Here's a tip I've put to good use, to keep the camera stable and smooth us a Cam Caddie to mount your camera onto. All those moving shots will look so much better and it can slide onto a tripod
I captured some great shots at my sisters wedding last fall with my DSLR attached to my Cam CAddie SCorpion, all the shots were smooth and memorable.
Hi, I'm on a limited budget and seen the sony hd1000 shoulder mount camera which is HD but not 3 chip, would you say this is suitable for documentary projects and wedding videos?
A wedding won’t be complete without photos and videos, of course. I would always tell my friends that these things help you when you want to remember the special event that happened even a long time ago. One thing I want to share is that when starting a videography business, one of the things you must do is to know your priorities. If you prefer weddings, then put this on top of your prioritized events. Try to learn more about how to cover this kind of event.
I ran a wedding video service for 23 years (now retired). Your advice was pretty much on the money (we will always have our own ways of doing things). The part I agree with the most is getting fully paid before the event. For example, I have no less than 12 wedding videos that were never picked up - dating back to 1996..,..
been doing filming for a while, and I already do everything he has mentioned..... but it would have been very helpful if i would have seen this years ago..

For starters:
1: Buy DSLR, it has its cons but DSLR's have biggest sensors.. even bigger than RED one! And it is 5x cheaper than described in the video.
2: Not only should you get a tripod, allso get a monopod, a slider and a stedicam!
3: Buy lenses! Tokina 11-16mm, Sigma 30mm, Tamron 17-50mm are the videolenses at the moment.
4: Learn to work with low light and maybe get a little portable light.. But use it wisely!
5: Color correction is essential, use Magic Bullet Looks.
