the reason why i want one of these is beacause of neil young, i saw him play his old one and fell in love with that instrument, tell me how much was it?
I bought one of these.....and in a matter of weeks I wanted a 'real' banjo. Eventually I got one and I have never looked back since. I was given a very good tip for the guitar banjo though its best strung with fine/light guage strins or you dont get the proper 'banjo' sound. This guy is really clever and makes it sound great anyway. I have to confess that I do prefer the banjo though, it was a challenge to learn a totally new instrument but its been worth the effort. Thank you for sharing!!

Hey i was wondering, do you have that tuned in standard tuning? Because i heard deep river blues through it and i thought that was normally an open tuning
@TheAntiCommie I've seen them on Ebay along with a couple brands that are very similar but I believe I followed a link and bought mine at the specific manufacturer/distributor site. I dont have that link but I swear it might have been Rondo. You might google search on this brand which I thought was SX made by Rondo... Hope that helps
@LittleBrotherBlues ,great, I have just bought my guitarbanjo, what a fantastic instrument ! It just smiles at you. Mine is a cheap Ozark, but I am impressed at the overall quality for that money.
I am a guitarist , can I use electric guitar strings on the guitarbanjo ? The strings that came with are too thick for my needs
If you don't mind, could you tell me how sturdy the neck is on the SX 6 string? I've had experience with a couple of really cheap banjo guitars that have extremely floppy necks. They're almost unplayable because the slightest pressure of gripping the neck and even just gravity makes the neck bow and throw out the tuning. I've been thinking about trying out the SX but I don't want to have to deal with a super floppy neck. Thanks!
@evankinney I would say it was pretty decent and pretty solid. No wobbling or bending of the neck when you play. Stayed in tune good and seemed to be really good for a banjo in this price range.
@evankinney Yes a very good question that, because I bought a banjo and on the headstock the name was eastcoast and on the skin was REMO weatherking banjo head, I set it up with the intonation everything by the book, but there is no way you can keep it in tune, like you said breath and it's out of tune, so anyone out there steer clear of banjos with movement in the headstock, there are cheap ones out there, but anything under £350 I should steer well clear.
Hi, i plan to buy a guitar banjo. Don't want to spend a lot of money. Just one question, can you tell me the brand of your banjo? Is it a stagg or Sx one? Or can can you advice me one?
Hi man, I've seen you're good so I have some questions for you! :P
1) Some people say I've got to use acoustic strings, other people electric strings, other people say that 6 strings for banjo exist... I don't know what I have to do!
2) I think I have a problem with the "leather". My banjo sounds bad... It makes a deep noise. Maybe it's for the strings, but I think it's for the tension of the "leather". How can I "tune" it? I can't see any screw or mechanism for it. Thank you!
Hi man! I have the same instrument (exactly the same in the video) but I need to ask u a question, how do u play it when u r standing up? I wasn't able to find a good way to play it standing. I even tried to buy a rope for clarinetto but it doesn't feel right and comfortable (I premise that I live in Italy so it's really hard to find banjo's accessories here). Can u suggest me a solution, or maybe tell me which rope is good for this model?
Man, I wish I knew. I gave this banjo to my friend Mudcat or (Danny Dudeck) and he's on facebook. You might ask him. I think he has a strap that ties on with string on each side.
@33686 I use electric strings on my Goldtone GT500 Banjitar. Mostly I use top light /bottom heavy 10-52s Labella if I can get them or Rotosounds if I can't. Check out jimmyoneleg video "Facebook Friend"
i've been wanting a banjo for a while now, but i was worried about using a 5 string because i'm already trying to keep guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and piano chords in my head; so i was considering getting a 6 string banjo. now that i see that the 6 string is much different than the 5 string, i think i'll get the 5. maybe i'll get a 6 string in the future.
It looks very much like one. Wouldn't be the first time that brand names change with items sold in Europe (here in Europe exactly the same Banjo is sold as a STAGG for about 160€)
i know one thing- jazz guitarist django reinhardt used banjo guitars during his childhood but I have a real quick question and this doesn't have to do with anything but is it possible for a banjo player to play this instrument like he plays a banjo?
It's the way i play mine, you basically just pick out the chords the same way you would on a banjo, but the sixth string and guitar tuning make it a hell of a lot easier than having to learn a whole new set of strings, know what I mean?
hello.this is very nice.could you please help me out?i want to learn to play banjo..i play the guitar..do you think a 6string is more suitable?or a 4string because is simpler? or maybe a 5string?im completely lost......can you play in a 6string banjo whatever you play in the others banjos or it eliminates your choices?
Seek advice from a real 4 or 5 string banjo players. Those are real banjos. This is just a very cool guitar with a banjo sound. It's still a valid and great instrument but a completely different learning experience. Mine plays exactly like a guitar. Not the same tuning as 4-5 string banjos.
can you tune it like a real banjo i bought one like a week ago and am just getting around to getting familiar with it i play guitar i have for 6 years but i dont really know bout banjos lol
No instrument is simpler than the other; all are just different. You couldn't get the sound of old time or bluegrass banjo on a 6 or 4 string, because you couldn't frail or roll on a 6 or 4 string. If you want to do the jazz of a 4 string, you could get a very similar sound on a 6. Also, there are two kinds of 4 string: plectrum and tenor, but both sound similar and can be played similarly.
That's really all I'm playing is guitar blues tunes. Several common arrangements. Ticket Agent, Deep River Blues, Sat Night Rub, Flow Rag. Mostly noodling around really.
Hey.. I just received a Ganjo for Christmas, I think it's an identical model to this one. Great instrument, you're right about the narrow spacing! Hopefully I can pick up on some of this ragtime... great stuff!
I like that last tune you played. I just got a Dean 6 string banjo. It seems nice - I've got a couple of months to test it out; I may go to a 5 string.
Very cool instrument and very loud too!!! I like how the stars are offset so they stand straight when held in playing position, Gibson did that too on their headstock logo.
Goodness, is it really that loud? Very nice playing!

1) there are special strings for 6-string-banjos. They have nothing to do with common guitar strings.
2) if you want detailed informations you might find quite some videos on how to do it. Search for "set up banjo". Hope you find something helpful.

Right now I'm using acoustic guitar strings.
