  • sweet!!

  • Id consider that more of a hot rod than a rat rod. its too nice, rat rods are supposed to be rusty if you dont like the rusty ones then you dont like real rat rods

  • are those the origional doors for that body?...nice car..hope mine turns out that nice..

  • what year is it

  • i think if i was ever gonna build a rat id run on of my pontiac 400s

  • Nice rat rod/hot rod. To each his own definition of the two words.

  • Why do you call this rod a rat rod ?? This is a very welldone Traditional Rod and not a rat rod !!

  • whats a rat rod?

  • nice n clean, maybe too clean? bad ass car for sure :) too bad you don't still have 'er- the rumble was nice too-

  • loving this rod

  • Listen to that engine singing, brilliant!

  • excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wowww nice!!!!

  • Nice,a little 2 nice maybe.Can I still have it,please....? =) Great build.

  • Absolutely awesome!! I'm sure it belonged to one of the members of Originals Car Club over here in England for a while??!!

  • thats a ace rod man thou i think it needs a long teeth grill

  • thats not a Rat Rod... thats a retro rod... nice, but not a Rat

  • Looks cool

  • That's a real beaut.

Hey, any particular reason why you have the fan upstream of the

    radiator, instead of behind it?

  • i feel a nice 2 inch chop, white walls and cheater slicks out back would be nice. but still sweet build

  • what brand and color of paint did u use that is awesome??????????????????

  • are driving these things in the rain a problem for the engine, and visibility and safety...?

  • It looks great but, where's the fire breathing, scare the shit outta your girl, set off car alarms motor????

  • too nice to be labelled 'rat rod' , its trad style rod, real nice

  • one of my favorites.idles nice but low buget,i am choped and billet guy, ac etc .3 duce going on mine.prefur blower but have to change to much.

  • beautiful car. although i perfer rusty rods, there are exceptions :)

  • Looks awesome....I hate when people chop the roof soo low that it matches the tire height

  • Comment removed

  • My build is a 31 studebaker president coupe(5window) chopped 3 1/2" widened 5", sits on a 34 coupe ford frame, 4"dropped tube axle,86 Dodge omni rack,78 monte carlo front spindles, 70 lincoln rear on 76 camaro springs. 92 jeep fuel tank, seats and steering column, 69 lincoln 365 hp 460 cu in with a 68 mustang top loader . when its done it will be different. After fighting to fit many diff parts.. i realize why so many use chevys. they fit and parts are cheap. i love how this car looks by the way

  • Sweeeet!!!

  • The car is awsome!!! What paint color did you use?

  • CLEAN

  • THAT......is so clean, could be a little lower but thats classy

  • i freaking like the dash. the whole car is sick cant wait till im able to build up my 34 pickup

  • looks more like a hot rod if u ask me

  • Run whatever motor you want I do. I love old oddball motors too but the sbc found their way into countless rods as soon as they started leaving the factory and that's a FACT. Dosent this car live in england now?

  • @knucklebuster1964 Yes, this car is now in England. I sold it 3 weeks after I finished building it. I believe it has changed hands from the original owner in England. It was recently featured in Deluxe magazine.

  • I meant to say hot rod, rat rod is just a hot rod made with a lower level of skill, or standards.

  • That's a real rat rod. Engine is fine. Run what works well. That's the real rod ethic. People who want rules should stick to doing math problems and law. I also like the craftsmanship. I'm getting bored with the wacky racer concept art rust holed bad fit junkyard cute idea.

  • Congrats for NOT making this rod look like a shitball. This thing is badass and classy at the same time.Where did the dash come from, a Mustang II?Again, nice ride. Glad you didn't chop it all to hell...

  • I built the dash out of sheet metal. It is just two rolled plates welded on an angle.

  • cool ride, you gonna paint it?

  • Yep...lose that fan!

  • i need to build my own....bad. sweet ride man.

  • the cops would killing me, when i drive this rod in austria!!! i love hot rod´s! :-)

  • I love old school hot rods and I am a true believer that the motor makes the car. A small block Chev just leaves me wanting more...it's like the builder just gave up and put in the cheapest and easiest motor he could find....there is nothing worse than seeing something like a '48 Merc at a car show and under the hood sits a 350 crate motor...yuk!! This car with a Flathead or a Red Ram...sweet!!! All that being said it's still way nicer than anything I've ever owned.

