@hyuque Actually they both did many times. It's a playing mechanic and it's overuse makes the song sound cheesy. Lots of songs specifically say not to use it.
@AfroRufy90 For centuries, "follia" and "folia" have been interchangeable and the idea of madness is irrelevant. The earliest record of the word "follia" is mid-Renaissance Portugal and relates more to passion than madness. The flexibility of the word is understandable. What isn't understandable is your arrogance to a matter you know so little about.
@bargsnaffle I love Baroque string instruments. These players are stupendous! And so much more so considering the greater reach on the viola fingerboard.
Outstanding performance! Bravo!

Could we do without the dreadful titles
and history ! He is interesting but the
sound balance is awful ..and comes across as much sawing away by all concerned.

is this a different la Folia, why is there a cello? and they added variations...
death0personified 1 year ago
they didn' do vibrato
hyuque 1 year ago
@hyuque Baroque music did not use vibrato as we do modernly, it was used more as an accent to highlight notes, even in slower passages.

Why are the cellist and harpsichordist not identified? This is a piece requiring the excellence of equal partners.

@afrorufy90 Corelli se fiuman!
All'inizio mi facevo la stessa domanda anch'io, ma po ho pensato che forse lui stesso la chiamò "folia".

Why everyone call it la folia...it s la follia...it means the madness..

no, la follia is the Italian and spanish modern term for it, but in the 1450s the correct term was folia

Why does his violin look so big?
Abrfitch1892 2 years ago
is a viola
not a violin
viola is more bigger
japonorikan 2 years ago
that explains so much. I'm a violinist. I guess i was thrown off...by the corelli violin sonata
Abrfitch1892 2 years ago
sorry to break it to you but it's a viola lol
jamesbnd1 2 years ago 2
@Abrfitch1892 Because it's a boroque bow
turtlespameater 1 year ago
what bows are they playing with?
wasdwasd1337 2 years ago
they're playing with baroque bows. That's why the sustained sound is much quieter.
