Theres something about the way your kick was recorded, but cant quite place it. Maybe its the batter head EQ patch thats giving a mid-high tone. You could get alot more attack from it if you used the soft beater side. Just my 2 cents, pretty cool otherwise!
The plastic side gives me waaay more attack - this is an old video before I really knew what I was doing; try checking out some of my later videos, like "Evanescence - Going Under." The bass drum sounds about a gajillion times better now.
@SnareSpectre hey there i think what shadowicked said is that should a excellent drummer he doe'nt think you are but that is just hime i think you are a very good drummer. also i think i know what you did you listen to the music with the headphones on and the you had the music in the background right. anyway keep up the good work. comment back please.
Some Zildjian cymbals and a little spice from the Sabian cymbals makes a perfect cover.
And a big tip for those of you reading this... Don't think of everything like spices and food because this is what I said to my girlfriend and she dumped me: "The person who said LOVE, spice, and everything nice was right."
Haha I'm glad you noticed that - I thought that part I put in there was pretty cool.
They're both Wuhan chinas (SUPER cheap - although I think they were bought by "Agazarian" recently) that have been cracked so they die off really fast to get that trashy sound. The big one is 18" and the small one is 12". The 18" cracked on its own and I loved the sound, so I kept it on the set and bought the 2nd 12" and cracked it on purpose to emulate the same sound, lol.
@SnareSpectre Brilliant mate...thanks a bunch :) i'll try and get my hands on one of the smaller ones (cant really afford an 18") How did you crack it by the way? without COMPLETELY ruining the sound?
The 18" cracked just from regular wear and tear (they're made pretty cheaply)... it's about a 6-8 inch crack along the ridge of the cymbal, and the crack is slowly getting bigger. :) I drilled small holes in the other one about 1/2" apart, then cracked the cymbal between them. The trick is to get the metal in the crack rubbing against the other side of the crack so it chokes the sound a ton and doesn't let it ring... you might even try using a hammer and some goggles outside or something!
@SnareSpectre Yeah cool. I have a 17" china, but it just doesn't have the trashy sound i'm looking for...but then I don't really want to ruin a really expensive cymbal...
I'm thinking about selling it and buying one of the Wuhans...
I love Future Retro! I've considered doing it in the past, and at some point I'll probably get around to it - I've just been getting way behind on stuff I want to work on at the moment, lol.
Hmm now there's an idea...maybe not with other drummers, but maybe some sort of split-screen type thing with myself, like I've done on a couple of other videos.
Not sure it'll ever get off the ground, but thanks for the idea! I might look into that!

If you're open to suggestions, may I suggest a Streetlight Manifesto Medley? Fairly musical drumming, and really fun to listen to.
