Average child deaths per swimming pool yearly in the United States? (1 per 11,000 pools)

I'm not sure how it is in the UK but nevertheless, statistically a child is more likely to drown in a swimming pool than get shot dead.

This isn't to say that a careless person can't kill a child with a gun, but it's blown far out of proportion.

Gun crime has always been pretty low in the UK. The recent gun laws have made no real difference to crime rates. The "In Cold Blood" home invasion scenario that seems to have every American shitting their pants is just as rare here as it is in the US. A bigger problem is teenage gang members who see guns as fashion accessories.

What it the scene? I am a forensic psych, I have studied these things for 20 +/- yrs.

In a society with lots of guns people are far more likly to be killed by someone they know(not necessarily a friend) In a society with heavy gun control someone is more likly to be victimized by a stranger. I live in New Mexico(lots of guns)We have a lower murder rate than average and being vivtimized by a stranger is rare. This trend holds true nationally as does lower crime with concealed carry. About as paranoid as any other country. Just about every other nation is just as paranoid in it's own right.

We're not really gun crazy either. Certain people love their guns, but every gun enthusiast I know is a very responsible person, who takes their gun(s) very seriously. You end up having crazies in every country with fire arms.
