Wow Taekwondo is very diffrent from karate. I'm a 1st degree in karate and by watching people use taekwondo just blows my mind how diffrent they are. May I ask how you learn to spar in whatever studio you learned from? My karate studio learned by experience (Although we only begin after learning a few basic moves in normal classes). But I have seen some taekwondo studios teach with teachers on a matt showing counters and stuff. Thanks!
haha I am a 3rd degree. stop the hate. you know what? sometimes this is just what people enjoy. just seriously, stop dissing. btw: i saw someone i know in this xD
Watching that made me feel uncomfortable. I feel bad for her. She has probably worked really hard; however, she sucks. I'm sorry her husband was forced to pay for her rediculous hobby.
Wow! What awesome technique! That was so feaking cool. The ATA has seriously set the bar pretty damn high. I'm not sure there's any school that can compare to them. God help the person who tries and mess with them for real. Seriously!
the only thing the ATA is good for is physical fitness, they dont teach you anything you would use on the streets. IM a 1st degree and i feel like i dont have ANY fighting skills. i believe that Title Boxing Club helps you get fit AND teachs fighting skills. ATA is a thing of the past.
@pyramidhead138 then one of two things have happened here... #1 the most common, you dont spar with intensity. I have preteen color belts who would laugh if a bully would even come close to them. #2 your instructor doesnt care that you spar like a wimp.
To answer which one of these is affecting you, see how many students in your school are state champion or world champion in sparring.
@cbox121 i actually havent trained with the ATA since i was 24 (going on 28 now) anyway, when i rejoined at 23 i could never go to sparring classes cause i couldnt afford the gear. 200 some dollars for that stuff is beyond ridiculous. besides, i dont wanna learn so called skills i would never use on the streets. the ATA hands out black belts like milkshakes.
@cbox121 The only thing I have to say about ATA is you know how to run a business. You ALOT more credible then USSD. and some of your fighters are decent. But as far as over marketing martial arts and make it look tacky is your sin. Sorry, if that sounds rude. :)
@cbox121 It isn't rude at all. He shouldn't be a 1st degree black belt. I don't believe in a belt system, but he didn't earn that level. I do have blacks belt and a little higher, and they suck badly. The teacher's are pretty damn good though.
@Bluerocka145 Ata there are three payment plans Black belt club which is the solid color belt, this is 80 dollars and you only take your belt class.next is master's club where you learn two weapons and break your boards, this is 120 dollars, masterclub members have a black stripe through they're belt and the enxt and Highest is the leadership program where you can do XMA (Xtreme martial arts which is a mix of Gynamstics and martial arts),your board breaks and your weps. This the gold stripe
@ttusna so why the break in the sparring rules? how come ITF is the only TKD that hits to the head with hands? Are they the only ones who think logically about sparring and fighting?
@DarthVakku101 I too have wondered about why other TKD styles don't hit head with hands, I guess you're right when you say ITF is the only one which thinks logically about sparring and fighting. Because in sparring we do hit head with our hands plus we train other forms of fighting besides sparring, for an example ground moves, joint locks (at least in Finland)...most people just doesn't know about it.
@ttusna I've always been in open competitions, and we always hit to the head with hands. It seems that all TKD people (except ITF) think that no one will punch them in the head in a street fight and it will never go to the ground :P
@xxxPhoenixDownxxx you do that for one steps but not in actual sparring competition. That's what I don't understand. One Steps and forms have head punches but not the acutal sparring?
i did tkd for two and a half years so i'm no expert, but when she was doing the 360 turns i saw how she clearly ''broke the flow'' of her movements, kinda hard to explain but look closely and you'll see it. other then that, good form. to the music does'nt really fith here, i would've prolly gone with the theme from ''one upon a time in china''.
oh yeah, at 0:22, WHY IN THE NAME OF ZEUS'S HOLY NIPPLES DO WE SEE A GROUP OF TEN YEAR OLDS WITH BLACK BELTS? just wondering.
theoreticaly it only takes about 4 or 5 years to become a black belt so Im assumeing they started young. Either that or they are in a program for a younger age group and once they reach the age for adults will work on advanceing in belts for that age group.
sorry, but if your school has ten year old black belts, then it's a McDojo. and if you wanna know why ten year olds SHOULDN'T be black belts, PM me, cuz the incomin lecture wont fit in these little boxes.
Being a third degree black belt through an ATA school, you are partially correct. ATA makes money off of the new black belts, but the real journey starts at the 2nd degree and higher level. My form, balance, power, and speed has increased at least 10 fold since I earned my 2nd degree in 2005.
@Moosh50 cause they were tiny tigers [the classes for younger kids and ranked up which how they are black belts don't let size fool you lol i let that happen to me
'don't let size fool you'? what is that supposed to mean?
User WTFMusicPerson already filled me in to the whle 'tiny something' program, which sounds kinda ok, as long as it's made clear that they're not 'real' black belts, and once they start training in the adult groups they go back to colored belts.
@Moosh50 in ATA it takes a few years which is 2 1/2 years to become black belt i know all about ATA cause i was the grandmaster's student and i meant don't let size fool you as a metafore [however its spelled doesn't matter]
I know that it's a metaphore, just don't understand what you mean with it in this case. Are you really saying that I should consider those kids as seriosu black belts after they spend few years dancing(or doing forms, whichever you wanna call it) and have their daddies pay every few months for a new belt?
Unless you have HUGE talent, there should be no way to reach first dan in less then 4-5 years.
then again this was the girls ring. im not being sexist im just saying its realistically true that the men's rings are much more competitive and better.
i've never been to falls... it looks weird and all with the bleachers over on the top its like the parents cant talk to their kids lol... i like spring better.. more people need to go to blackbelt nationals too.
I am in ata as well as a first degree black belt fourth blackbelt in oklahoma. first at my school and curently one of the highest ranks except for my instructors.
Ok hold up. WTF? WTF is this? I just came across this videos on here. So now there are 4 different TKD systems? You have to ITF, WTF, ATA and those TKD schools that are neither part of all three which is the one I came up in.
Wow, I left ATA 15 years ago after spending 3 years on-and-off at the academy. I finally quit the academy when I moved up to middle school to concentrate on baseball.
I have to say, being a part of ATA was a great experience. 4 district first place titles and 3 regional first place titles in form. Oh yeah baby!!!!
no now we focus of choong jung 2 for the ed/black belts and red belt testings the 81 move form is for first degree called shim jung as I think it is spelled.
No. The First Degree form is Shimjun which is 81 moves long. The red/black form is ChungJung 2, which is 46 moves. Shimjun was never a requirement for testing *to* First Degree; it's the requirement for testing to Second Degree.

Let it be known that it's ATA that thinks nobody will punch them in the head. Tae Kwon Do itself is better than that.

@Mulanishere ATA is the ebst and Ata doesn't punch to the head because of injuries in the past that requiree the safety regulations to be changed

@DarthVakku101 In ITF we do hit head with our hands. It's in WTF and ATA and every other sports "taekwon-do" people don't hit head with their hands.
