, colorguard is the bomb. =D i was in it last year,, now im on drumline.

  • hi ashley my name is Mesa i live in mn my son shawn was born deaf deaf and they tryied to change him with a cocular implant but he hated it . now he goes too the deaf school in farboult, mn so now they finally told me to sign, not keep my hands in my pocket can you help me learn asl?

  • i really like your videos. expecally this one. i'm in a sign language class right now, so watching you is cool because i can understand it! its so cool! also, it helps me to read sign better. and idea for you next video is to have the camera down just a bit, so we can see your signs a bit better. some of them are hard to see because they go off the screen. i really hope you get to complete all your dreams!

  • Yeah i know my stuipd digital camera almost cut my hand off. Because I don't want re-do it again. you know. But anyway thanks! :)

  • hey ashley im kasey ... well your video is so cute i understood everything that you was saying because my bestfriend is deaf she also attended a school for the deaf.. i started hanging out with her about a yr ago and i know alot of sign lng. sentences numbers alphabet you name it but i just wntd to tell you that any bad cmnts that you may recieve just over look it bc we need more people in this world that have a kind heart and and live knowing that you are different! good luck girl! <3 Kasey

  • awh! this is great!

    youre really inspiring!

    and call me weird..

but i LOVE when deaf people talk

    haha its so cutee.

and unlike most people, i can actually understand what their saying when they try to speak :]

  • this comment very offensive.

  • how is it offensive?

  • we try hard to speak to fit in to the hearing view of how we should be, and try to be understood and to just go off like that and saying it's "cute" when we "try" i find that offensive. but i don't want to cause any trouble here on someone's video. just saying, maybe be careful

  • Im sorry if I offended you

Its just that not all deaf people have the capability of speaking and those who do speak, i dont know, maybe cute wasnt the correct word.

I just love it, so to say. i love how deaf people speak

  • it's fine, thank you. I didn't think you meant wrong.

  • wow you are amazing thats all i can say

  • You are so pretty.

  • That's fast.. And amazing story

  • i've just started learning sign language but i live in england, is sign language the same in england and every other english speaking country or does each country have a different sign language?

  • British Sign Language, is Different to Signed English and again is different to American Sign Language which is more similar to french than english. Keeping in mind I am new to Sign myself, so please research and only take my comment as a pointer rather than fact.

  • you seem like a nice person ash. i wish you could teach me some of that sign language becuase im trying to learn it now lol

  • Have you ever thought about doing colorguard now? There are many independent units out there for people who have already graduated high school.

PS i love sign and i love guard (I'm an asl student and I have been in guard for 6 yrs.)

  • I was in color guard past 4 years at high school.:)

  • My speakers aren't exactly working and you're moving too fast for me to read.

    Are you deaf?

    I'm sorry for asking.

    I'm 11

I was born with a hearing problem but got it fixed.

I do know how to fingerspell though

  • Yes I am deaf. I lost my hearing when I was 2 1/2 yrs old.

  • this was great. i'm in the band too, and my parents are deaf so i'm fluent in ASL sign language. it was great to watch you and learn about you. its amazing that you joined color guard, was it hard for you at all?

  • Well...when I tried out for color guard on my freshman year. It take me alot work to learn and memories. I got very frustrated myself and i just thought myself if I would not be able to make it. But I finally make it because I was so happy.

So I have been color guard past 4 years(9th-12th grade). I really enjoy it alot. I miss color guard so much. It make me want to go back again. For me, sometimes it take me to hard to learn the rounties every practice but I did very good at it. :)

  • see is a method that some deaf people use and what ever mode is best for her let her use it. I know asl and English sign both but if i have a deaf child they will use English because i want them to have good English skills. It is important to have good English skills if you want to go to college because you will right papers and they are in English and there is a high expectation of good English grammar in college.

  • =) Awesome signing! I wish I was that good, but in all truth, I just started learning! I like watching your videos because they help me learn to watch and understand other people who are using sign language. Keep it up!
