  • WHO CARES WHAT IT IS. A direct sequel or not, listen and watch and LUV IT or get stuck with a temporal knife to the bawlz! LONG MAY IT PLAY!!!! DEATH TO SOPA!!! (not soup =P)

  • This was still the best. the best world, the best characters, the best MUSIC! When I broke up with my first boyfriend (wayyy back in 9th grade, I wasn't even sad, I just play Chrono Cross)

maybe if I every have a week off I will play it again.

  • Greatest game ever, tied with FF7.

  • Guess what this is in the ps3 store for download for 20$. Relieve the memory's!

  • Come on... Trigger had an excellent ending. A direct sequel would have ruined it. Let's see... Crono goes for his mother and faces Lavos again? Trigger used time travel. Cross used dimension travel. It's related enough to call it a sequel, although some people would liked to have a direct sequel. But, what, in Trigger, remained unconcluded?

  • They don't make games like this anymore. Truly leaves a long lasting bittersweet flavor. Really, words can't describe this game. It's like rolling a character and maxing out all the stats, perfect all around.

  • Anybody else feel that this game would have been judged more fairly it it wasn't supposed to be sequel to Chrono Trigger? I've yet to look into the plot, and so far I've heard the details that the plot gets good but is slow to start, hardly something unique to it, and that it has nothing to do with Chrono Trigger apart from a few references, and that it shoves the humans are assholes notion down the players throat, arguably going to far with it.

  • @dragonstormx Have to agree with you. If Square had slapped on a different title and edited out the handful of Chrono Trigger references then this game would enjoy a much larger fan base today. Of course, those of us who got past the lack of connection to it's "prequel" still enjoy it as it is a timeless classic unto itself. Truthfully though, I've often wondered if calling it Chrono Trigger's sequel wasn't just Square's cheap way of boosting sales.

  • @dragonstormx Indeed, it's not a "sequel" as we'd expect it, You should actually play it instead of hearing details. This game is to be played as a game, not as a sequel. It only has references to Chrono Trigger and Radical Dreames (SFC), but, as you say, it doesn't make it a sequel. Come to think, Trigger DS has been linked to Cross with the new ending. Not so ashtonishing, as we're speaking about Trigger.

  • @OmegaShinigami

I haven't actually played either game, I'm more a causal gamer that happens to like looking up lots of information on games. I don't what I would think of this one if I actually played since I heard the combat system is probably the biggest love or hate it mechanic Square ever came up with.

I've seen the stuff done in the DS remake that tries to tie both games together. It helps, though I don't know if I'll be able to get over the implications in and in Cross --

  • that they basically went and dropped the bridge on Chrono, Marle and Lucca.

  • @OmegaShinigami I actually think it was the awful psx port of chrono trigger that linked the two games through Kid, as the child Lucca finds and takes care of

  • @Namikukatchi Actually you're right. If you play the original SFC version, there's no reference to any sequel. However, Cross parts from Trigger universe, although it's another story. Not only through Kid, but through the fall of the Guardia Kingdom. Having played both games at their fullest, I have to say: A direct sequel would have ruined Trigger.

  • @OmegaShinigami I don't know if if would have ruined it exactly, the way I see it, is if an RPG was made in the span of 1992-2000 there would be a good chance that a sequel would've have been okay. Its how Square is fairing off now that I would see that franchise being doomed. I'm hoping this game series is closed off forever.

  • @Namikukatchi Nah. A sequel doesn't fit because of the time it's prequel was done, but because of how the prequel ended. Trigger and Cross had complete endings. None of their main storyline remained unconcluded, thus there's no need for a sequel. If any sequel would be to come, it'd be more than fair if it's an alternate story in the Chrono universe, but, as you say, hope the series is closed forever. Anything else will, most surely, ruin it.

  • So when do they remake Chrono Trigger, amirite guiz? AMIRITE?

  • @RetributionLife they remastered it for the DS.

  • @Jessjabog And pretty crappy, if I might say...

  • Far too many people have undeestimated the greatness of this old school masterpiece. Because it wasnt like Chrono Trigger people debated long and hard if it was good or not. WELL GUESS WHAT PEOPL? CHRONO CROSS FOREVER!!!!! ^o^

  • @screwthenet

Fans of Chrono Trigger hate it because it's supposed to be a sequel to it but has almost nothing to do with it. The game probably would have been judged more fairly it was just a different game entirely.

  • @screwthenet Agreed. Moreover, a sequel isn't necessarily a continued story. Another story based, or somehow related, with another, and being set after the previous in its timeline is enough to call a sequel.