  • Finally! Someone who gets it! I couldn't agree more! A car like this should have a Flattie, Nailhead, a 331 Caddy, a Red Ram, or Firedome, or maybe a 312 Y block Ford. Anything but a Small Block Chebbie Boat anchor!

  • Well, it's not quite a crate motor. Its actually a 71 lt1, high nickle block, with balanced and blueprinted rotating assembly. stainless exhaust valves .100 pop up pistons, bronze guides, 280H comp cam. If you want to see more it is in the new april deluxe magazine. a couple things changed from this video.

  • god damn right man..... I hate seeing a chevy motor in a ford.

  • Get that HI-TEC electric fan off there!!!

  • what a beauty

  • located in bc it looks like love these types of cars i have a 1984 s15 with a 350 sbc looking to build a rat rod for my next project

  • know what all these dummies with the "period correct" fixation need? ,,,a swift kick in the nuts and two words ,,fuck off!

  • maybe he wasnt going for the period perfect look...maybe he just likes 3 carbs..and used a pusher for clearance reasons..personally I like it...to me, a bad hotrod is almost non existent..

  • why go to the trouble of a three carb set up if your gonna run an electric fan? It kinda ruins the whole period correct look

  • how many model a's have you built with v8's? A tri power is no trouble, especially if it is progressive.

  • i have built two and currently building my third- Its a nice looking car but is it a clearance problem with the fan or do you think you are losing hp.

  • It was a clearance problem. I hate when people stretch the frame soo much to fit the motor. It always looks out of proportion.

  • How well does she saty cool with that pusher?

  • I never had a problem, well under 200 all the time.

  • Nice...

  • very nice.....were those the origional doors for the body?..

  • yes they were original

  • Why do people cll hot rods "Rat Rods"..A rat rod is a thrown together piece of shit...That doesnt look like a piece of shit to me?

  • your right, its a hotrod! most new guys don't know the difference!

  • who cares, except you two. I can call what ever i want.

  • yea, your right. "posers" like you can call "what ever i want".

real car guys call them "hotrods"

    your grammer sux tool! LOL

  • sounds smooth

  • Sick Ignition Spot under the Dash!

  • nice dash

  • cool

  • Not a rat rod, but a classic hot rod. It's built better.

  • exactly what i thought,well said

  • goddamn Great Stance

  • small block chevy-cheap, easy to repair, durable, common. flawless paint- reeks of actuall money spent, probably grey base with a flattened clear. #1 thing that matters. DID YOU BUILD IT YOURSELF? and on a side note- IS IT FUN? if you didnt build it, then im not gonna look at your car the same. this is not a "rat rod" but more a mild traditional hot rod coupe. glad ya put it up on the tube, and im glad you see beyond the sbc for your other projects. cant argue the point though, even if sbfs rok

  • I build the frame, the motor, the suspension, zoomies, body mods. plus i painted it myself. was my first build

  • you have a nice car

  • dude come on, put a grill on this!

  • Small Block Chevy! Yawn.........!

  • Are you yawning because you haven't had your nap today, you old fart.

  • No, I'm yawning from all the Small Block Chevys mascarading as Rat Rods! Build an interesting engine for Christ's sake! How about a 348, or 409 if you just HAVE to run a Chevy? How about an Nail Head Buick, or an old 421 Pontiac? How about an early Caddy?

How about a Flathead? ANY MAKE OF FLATHEAD!!! Small Block Chevys are done to death! Personally, I don't think anything with a Small Block Chevy, or any modern '65 and later engine, should even be considered a Rat Rod!

  • i agreee

  • Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad car! I like the Strombergs, and yes I've actually built a few! I've still got a modified 1/4 inch drive socket for punching out accelerator pump leathers for them!

I'ld just like to see them on an old Hemi, or maybe an early Olds!

Oh yea! I'm 52 years old, and I lived every fucking one of those 52 years! I'm an old biker, old rodder, and I was doing this shit before you were even born How about a little respect? I earned it!

