Forty years ago, I fought with my squad to protect a village in Vietnam. Five of us lived and five of us died. Then, several days later, Bobby Kennedy was murdered.
I came back to this country with a broken heart and a leaden spirit. I found love and continued on, but my political aspirations were moribund. You and your efforts have awakened them. Your courage and idealism has helped heal a wounded soul. I am profoundly grateful to you and will be to my dying day.
How about stopping the war on drugs so that we Viet Nam Vets can legally smoke opium. I was introduced to opium back in the sixties and I believe that would help all old people accept the inevitable. Ron Paul is the only peaceful solution.
Gravel wants to legalize them all. The drugs proven through scientific study to be as harmless as alcohol will be sold at a liquor store. And all the extremely harmful drugs would be recieved through a prescription.
Most of us who have lived 35 or so years with PTSD are pretty hopeless. We need some money to live on and some meds to keep us mellow, and that's about all that can be done. It's the Iraq vet who maybe can be treated and maybe come out 5 years down the road in better shape rather than worse. There are many things I admire about the US but I have plenty of problems and I think only my death will end those. aloha :)
