  • This was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! Did this my last year of high school too!!! My solo was the second verse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very good performance!!!!

  • Muy Bueno :) Nosotros cantamos esta musica tambien!

  • I don't really care if the words are wrong. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that it sounds amazing ^_^ I love the blending in this!

  • @mrchucklesproduction he's not jumping; he's breathing due to an exhausting phrase

  • I like the monkees version best.

  • Im doing this song, and I'm in chorus! I am lost! haha :D

  • @ilovejohn8pie1 haha same here!

  • @ilovejohn8pie1 Im doing these too and im the only guy in my class that can speak perfect spanish

  • @kevineitor119 haha really? I stink at spanish :p imma girl btw

  • sigh. this is good. But i like the English one better. just because it still sounds the same, and kinda makes more sense to those who arnt Spanish.

  • This is really good! You harmonize well.

  • vicentesenent thats true, that would be bad if it ment the oppisite...

  • he Lyrics of the third verse are wrong. The original lyrics are: "Dios guardó DEL lobo A nuestra cordera". Which means: The Lord protected OUR (she)lamb FROM the wolf" The lamb is a Virgin Mary's reference, while the wolf means the original sin. So the Virgin Mary was conceived without original sin. Maybe? someone recorded the song changing the prepositions "DEL" and "LA" giving the song a totally opposed meaning.
  • @vicentesenent I've always seen it as "de nuestra cordera" - guardar = to keep; "God KEPT the wolf (away) FROM our lamb"

  • Wonderful performance of this awesome old song!

  • está muy bien..

pero parece que es la cordera la que se quiere comer al lobo xD

  • wonderful job! Great solos, great harmonies, and great blend.

    Your director must be proud!

  • Damn, I wish I knew which part is was that my friend Carolina was doing for the Solo, this is how it goes. she didn't make grades and the performance is tomorrow, so we need someone to do it, but now ms. dodd our instructor is gonna go all crazy trying to look for a new soloist and i wish i knew it so that I could just take over and she wouldn't have to get all crazy and lecture us. xP

  • this sounds awesome! I'm excited for my choir to perform this in 2 days :D

  • Is not "Dios guardó EL lobo DE nuestra cordera", is "Dios guardó DEL lobo A nuestra cordera" Are diferent things.

  • And next time, please, READ the music sheet.

  • that first female soloist is using a sound that's much to..."poppy" I didn't like how much she was sliding to the pitches

  • its vocal jazz, my teacher is the conductor and she is amazing so she knows what shes doing when she tells them to do something

  • But tone like that just sounds silly with a song like this.

  • its supposed to sound that way. its just not ur taste. sorry

  • um, it's jazz. Sliding is quiet ok.

But, I understand if it's not something you like in a choir setting.

  • As someone else pointed out, it's "Dios guardo del lobo a nuestra Cordera.." It's really hard to understand why, among the many many beautiful villancicos out there, English speaking people choose this one which is so difficult to pronounce (so many "r"s!)

  • ...hahhahahaa.....you guys are awsome.....i've singed this carol all my life...but I've NEVER heard it with english accent!!!..hahhaha...it´s so cool...keep up the good work...

  • I don't know the different arrangements out there, but this one sounds like the one the Monkees do, and it was arranged and adapted by: H. Diltz, C. Douglas, C. Faryar, J. Yester.

  • I loved it. We are doing this song in my choir. The solo female voice was amazing, and you, men, sound great!

  • I really enjoy listening to this :)

El Rancho Choraleers are doing this <3

  • Can you tell me what arrangement this is? I want to do it with my choir but there are like 50,000 options.

  • I'm sorry, my son doesn't recall who arranged this version and I no longer have the program. I'm not sure what arrangement it was.

  • @kmn83102 I am currently doing this with my choir now. It was arranged by Francis j. Guentner

  • wish got techno one heh

  • This is really good. I'm singing it in my choir, and it means hear the joyful nightengale sing. It's really fun to do.

  • The spanish diction is SEVERELY lacking and your soloist needs to stop attempting to be Britney.

  • the first female soloist is excellent

  • This is awesome!! You guys sounded amazing! My school did this song with just guys, and I think it sounds better with a mixed choir.

  • Perfeito! Maravilhoso! vi poucos interpretarem dessa forma! espetacular!

  • still prefer the Monkees version

  • better than when we did this.

  • alright. thank you to EVERYONE who is continually downgrading our spanish speaking skills. if you look at the entire choir at the beginning you can notice that Spanish is not our natual language! Therefore if you want to comment on "how we did" as a choir that would be GREAT but please don't comment on our "diction" cuz we know its not good. THANKS

  • I agree, you are a great choir. Actually I believe your spelling is quite good, that phrase just sounded odd to me..

  • Since when does original race depend on how successfully a person can speak a language?

  • Amazing! I believe there's an error, though: They say "Dios guardó El lobo DE nuestra cordera", however "Dios guardó DEL lobo A nuestra cordera" makes much more sense in spanish. Anyone else thinks this is an error?

  • We sang this song last semester. In the text it is EL lobo. Essentially God has protected the virgin from the wolf ... etc.