  • Chrono Cross is so amazing! The soundtrack is gorgeous and so is the art!

I could play it for hours and hours, definitely the best game I've ever played. :)

  • The song here makes me want to play this game, but I can't because it was never brought to the PAL region. D: Why does region locking exist?

  • the 1.29 scene happs in the defeat of sky dragon, when you wake up in marbule

  • I'll play this game just for the opening theme when I'm bored.

  • i love this game, no matter how much of a pain Miguel was to fight. also sarge wields the coolest sword ever.

  • I fucking loved this game, and still do....it still amazes me to this day.

  • i wonder when the cinematic on 1:29 occurs

  • This is Seriously the best Game of all time

  • This game is truly one of the best in the world. I know I know, you're sick of reading shit like this, and I should be doing my homework. (We all know it's true)

You have NO idea until you play this game just how much time, dedication, love, and thought was put into it. The story is just beautiful. The twists aren't obvious. The cinematics are beautifully done for a 1995 game, and could really compete with games of today. There is definitely not enough recognition; I can't wait to get it on PSX

  • At my first playthrough I was so immersed with the story, I totally forgot to buy new items. I could not understand for the world why I was so easily defeated in boss fights.

  • Getting this on the 22! Brings back memories. Love this game.

  • I playef thos game since 2003 and until now i can still recall. Its definitly one of the best game for me. Hope it would be release in android.

  • square enix should make this and a FF7 remake, definitely one of the best RPGs I've played

  • Chrono Cross is now on the Playstation Store. Go get it NOW!

  • i prefer chorno trigger

  • Does anyone know how to get the cut-scene at 1:29 in-game?

  • I think YT countss only my vews :P

  • This is just something you can't forget, no price! Perfect game, perfect sensation!

  • can this be bought to the ps3 via PSN?

  • @RGScentral not yet, but they said it would be soon

  • *plays on ps2..works

*tries to save it on memory card....dammit!

  • woah it look so GOOD!

  • This game fail.

    Only Crono Trigger!

  • i never played this but Chonotrigger is in my top 5 of all time.. i should get this........

  • FUCK YOU SQUARE! OU JUST MAKE STOP THE EPICNESS REMAKE OF THE RPGS IN THE WORLD!!!!! CHRONO TRIGGER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YOUUU

  • I want the remake of this game...ON 3DS!!!

  • I really love this game, sux i never got to finish it bcuz it was stolen.. Theives!!

  • This...is one of the best intros ever,I still love it

  • every time i hear this song it brings a tear to my eye.

  • the best rpg of all time and will always be in my heart. I will never forget this game. ever..

  • EVERYTHING IN THIS GAMES GREAT

  • are go to make new game???

  • so...what's so special about this game? what's the story about?

  • @bronkoghma If i try to explain the story of this game in the 500 characters that youtube allow, the world and time as we know would explode and create two alternate timelines, also, a dark hole will open below me and an Eldritch Abomination from outer space that devours space and time would kill me.

  • @rinofang Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice saiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid...!! haha...!!

  • Epic Game...!! I too still have the original psx cds...!!

  • I'm a hardcore fan of Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantsy

  • its like final fantsy

  • 2:22. Lucca!

  • I got high everytime when watching this opening!

  • This by far is the most emotional game I have every played. It broke my heart in 5 seconds and throughout the game I've been fighting to repair it. It did an EXCELLENT job of it too. This music is the icing on the cake. This game was so great that it deserves it's own movie and series of more games. The love put into this game is not noticed well enough.

  • @juraikken yus it ne of squre enix's hidden gems just hafta look far into the mine of filled with FF and Kh to find this game, and when one does they find the frozen flame(chrono cross).

ya know ones a true fan when one has memorized the song and the opening words.

  • @juraikken when kid went talking about survival of the fittest...dang..that was some pretty strong dialogue. most other jrpgs don't reach that kind of level of script that square granted this game.

  • I still have this game (2 cd) on my PSone :p

  • @biscuit1990s lucky

  • best game of all time this game has memories with me and my brother great game never will there ever be a game like it one of a kind.

  • Chorono cross=10/10

    FF7=0/10

  • @CharlieBrownreal

You went a bit too far over there

  • This video's audio is not synchronized properly. The video follows along with the music much better on the actual system.

  • best game opening music ever.

  • last time i played this game 2001. dang that was a decade ago

  • Chrono Cross > overrated Final Fantasy 7

  • @Rupeklis

you must really feel proud of that comment filled with maturity.

