Yeah, it's seems possible. Digitech was acquired by HARMON company earlier this year. They may have discontinued it or will release a new version. I went to the website and didn't find it either! If you want to buy one, I see they are are ebay, or try a music store that may have some left over. It's a shame , as it is truly a great little effects box :-(
mate, first connect the guitar to this machine guitar input, then connect the output to the distorter. The machine is getting clean sound and the final guitar is distorted.
This is the 2nd part of my question. Sometimes, the alphanumeric display would have gibberish lettering on the display until i hit the pedal again. My question is does it have a power consumption standby mode / built in protection? Or perhaps designed to communicate in Klingon? =) Has this ever happened to you?
Hi! I originally watched ur video to find out if it was something i could work with...and after buying the digitech live 4, i have no regrets. It is so awesome. I do have 1 question though, i used it for 4hours with my band...plugged into a power conditioner that was running everything else, and throughout the course of the gig...the alphanumeric display would turn off (But my voice & harmonies were still coming through) I had to hit a pedal to get the lights on the display on again.
Thanks for your response - I sure am going to try many different set-ups with the Vocalist 4 in my studio. Also to run a complete recorded guitar track from my sequencer into the unit - so that a vocal track can be soloed without having to play the guitar during vocal recording. This is a break through from having to record each vocal track separately!
Thank for your comments and watching. Glad it helped. I've seen other videos on youtube demonstrating this unit with a keyboard, and I believe it works fine, as long as the output doesn't have too much effects on it. If you do, you may want to see if you can loop it if your keyboard has an effects send and return. Another possibility, is that they have come out with a new model called Vocalist PRO which has MIDI in/out. Hope this helps!
very well explained .... especialy the parts about being able to use different harmonies by using push or hold and going from one set to another etc... I didnt know it could do that till I seen this here .
Hey man, good video, I have a vocalist live 4 and my harminizer is not set to where you keep your foot down for harmony. It was defaulted to where you hit it and it stays on. How to I fix it to where I can make the harminizer work when I put my foot on it and stop when I release it? Thanks!
Bought the VL2, died after a week of use?? effects button won't engage? return and exchange it with the VL4.. Are the Buttons that Fragile? I have use it once so far, sounds fantastic, but concern about the durablity of this unit?
hello friend... am I Brazilian musician and will I still buy on that month the vocalist but don't I know if I buy the digitech vocalist live 2 or that there of his/her video, the live 4??? which do you advise me to buy??? is the sonority of the dtv 4 more perfect than the dtv 2??? does possibility exist of in the digitech vocalist live 4 I to select only 2 voices as backing vocals??? thank you.
Hey. Thanks for this. I just bought the Vocalist 2 and am definitely disappointed. The harmonies sound great, but the effects are particularly bad. For instance, the auto noise gate is a nuisance. And the reverb is even worse. I am considering an upgrade. Do you think the Vocalist 4 (with the addition of additional reverb and delay parameters) compensates for my problems with the Vocalist 2. Thanks any help is appreciated.
I too had the Digitech 2 and was happy with the performance, BUT the 4 version is a gigantic leap forward. There is so much more to give an accurate control over the effect. For example, the thing I like most is the pedal control option of pressing down for the harmony, and releaseing the pedal to stop the harmony effect. For me this is critical to give a "true" sound. Also the Pitch correction and male/female voicing. It is 500% more effect for $200 more. Highly recommended. Thanks. Mike
The reverb is good and certainly an improvement over the DTV 2. I prefer a true reverb effect though. The delay is excellent and and gives a true separtion of the harmonies as well. It takes some experimentation, but on the DTV 4 is fully adjustable, whereas on the DTV 2 ... simply not possible.
I owned a digitech before it has been a while some purple model on the floor with a pedal, it was no better than a toy, LAG, LAG, LAG, NOISE NOISE NOISE!! TOTALLY UN-USEABLE. IS THIS JUST ANOTHER COSTLY TOY?
Good question. Costly toy??? Absolutely!!! But a toy that I believe has possibilities. The DT Vocalist Live 2 (I owned one) was certainly just that. This is a different ball game, but does require a bit of mucking around to get it right (and keep it under control) My purpose for doing these videos is not only to demonstrate what I've learned so far (hopefully saving some others some time) but to seek the input of other musicians to help me get a "clean" natural sound. Thanks for commenting.
Hello, I'm trying to use this VL4 with woodwind instruments, like a tenor saxaphone. I called the Digitech customer service, and the guy told me I needed to special order this model. Although there are no references at all in the manual for using this with other instruments, like a saxaphone. I'm actually having a blast using it, but do you have any recommendation for using this with instruments? I'm going to start to play with the changeable presets like pitch, but need advice.
Thank you for watching. I n response, I not sure about using other instruments because I've only used it with a guitar. Question for you. Are you playing the sax & singing or are we talking about two differnet people? Are there other instruments in the band? Because you could try different instruments in the band to run through the unit to follow the music (keyboard, bass, guitar, etc.) if the unit doesn't follow the sax well. Hope this helps. Take care!
Hi, man!! It's me again, the guy who asked you to show some of the other features of the VL4. thanks a lot for posting those new videos. Very useful for those ones who are looking for buying a VL4. As I said before, I ordered one unit from new york. I'm from Recife/Brazil and I'm waiting for my VL4 to use it live with my band JACK SOUL. If you wanna check it, look for Banda Jack Soul in Youtube. Soon, I'll post my personal videos, maybe using the VL4. let's keep in touch! Take care. bye
Your more than welcome!!! Thank you for the idea. I did a lot of this to look for suggestions from other musicians, and you opened my eyes to see, that through my experimentation, I had something to share with others. Again thank you and I'll be watching you too! Remember BIGGbrother is watching!!! Rock on and best of luck! In Italian "In Buoco Lopo" Ciao & out. Michael
I went to the digitech website but did not see this product listed. Did digitech discontinued this product? :-(

As ROMULOVOCAL asked (in broken english - smile), can you get just a one or two part harmony with the live 4.
Thank you.
tworth3 3 years ago
Yes. You may choose no harmony, 1, 2,3 or 4 voices or doubling of the lead voice. It's very flexible. Tahnks for commenting.