  • your ignorance doesn't deserve any respect. I'll have you know, i currently have a 331 hemi with 6 holley 94s (those aren't strombergs), a 21 stud flathead with aluminum heads and an evans intake. my dodge has a flathead six with dual fenton intake and split exhaust manifold. This has been argued a million times, how do you know that motor is not pre 65

  • Simple! It has side motor mounts! If it was and old 265 which would have been correct to a fifties car it would have FRONT motor mounts and no bosses for side mounts!

I'm not sure, but I think it was 1960 for the first Small Blocks with side motor mounts

Oh by the way! those Holleys are a replacement for the Strombergs. It's almost impossible to tell one from the other from the video, so lighten up! I'm just sick of seeing small block Chevys every where I look!

  • if you cant tell the difference between a stromberg and a holley, you should not be commenting. the fuel bowls are completely different.

  • 331 Hemi, eh! NOW we're talking! A 21 stud flathead is a nice engine too! Just remember it only has three main bearings, and it needs to have the crank balanced really REALLY well!

There's a place named "Hot Heads" and they've got some really nice stuff for the old Chrysler Fire Powers, and Dodge Red Ram Hemis

  • rat rods are pieces of shit put togeder with tacks to held the body or rusted body that you just chopped yesterday and didnt even grind the welds......this is a HOT ROD plain and simple , no patina and everything is safely bolted..and rat rods cost 100$ this is a 10 000$ car......why is this a rat rod, cause its gray?? with flat black ?

  • Custom frame, working gauges, cush suspension, paint, twice pipes, seat belts? ebrake???

Do you trailer this RAT to the car shows?

    Sweeeet!

  • cool ride...i was thinking if you changed those rubber fuel lines to copper/brass lines that would look so sweet.....anyways, it's a badass rod & i bet its mad fun whip'in it around town...lol

  • i am not into "rat" rods, but that is very cool. i would at least make a crude grille for it. take a bird and that fan is toast. nice job!

  • That is gorgeous. Move over Nancy I'm driving!

  • Not sure if I would call that a Rat Rod... but it sure is a sweet ride... nice job.

  • Nice ride Modelacoupe, I'd call it a rat just a nice one... fuck'em!

  • man sick rat bro

  • wow, nicely done man.

  • Like the car.

I'm building a 23 T I bought out of a barn. I have front brakes that look a lot like those, what are they from. I tried putting on discs from a mid 70's GM, but adaptors don't fit.

    Help.

  • That is really nice.

Please change the title its definitely not a Rat Rod, not in a million years!

  • Very tastefully done hot rod. Kudos!!

  • That isn't a rat rod.

  • Gee that hasn't been said a hundred times yet

  • Well its bad ass what ever it is :D

  • Very Nice Job! I Love It

  • Nice to see there is no rust holes in it.Yeah, wider tires with chrome reverse rims, maybe wide white walls, just more to clean though.Anyways what a sweet car.The builder should be proud.

  • Damn this car is sick

  • Put fater tires on the back and it will be complete.

    Bad ass ride...

  • that car looks to good to be a rat rod old school hotrod maybe but not ratrod

  • pretty clean, perhaps too mauch for a ratrod

  • Unique exhaust system there!

    You running no air filters???

W/ no rear bumper, no fenders, etc.

    ...Is it 'Street Legal?

    ---'Johnny Law' after ya?

  • Old school hotrod

  • Very nice ride! I love everything except the motor

  • Down under we call "Y" blocks "boat anchors". That engine is, I'm sure a small block Chevy. The carbs look like Strombergs.

  • Very nice no rusted rod :D

tell me what the engine?? y-block???????

    great sound!!

  • thats clean

  • what year exactly is that model A?

i'm in love with that exact car

the only thing i would do differently is do the interior pin striping in red instead of blue. but its yours and i love what you did to it

  • i don't really know, it was a bunch of parts, either '28 or '29. i used a '30 '31 visor because it looked better. the rear window is custom made. the car started off as a leather back.

  • nice ride, sonny. you appear to be from b.c. me, too. haven't seen you on the road anywhere yet.

and, as others have mentioned, that is NOT a rat rod by any standard. call it what you like, but that ain't no rat.

  • Do I see 3 carbs?

  • yeah, three dueces[ two barrel carbs]

  • sweet ride--this is not a rat rod--way to nice to be called that--well done!!!

