wow you got lucky NO BODY WORK, im 14 and my 67 corvair im working on has a decent amount of sheetmetal to be gone through before i can even think of paint or hotroding it
Having a car to work on in high school is something I think every guy wants. I've got a 58 Edsel Pacer 4-door hardtop and a 59 Edsel Villager 9 passenger. I got those when I was a junior in high school. Combined they cost $2100. They both run and the 59 drives but they both need brake work.
My only regret is buying these cars as a junior in high school. I've wanted a project car ever since I was 13 or 14.
that.. my friend, is one peice of... ART! 50's cars are so amazing. it would look so much better with the original grille though.. the spikes kinda killed the front. thats the kind of car that should be all original besides the engine :) If i had that car it would probably be 2 tone. like.. hotrod red with the white on the side
dude i got a 68 fairlane and im rebuilding it to ( im 17) you gotta do what i did trust me paint the engine and engine compartment i sugest ford blue for the engine and gloss black for the compartment thats what i did it looks sick post some more to ok and thers nuthin wrong with black just to dull it should of bin gloss or somthing
dude i got a 68 fairlane my dad gave me trust me take the engine apart panit the heads the block manifold everything and same with the enginge compartment trust me it looks sick i wanna see more and please paint it a different color nuthing rong with black you just got the wrong black and if you paint the engine ford blue /engine gloss black /engine compartment
My dad had a '58 Ford Country Squire station wagon, and I'm POSITIVE the dash was never padded. In fact I've worked on a bunch of '58 Fords, and I've never seen one with a padded dash.
I love that grill with all the pike nuts in it! I'm fairly certain there are joggers in your area that see that thing in their nightmares!
mate, you are a legend, its a lot of work I know I have been doing this same thing since I left school in 66,Im 57 now and Im still playing with FORDs my favorites are 55 to 65,
you said on an earlier post that you dont like having it painted black, well i bet you anything vanilla cream would look nice because that is what i have on my 52GMC, make this your lifetime project, dont stop till you die, and get the hardest stuff done before you get old, that is my plan with my 52 im 18 XD
Kudos to you for choosing a Ford for your first project and a '58 no less. Of the '57-'59 that one seems to be the redheaded stepchild. I agree, the black isn't that great like you said but all that really matters is that you love it regardless! Unperty cars need love too!
Good luck with all your endeavors and adventures with the car! I have my first car still from 1977 and it's not perty but the stories we have together are priceless!
did you ever get it running... i was just watching the videos about it not running after being intalled??? i got a pick up with a Y-block in it... and wasnt running because the damn fuel lines where clogged...
Hahahahaha..one dislike! somebody's jealous! :D