Perhaps way to proud and blinded with internet-nonsense to realise that without the sucess of FF7, Chrono Cross could have never been

  • @BinaryDood You do realize that Chrono Trigger came way before Final Fantasy VII right? And Chrono Cross wasn't made as a response to Final Fantasy, it was made as a continueation of the series. They were both made by the same company so why would they compete with themselves? But as for one thing, your right in the fact that I would not say that Final Fantasy VII is over rated..

  • @KiwiDude7

Chrono Trigger came in 1995, of course it came before FF7. But the way FF7 was made allowed about 75% of the other Square games (or even outside of the company) to follow it's example. Without the sucess of certain games, evolution of certain series would either not happen or just slow down... Final fantasy 7 was incredibly sucefull, and it was also the first 3D RPG square made I believe, if it wasnt made, Chrono Trigger's sequel would not exist or would be incredibly different

  • There's an orchestra, hard-rock verson of this song on iTunes

  • where is all the great games we used to play in late 90? we missed them...

  • Screw those haters who treat Chrono Cross as a piece of **** and reviewed them badly. True, Chrono Cross is no Chrono Trigger or a perfect successor to it, but it's still an overall good RPG, with unique battle system, deep plot and fantastic musics and what not. Like seriously.

  • SquareSoft logo...I will always remember it as a symbol of some of the greatest RPGs. I miss my child hood where I can play video games all day...

  • @StylexSai Agreed, Something about seein that ole' Square Soft logo just brings back a lot of memories. lol

  • i hope if they remake this, it will be for psp or 3ds, not vita, cause i don't wanna pay $300 for the vita

  • SquareSoft used to be the definition of epicness

  • @pain75 SquareSoft is the definition of epicness. Ever since their merger with Enix they haven't developed a half decent game.

  • Never played it i heard it was like FF not CT but i hope they bring it to psn at the same time as CT.

  • The minute they add this on PSN is the minute I lose at least a weeks worth of sleep.

  • best jRPG ever !

  • I bought this game from a guy and it was full of scratches, now I have removed them with Brasso, the disc dosent look perfect, but the game works exellent.

  • Greatest fckin game ever made...People look up epic tha dictionary and this will be the meaning..Pure fckin geinus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They should remake it for PS3/PSP Vita

  • @TinaMinna290 NO NO NO. Fuck remakes. Play the original game!

  • @Pwells1 nothing wrong with remakes if they are done right. I mean i already played the crap out of the original, id love a remake

  • @Neldog13 Agreed, as long as the remake is handled with respect towards the original. Hell, the War of the Lions remake of the FFT is even better then the original. That's a remake done right, hopefully if they ever do a Chrono Cross Remake, it'll be in the same vein.

  • Chrono cross, one of the most badass games ever created.

  • im getting this shit after i beat chrono trigger lol

  • I really love this game OMG breathless

  • a legendary game i played long time ago,2 tumbs up

  • god i never played this game only played chrono trigger but god man i need to find this game

  • I remember watching this back when it first came out and getting goosebumps and still to this day I get goosebumps. It's crazy, no other song does that to me.

  • Excellent game!, Belongs in my top 5 all time, great story, great music = Great time!

  • I will love this GAME Forever and Ever

Thumbs up if you love this game:D

  • @miggy1230615 My Fav game of all time!

  • @Tigereye20098

The memories in that game that i play will not fade even if i became old

  • Whoa... i've never seen that scene Played in the game... 1:27

  • @alpoch01 that scene is from that part when you break into that manson in the beggining of the game

  • mad underrated game!!!

Also FF9 not bad at all peeps

  • @USCHoodman wow. i think you and i might be the only 2 people that ever liked ff9! all my friends HATED it! why!?

  • @itsuyo211 I love FF9, it's my favorite Final Fantasy so far!!!!!

  • @itsuyo211 not enought brooding like the previous 2 , but that's just an educated guess.

  • 20 guys need to be killed to make a body change with guys that know what are good and that want a new body to conquer the world :D

  • I may be only tweleve, but I'm an old gamer at heart! Games like Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross should be more famous than the crap they try to feed us today.

Mabye people my age would be less ignorant if they played more games like this.

    (I'm not talking about everybody...)

  • I'm soo fun play the Game Chrono Cross

if there is a definite yes I am watching movies

  • more games nowadays have no great stories that can register on the mind of the gamer..it doesn't make any sense. that Call of Duty and other related games? duh!

  • its 2011....had this game in 2000, beat it in 2004 (when I actually began to appreciate games like this) and still watch vids and reminisce ... Video games, music and movies will forever be essential parts of every generation's childhood....

