My friend is trying to help me retain numbers when they're in a list, not knowing it's a hopeless effort. The part of my brain that deals w/ numbers in a list, either up and down or side to side, is damaged.

I ALWAYS have to cover the other numbers or I can't add or subtract them.

I CAN'T do them in my head.