And the girl that sang the first verse, she sang the first phrase wrong. I know, I'm brutal. But the notes were still appropriate ...

And the text is technically archaic Spanish. There could be a few disagreeances with modern Spanish.

  • This may be the case, indeed. I will research this deeper and keep in touch.

  • Is this really a HIGH SCHOOL choir??? OMG!! you sound so professional!!! This is by far the best interpretation I found in you tube of this beautiful song.... and I'm a native spanish speaker...

  • well done really ....my choir sang it for or christmas choir ..yall blow us out the water lol good job

  • AMAZING! Love this song and love how this is done

  • we sung this song last night at our choir concert..so hype!! lol but we only sung the chorus in spanish...because beginning choir was there and couldnt learn all of in time, but they definitely did better than us..im pretty sure every school that's singing or has sang htis song has looked at this video lol

  • If a choir did, I'd fear for their mature success.

  • OK..AAAND? WAT DOES THAT MEAN?

  • THIS IS VERY GOOD! A capella singing is very difficult. This is in tune all through and captures the entire sense of dance(except the soprano loses the syncopation for a sec.)

    WELL DONE!

  • We just sang this in our Christmas concert, and we added claps and tambourine in there...

But yours is a lot better.

  • i LOVE this song!!

  • I don't know what some people are talking about... I'm a native spanish speaker and I think the diction is phenomenal, especially for a high school choir.

  • Horrendous Spanish, but a nice blend and a good sound anyway.

  • You guys are great. The male soloist is really cute too!

  • we;re singing this in choir and i'm so excited!

  • we are singing this in choir!

  • im doing this for chorus you also forgot the claps

  • We have to do the claps, and it sounds better without them.

  • we're doin this for cHOir!

  • uss too...this must be popularr

  • we are singing this in choir as 8th graders!

  • Us too.

  • i did this song in chior too

  • Yall didn't do the clapping =(

  • we actually are a high school choir, or were at that time. thank you to all the nice comments from everyone. sorry that we have bad accents in the song we tried hard and trust me it sounds better than when we started. also, thank you to the person who said nice things about the female soloist :)!

  • yep im in 8th and we are doing this

  • i'm definately doing this in choir as well. =) high school choir, though.

  • i am also doin this for 7th grade chorus concert! jockey hollow?

  • yea jockey hollow thats creepy i wonder if u no me lol!!

  • omg im singing this song for my seventh grade chorus concert this winter and its hard to learn at first but then it gets easier when u learn the lyrics better

  • i am doing this for 7th grade jockey hollow

  • Great singing, great arrangement. Terrible pronunciation, no offense. Most choirs in which I have sung have not done much better.

  • i think you did well great job i mean they are right about teh vowels and breathing but other than minor mistakes u were great it sounded good.

  • Oh...okay

  • Immersion?

  • You guys, the pronounciation was not the best, dont try to defend and say it was.

And also, the singing was good, but the techqnuique needs to be worked on. Breathing, lines, vowels, and mostly volume. Especially the girl's solo, the mic was WAY to loud for this piece.

  • Por lo menos son muy afinados. Me encanta esa canción.

  • OMG!!! the worst pronunciation in old spanish i've ever heard.

    honestly... awful!

  • In fact... the worst pronunciation in modern spanish even.

  • that is an awesome video.

im trying to get my director to let me do that song.

  • hey my choir sang this before! that girl's voice at 0:28 is magnificent!!

  • i think this is the best version of riu riu chiu.

  • nice singing, our choir sung this at our school

  • is your son the one in the middle? he's a great singer!

  • Yes, he is. Thanks so much!

  • Nice job guys. I live in Spain and I sang that song a month ago. Gratz.

  • FIT.

  • one of my favorites, good job. Sounds great. Thanks for sharing with us.

  • LOL my school was singing this!!!!!! Only the ensemble chorus i like it

  • our choir sang this in concert, too^^

we had some problems, especially with the language, for only half our class had spanish ;)

but it sounded quite good i think^^

really great song if you sing it like this choir

  • we´re going to sing this tonite! it sounds so GREAT

  • That was good.

  • What level of choir is this (College, High School, Etc.) Because they are really good

  • High School - mostly Seniors and Juniors.

  • Wow, our teacher didn't mention who it was sung by, simply that it was an old Spanish Carol. (by the by, it was actually this vid she brought up for us to listen to Riu Riu Chiu, and she mentioned the same thing about the speed)

  • Ay, que bien~!

They are really incredible singers. It was really cool hearing that song in class just yesterday.

    Cha~!! ^_^

  • Our choir just sang this and that choir just totally pwned us.

  • that's a good song =)

  • from what country is this from

  • The choir is located in the U.S. and the song is a Spanish carol.

  • It's so pretty! I hope my choir sings this someday!!!

  • omg, my choir is singing this

  • my choir is singing this too!

  • ;) My chore is also singing this song, but I am teaching them the words since I speak spanish!!!!! Ha !!!!! :)

  • my choir is singing this 2 no lie

  • Our choir class is singing this!! Haha

  • our choir is singing this right now! haha great job!

  • Great performance of this outstanding 16th Century Spanish carol. Bravo!
