  • I hope they don't add lurkers.

    They ruined the flow of zerg. Especially with observers being so cheap, and scans being so readily available, lurkers would just get owned.

    Even as support units, they could only be used with roaches to tank the hits while they get set up...

    Think about it, lurkers, although nostalgic, aren't good for the game.

  • @246trinitrotoluene Actually, there's a custom game mode for SC2 multiplayer where you can use lurkers. They're really helpful early on in the game.

  • in starcraft 2 how can u play a game using lurkers, i tried custom games in single player but its just the same as a league game, and in multiplayer join games there are way too many other games to lok through. I thought u could play a game vs the AI where u would have all the units available instead of just the league units like terrans goliath, wraith, and firebat. zerg units being the lurker, abomination, and guardian just to name a few anyone who knows plz help about the AI games all units

  • @ForeverGoth Create a custom game with one of the custom maps that have all units available, there are a few of them and with the new custom game interface it should be pretty easy to find one

    thanks though =D I plan to use them as heroes!! to get them back with other units, youll have to open other maps they have, then make a new map and you get tons of more unit selection thanks wgatray for bringing this to my attention

  • The first time I saw this I was ecstatic, but they never went through with this! Zerg NEEDS an early ground siege unit/anti barracks/gateway unit like this. Sure they Baneling works well but we need something of the ranged variety too. This would help against most turtlers (hide right up against the wall and with an Ovie just snipe off the wall) and even turn the tides of most battles than solely relying on some mass Muta/ling force to win battles.

  • Cannot believe they take lurkers away from us, and banelings? Who cares! I don't want them! Blizzard can do anything they want with that unit, it looks like something from Toys R Us. Put Lurkers in tier 3, I don't care! Just give them to me!! Or I'm going back to something that is now over ten years old, please don't do that to me. I don't want to die inside.

    Lurkers are god, i like them don;t get me wrong. But Roaches are better. Now if they give lurkers the ability to move while burrowed in HotS... They will become superior again.

    Most importantly is that hydras were > roaches.

  • In the other two expansions, they will have to add units, and not only in campaign but also in mulitplayer, because if they don't, people that only buy the game for the multiplayer aspect will not have the need to buy them. So, maybe the lurker will be part of the Zerg's expansion. Just maybe.

  • @TaoriUTS so true... but right now at mid high diamond level, 5 rax reaper is my biggest ragequitting thing. i dont mind thors as much because of neural parasite and marauders to lings but 5 rax reapers on lost temple is auto gg since if u get roaches they would either speed it up and harras or marauder switch. if u ling speed then u can counter a bit but thats only the smaller numbers. spine crawlers get killed so only thing left is mutas

  • @DudethatGross But the infestors require the last building in the Zerg tree while protoss can almost zerg you with invisible units, and if you want infestors quick to defend yourself then you'll loose in other ways, i dont want to be all whine but i cant play zerg anymore, they are way underpowered and i can easy win as terran where i loose as zerg

  • @maximo9444 True, but if you also think about it roaches can move underground so if you go to attack with them underground, they can go into the mineral line and hrass the shit out of the workers. And if the other person comes back to attack your roaches, the roaches can fight and burrow, fight and burrow. But yes, I do agree that lurkers were the best thing that happened to zerg. Because they are pure awesomeness

  • @tiracdemonhunterfear Actually no not unfair at all. If you have detection they can be attacked easily, and killed. You can also force your opponents to unburrow if you just avoid it for a bit, and they try to move in.

    Like, why have a wraith when there is a banshee? or why have a banshee when there is a wraith? Cuts wraith out, The lack of detection in this game having things like vulture mines would be overpowered. Why have a vulture or a fire-bat when you have a hellion, just things like this where they wouldn't have room for the new units if they kept the old ones. Personally i like the new changes.

    protoss has very fast observers and lurkers forces terrans to save up scans or get ravens.

    ZvT at the moment is my easiest matchup as a zerg player. ZvP is the one i have most problems with, if you are a fellow zerg player you would know that stalkers are way overpowered.

    You cant have lurkers if you have investors and roaches which move underground together, can mind control, can spawn 5 infested Terran per investor FROM underground. The lurker with those units would stop people being able to kill investors etc, it would be an over powered unit with the units that exist.

    probably just a macro kind of thing, i'm not as good at macro but my micro makes up for that vs zerg and protoss it seems.

    Yeah you will have an easy time against Protoss, most Protoss players shag stalkers so all you gotta do is get some Marauders ^^ Always love to have a Terran Teammate haha.

    Yeah sorry bad mispell, Infestors. Well what i mean is all you gotta do is make the infestors pump mass of infested terran to divert the opponent so you could stick your lurkers down, pretty much owned at that point. Then move up and repeat. Would be a bit overpowered if you ask me lol :P

  • @GuitarMasterGraeme you're talking about 2v2? i'm talking about 1v1 here. also any player above silver will have detection if they see you going for infestors (in the form of ravens or observers or overseer as zerg) which means that you'll die trying to pump out infested marines and not having another army nearby will get your lurkers killed very fast.

    it's not overpowered since unless you're going vs bronze/silver you won't have enough time or economy to get that many infestors anyway.

    and still infestors are useless once detection is up, just usable to go against newly put up and at the moment unguarded expos and even then it's better to not be burrowed to get infestors there faster to spawn infested terrans, it wouldn't be OP at all tbh.

  • When you open the map editor, click on new and make a new Campaign Map. All the units from campaign plus the lurkers are in there. You could also play Nexus Wars on B.Net to see them

  • Lurkers and all old SC units can still be used in the mapmaker. So yeah, Lurkers still exist. But I really hope they won't burrow that fast IF they decide to bring the lurker back in multy player

  • Blizzard is still testing the Zerg in the beta with feedback help from many people.

    There's a chance they may bring back the Lurker unit for the official game.

  • @jose1791 They said that in the campaigns you'll have access to units from SC and BW but not in the multiplayer. They've been thinking about working them into the custom maps unit choices, but I could be wrong about that.

  • @jose1791 oh they will. They are actually in the game. Open the editor, select campaign and you will see that they actually exist. There are a lot of other units too that were not in the campaign.

    Lurkers are the Zerg units that evolved from Hydralisks. They only attack when underground.

    Banelings are the Zerg units that evolved from Zerglings. They only attack once by suiciding.

    Prices different , many other things.

My truth is Terran without Siege Tank, nuke and battle cruiser could be fairly weak, but it's obviously never become the truth. Zerg is not strongest, I really love to see Zerg player moving their Luker and Zergling around the map trying to avoid Siege tank.
