  • Mind you the demo "Weekend" by singularcrew which is 24 fps fullscreen video for the C64. :)

  • Its good work but its fake. So you should change the title of this video.

  • @MrCauldron It's right there in the video description - that's honest enough. :D

  • AIR - french band , not C64

  • just awesome everything looks like it was painted, just cool,if you future dither those 16color images together, you will get average more of the original quality back.

    anyway this is mind blowing!!!

  • MEANWHILE, IN DENMARK

  • Where's the music from?

  • Nichtmal Manfred Trenz hätte sowas hinbekommen :D Aber coole photoshop-arbeit!!

  • @rgkooper Danke. Bis auf das Herausfummeln der Palette war es hauptsächlich Fleißarbeit. ;)

  • @rgkooper Wie geil!!! Ja nicht mal Manfred Trenz hahahaha! Jetzt mal ohne scheiß :) Ich bin ALT! HAHAHAHA!

  • Awesome! I always wanted to make videos on the commode.

  • Anybody interested in some new Commodore samples?

  • Worst 'how to' video ever... It doesnt show you how... xD

  • air - kelly watch the stars

  • Here's what ACTUAL video looks like on a Commodore 64

    watch?v=75Dht2acVnE

Not that it looks better on the real thing without youtube's compression. The shows were taken from Sabrina's Boys Boys Boys music vid

    .

  • How is this done? Someone should put a "Are you keeping up with the commodore" commercial though the C64 and have it play that.

  • @CoolDudeClem It is already done: watch?v=s_V9Nm_T9FE - it is only B/W, but running on a real C64 with MMC Replay Cartridge

  • Reminds me of the Commodore porn videos I used to have

  • lame..!

  • The FMV on Mega CD games was not much better then this!

  • I'm thinking IDE64 ? :)

  • the original music to this video is awesome: "kelly watch the stars"

  • wie geht das????????????????

  • WTF??

  • It would be cool to make a FMV lasergame on the old c64!

  • weiß hier einer, wie man das hinbekommt?

  • Wenn du die Comments liest - Photoshop. ;)

  • @01Mai1983 via digitizer!

  • @CUR50R

  • Checking the screen, the size is about 240x150 and not at 320x200 resolution.

Resulting in 5070 bytes to handle per frame.

Thinking about 8 fps, a 40K stream is needed. Looks like someone has a harddrive connected to the C64.

  • @olynxmano: There were mod projects that enabled HDs for the C64. But you completely forget that compression techniques were an integral part of that era. You don't need nearly as much space for storage. Otherwise you couldn't have done most things on the C64.

  • @olynxmano >>>"Checking the screen, the size is about 240x150 and not at 320x200 resolution."

This is the Commodore's multicolor mode, so only 160 pixels across. And the number of scanlines is 200. 160x200

    .

I remember downloading videos like this when I owned a C64 but they were only 1-2 seconds long. Maybe the guy is using a 1 megabyte expansion to extend the time - 1024/64 == 16 * 2 seconds == 32 seconds. So it's possible in theory

    .

  • This type of video would take 9000 bytes per frame, not 32K . (8K screencontent plus 1k colour ram). Seeing the low framerate and some SID played, it is possible, I guess, if the screendata comes uncompressed from an external drive.

  • this cant be running on C=64..these guys on the clips are from the group Pulp from the 90's.

and the performance seems to me to good for C=64. Alltough in the last years it was amazing what programmers have done on that thing:)

  • Nope, it's the band Air, who I think are French.

Um, just because it's an 80s computer doesn't mean nobody can use one to make a FMV now. I reckon this is genuine!

  • about the music:yes..they're air..and the video is "kelly watch the stars"

  • If it's not running on the C64, it's an EXTREMELY good mock-up. I'm sure it is. It could be running on the SuperCPU, a 20MHz cpu upgrade for the C64 with 4mb of memory (which would certainly be enough to run it) but I'm willing to bet that it's running on an unmodified '64.

  • I believe the author has already stated that this is *not* running on a c64, but is made to appear so (which is cool!). The music is a SID tune from the C64 for a game called "shellshocked"

  • yes this is real he could be using a mmc replay cartridge like in youtube video " isengard real c64"

  • I can't think of a good enough sentence to tell why you are the biggest moron I have seen today, I have to let you off.

  • The guys are the music group AIR from France

  • I am quite sceptical

It looks like about 12 frames per second at least

    12 x 32 sec = 384 pics

    384 x 8 Kb = 3 Mb !

  • Do consider the images are 16 color 320 x 200.

  • If they are 320 x 200 x 16 colours, then that makes it even worse. Each image would be 32kb, so the total size = 12.2mb

Don't tell me it's doing delta compression to use less space, no way the processor has the power for that.

  • mh dont think its fake. you can load that little clip in fact in multicolor in a RAM extension or just load it from disk. seems not impossible

  • hahaha got hit in the head, that song is almost the same tone on Defender of the crown. C=64

  • Where did you get the SID file from?

  • It's from the game "Shellshock" from 1993.

  • Er...

Im English? Mein Deutsch ist schlect.

*What i was going for: "Can you say that in english? my german is terrible."

  • What do you want me to say? There is not much spoken word in the video. ;)

  • didn't realse the info box was Auf Englisch, too...sorry.

  • Where is the clip originated from? A movie? Music video?

  • The clip is "Kelly watch the stars" by Air.

    C64 look made in Photoshop.

  • Videos on 8-bit computer! Very well!!!

  • Where can I download the demo?

    It's a very nice demo!

  • What you use MMC64 , IEC2ATA , .... ??? Could You put Yours converter somewhere?

  • that was cool I never thought a C64 could play video, can you do more videos of the C64 playing videos like something recognizable

  • thats a video for "Air - Kelly watch the stars ". great song =)