  • tears come out from my eyes when i watch this. i miss those times when i could play this hours straight with no concerns on my head...

  • This whole game is bealtifull, no more, no less

  • I hadn't even started Kindergarden when this game was released, and to me, it looks as amazing as any other game out today. It's too bad that they don't release older games anymore. I would certainly be there buying it. It's too bad developers think that all we want is fucking Call of Duty...

  • @spo0o0ky

I agree the games back then were awesome, some still are (not Call of Duty) but they can never top the old games like these.

  • @castlecrashergirl yes they can and have, just too much nostalgy in the way of your sight.

  • @spo0o0ky

That's because it IS all today's gamers want. This game, I'll say it; This game wasn't that great. However, it's way better than the crap we get today. The only formidable storyline I've seen in years is the story to the Halo games, and that wasn't even made by the actual creators of the game. I mean, really. I want to see difficult gameplay, a well thought-out storyline, and something other than guns for a weapon!

    Perhaps a game about psychology...

  • @AnonymousJustified thousands of games are released every year, can you say all of them have crappy storylines and easy mode difficulties? hate the bullshit all the nostalgy blinded "old gamers" seem to be thinking this last decade, why can't you just enjoy both old and new games like you did 10 years ago? play Cave Story, Fallout 1, Call of Duty 4(the story feels as real and cold as if you were actually in service), Dead Space, Amnesia, The Witcher 2, Mass Effect 2, Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft

  • @greatrulo

I'm not saying that ALL games seem easy and badly done. I'm saying that MOST do. The ones that do have decent stories, and real difficulty seem pushed under. Call of Duty 4 doesn't feel real. I'll say that today's Indie Games are great, though. Amnesia is okay, but way too cheesy for my taste, and I've been de-sensitized of horror. I've played Diablo and Starcraft, but not Warcraft yet. All of those three are old. The rest, I'll look into.

  • @AnonymousJustified If you did play CoD4's campaign it's impossible you can't feel some sort of attachment to its characters, every time a teamate dies is nearly mind blowing, and neither Starcraft 2 or Warcraft 3 are old, i also meant WoW, you haven't felt real teamwork and accomplishments in games if you haven't raided on a 20 man group, if you remember back in the day there was the same trash we get today, like the mario, zelda and final fantasy copy cats. Pardon my attitude but its true.

  • @greatrulo

Hey, I don't mind your attitude at all. It's your freedom. Anyway, I didn't feel much attachment to CoD 4's storyline. Also, I didn't know you were talking about the newer Blizzard games. Starcraft 2 is good, yeah. Warcraft III? Ehh... And WoW is a game I steer clear of. Something about it is there that I just... It doesn't feel right. Also, the Zelda games are quite fun. Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass were dissapointments, but the rest seem good. Waiting to judge Skyward Sword..

  • @AnonymousJustified I just meant the games that tried and failed to copy them, love Zelda and the rest. Yeah WoW is not for everyone, but for those with lots of time(used to be amongst them) or those that can actually manage their time on it, it's the closest thing to real life as far as "accomplishments" go, now this sounds like a comment coming from a 40 yr old loser, but a little false encouragement never hurts, specially nowadays with all the lonely anonymity people bring to each other

  • @greatrulo

Well, I think our great, confusing wordwall of an argument has finally reached its conclusion. You've convinced me that there are still a lot of great games out there being produced, you just need to search for 'em... Oh, and for god's sake, use a PC to search.

  • @AnonymousJustified i didnt get the PC part, but i did nerd rage big time hehe

  • @spo0o0ky

ADD ON TO LAST COMMENT; REACHED LIMIT

Twilight Princess was too easy and Zant dissapointed me, but the rest of the game was epic. Final Fantasy games above 7 sucked. FF6 was way too badass for comprehension, however. With Mario, well, ya got me on that one. Though the music in the Galaxy games is pretty cool, that's about it.

There is a modern game I can't get enough of, though; Minecraft. It's... Amazing. At first, it sucks, but later... OOooOOooHH...

  • I miss hard games like this and Trigger... everything nowadays are easy.

  • i must and i will play this game right now!!!

  • HELL YEA :)

  • I feel sorry for the 20 people that don't like this opening. One of the best video game openings of all time!!! I did an interperted dance to this song at school!!!!

  • games nowadays suck...

  • @fluffybuddies02 I happen to love Chrono Cross, a lot more then I do Trigger. I was simply enforcing his stereotype that kids these days would call it gay, so I did. If that what he thinks why not give it to him.