  • This is a great ride. I am partial to 30/31 Model A coupes myself.

  • Awsome rod dude,I myself have a 31 model a 4 door Murry,gonna make a rod out of it........

  • nice and clean!!! i think rat rods are whatever you want them to be but if you too much money into it no one else will know..... but fuck em.

  • uncap those dumps!

  • cool exhaust set-up!

  • anyone here can tell me please how much detail (paint, interiors, etc) can be put on a ratrod without being excessive?

  • However much you like IMO

Its your car and whatever you think looks good, looks good!

  • however much it cost to paint it flat black and fill up the tank....anything over that is way to much

  • sweet rat rod i would like one like that

  • I have see lot's of rat rods , but when I see one that screams Bitchen,I have to say , right on. RV

  • i like this rat rod, the roof isnt chopped way to much, its not way to low its perfect!!

  • Nice car! But it's not a Rat Rod.

  • I liiiiiiike your taste !!!!

  • That is an interesting exaust. I've never seen anything like that before. Nice car.

  • looks like a B.C plate on there.haven't seen the car around. You up in the interior?Car looks good except the grill showin the electric fan, thats just me though.

  • NICE SOUND :D

  • Very nice sound. Engine from hell. 5/5

  • nice car, shitty mill, decent induction...

    did you build it?

  • yeah i built it. the motors not as nice as the ones you have there, but it did ok for a '71 lt1 with double bump heads, pop up pistons, stainless valves, balanced and blue printed rotating assembly and a powerglide.

  • what dont it drive? take the fucker out on the street and let it rip buddy.

  • i drove it everywhere i could with my wife and a baby seat in it. 2 month old daughter loved the sound. this video was for the guy that bought it in england. it ended up being a feature car and on cover of a magazine in the uk

  • That's one slick rod you have there , clean and simple , I like it .

  • kinda needs air cleaners its suckin in alot of dusta and shit that aint good

    but a very cool car

  • you're a moron.

  • don't be a dickhead like that.

  • sweet tri mill chev small block, alright.

  • Nice hot rod! Too nice to cal a "rat rod"..good job

  • hard to believe these were the cars that started hot rods old flat black junkers but thier cool thoe

  • if you selling car let me know

  • closer to a rat rod then a hot rod

  • opions are like assholes. we all have one and sometimes they stink. rat rod or w/e, its still cool

  • opinions.

  • flat paint and minimal chrome do not a rat rod make! old school, yes...rat rod, no.

  • Wow, great job. As soon as I saw it I thought I recognised it. It's here in the UK and totally blew me away. Sexy as hell now with the interior finished have a look at the NSRA website and check out pictures of Billing 2008

  • If you don't love the sound of that exhaust, you've obviously got problems :P

  • THE TERM "RATROD" IS PLAYED OUT.

this car is too nice to be a ratrod

  • Stunning, beautiful car wish a hynotic sound.

A project to be very proud of I am sure.

  • extremely clean car i would put that in my garage before i would put chip foose crap in thier not to be rude i is a car guy i just don't feel a nice car is like $200.000 nice thats all lol!build me one please!!!!!! na i'll build it myself when i can find the time

  • SAAAAAAA WEETTT !

  • That is a clean car....If thats a rar rod im in trouble. NICE RIDE

  • If it's his car then he can call it the hell ever he wants. Beautiful car.

  • Whether its a rat rod doesnt matter, its just fucking cool!

  • nice fuckin ride ...i want one

  • That's what I like about these cars! They are so damn easy to work on which is so cool!

  • Too clean to be a rat rod! There's tread on the tires. This might even qualify for a valid license plate. When you shut the driver's door, does the other door fall out?

And you call THIS great coupe a rat rod? Those Strombergs don't fool anyone. This is a quality piece. Shame on you.

  • well ya know, i agree rat rods are thrown together dangerous cars, but really there is no such thing as a rat rod, that term didn't come about until the 60's. Back in the day they just called em hot rods. Hell call it what you want, let's just both be greatful he's not another fool in a honda!

  • VERY CLEAN!

  • how much does it cost to build one of those???

  • alot, how much do you have?

  • im 19, still saving money, i plan about 20k is that enough??