  • Better than Chrono Trigger, but just by a lil tiny bit <3

  • 出来たらリメイク版出して欲しいです!!

  • Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Presentation was just flawless, battle was fun, music was epic. We need this and Legend of the Dragoon on the PS store right now.

  • whta is up with everybody being 13 around here? lol but this is still one of my absolute favourite games ever to bad i was very young when i got it and the first disk dosent work at one point in the game

  • Chrono Cross and Legend of Dragoon was the last great RPGs before next gen consoles took over. Im 28 years old and still play my old school RPGs. Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, Legend of Legaia, Lufia 2, FTW!

  • i wish this games is on PSN by the time we have a ps Vita i want to play it on vita

  • Oh, Chrono Cross...

One of the last truly awesome RPGs.

And maybe the game with the best OST in all history.

  • This song gets me so pumped :D

I miss good games like this. That new wretched shit they feed us today can't even begin to compare.

  • 2:22 i don't remember seeing Kid's picture of Lucca burning in the intro before.

  • Kinda reminds me if suikoden for some reason.

  • I never could get into this game. I loved chrono trigger but i didnt like this one because of the 3d, i like 2d games better.

  • @grannybenson This game is much different than Trigger, and really only the battle system is in 3d, since you traverse thru 2d areas (though I still get what you mean). You'd be surprised how much the games have in common, it may just take a while.

  • This completed my Summer of Square soft of the year 2000. I still love this game.

  • This game needs to be re-realesed on DS or psn or both. Even though I still have my ps1 copy I would re buy it for DS so I could take it on the go or from the psn to show my support for the series.

  • I loved the game, the story, teh music, teh characters but there's one thing I couldn't solve, does anyone know where the movie scene that appears in 1:29 of the opening happens during the gamestory? I played the game countless times and I never found it

  • miss playing this game.

gah!! its so hard to find in stores now.

esp. lunar: the silver star story

    :(

  • Chrono Cross is the best game with the best story and music. There's nothing that I don't like about this game! The complicated storyline is what makes me wanna play this game again and again!

  • Replay Replay Replay!!

I don't know this game really, I only subcribed someone who recordes soundtracks. So I heard the soundtrack. Then I saw "Oh there is an opening!" Now I watched this and I want to play this!

  • Is there anyway I can play this on Windows 7? Anyone, help me.. i miss this game so. Darn it. HEEEELP >.<

  • @stonesuffire Epsxe is how I played it

  • @ReallyCurious1 thanks,but i don't get it. what is Epsxe? :)

  • @stonesuffire Epsxe is a Playstation emulator.

  • @stonesuffire GOOGLE

  • @stonesuffire get an emulator man

  • Poor new generation :/

  • I like how you added 30 seconds of silence at the end to help us properly process the epicness that we just witnessed.

  • @gutbolt lol awesome comment

  • chrono trigger is still the best

  • this game was good but unfortunaly this game has been release in wrong time. the years 2000 is almost the end of ps1 game after they release ps2 (i belive is the year 2001) and lot of comment said that this game is too flashy or the character look kinda lame, the graphic wasn't that good compare to ff8 and ff9......that's too bad..to me this game is amazing you can replay to get dif ending def path....i hope they remake or make another chrono cross.

  • Schönes Video beushct mal PrinceIIApple Hat Openings von OnePiece und Naruto =) loht sich und daumen hoch für dieses VIDEO!

  • Harle was such a good character. Chrono cross is a good game, but doesnt beat suikoden imo <3

  • gotta re-play this epic title!!!

  • Cry. Every. Time.

  • Why is this game NOT on the PSN Store. . .I never got a chance at it. :(

  • @BlueFox284 you can download the game on your comp now i play this game on my pc....mostly game on ps1 and ps2, nintendo ds, nintendo 3ds, gamecube, xbox, pc game you can play on your PC (take time to learn how to download and got load of virus shi.t to play free game but i tell ya is it worth it cuz you got to know how to play free game)

  • @trivuong how can u please tell me'

  • @hanjadrew you can google search for ps1 simulator the one i use now is psx 1.6 version.. you can download them by follow instruction after that you download the game (wizard recomended) then extract the file of the game. go to simulator of psx1.6 put on CD image then search the game you just extract then open the files well you got to careful to download psx simulator cuz they may have some virus (who know). for other simulator you just got to google and search for it.

  • It sure brings back memories :) great game

  • My PS1 was stored around my room from 1995 up to 2007 and was thrown away..because I can't find a replacement for a broken lens. Good thing that an emulator was created! =D

  • The song at the beggining kinda sounds like somthing played on naruto..

    <
