  • That solo just makes me wanna cry... I love this song... I love opeth

  • a capo on a bass? AWESOME

  • best lineup right there

  • It's because it's very simple music to play. Less views = less dislikes. I think this is the only good song they play. IMO

  • @daysel123 I hope you're joking.

  • @daysel123 i just hopefully think that you are a true opeth fan and just want to make a good sense of humor !!!

  • 7:45 : simon and garfunkel - Scarborough Fair

  • @Snutrate wich part? i don't recognize this riff in Scarborough Fair

  • "Time for the song that will get us chicks backstage...." .. :D He´s waaay to awesome. :D

  • I get to see them and Katatonia tomorrow!!!!!

  • i Like the Vlad T-shirt

  • Whoo. There's playing at the same place (in connecticut) in just a few weeks...

  • i'm just getting into opeth. i heard the first couple chords of this and i HAVE to get the album.

  • This is from the album "Damnation". This album along with it's companion album "Deliverance" tells a story with "damnation" as the softer part and "deliverance" as the heavier part. I never liked death metal at all until I heard the title song "Deliverance" from the album. Then when I heard Opeth's album "Blackwater Park" all of a sudden I grew big enough balls to play death metal. "Damnation", "Deliverance" (2003) "Blackwater Park" (2001) These 3 are totally a must and you will thank me later.

  • @thelema3131 truer words have never been spoken, my brother. I started with Blackwater Park.

  • The person who posted this video..Thank you :)

  • The dislike bar is as big as my dick! Wait, that's not right...

  • Fuck yeah! Listen to how amazingly accurate this live song replicates the song on the album. These are the type of bands that deserve millions of dollars. Not some marketed puppet that lip syncs on stage and doesn't even write their own music.

  • i absolutely love playing the solo's from this song - beautiful guitar writting :)

  • Most soothing metal song ever

  • look at all those long-haired swedish/polish/norwegian mutherfuckers at the beginning O.o

  • @keverinkarama lol, I bet about 99% of them are British. Recorded at the Camden Roundhouse. England was where Opeth 'made it big' in the early 2000s.

  • @keverinkarama I'm not really sure why you used Polish. I would have expected Swedish/Finnish/Norwegian to be a more sensible suggestion.

  • "Time for the song that will get us chicks backstage" = greatest pickup line ever. Ranks up there with "Ayyyyy" by Fonzie in the top 10 best "chick-getting" phrases of all time.

  • @snuffleguff or "how you dooooin?" b Joey Tribiani!

  • That guitar is so pretty!!!!

  • @MikalAKuszajewski PRS dude, imo the best looking guitars in the world...

  • That keyboard part is amazing...I wish it would go on forever

  • i was afraid to push the "like" button because the music would be interrupted by the reload of the video...

  • @holzfilet94 you must have one terrible computer mr.

  • @ZIDBULA oh no. i just don´t know when the website reloads. guess it does when i push the like button without being logged in. but i didn´t want to try.

  • I'm a singer of Brutal Metal band, but... maikel, have a voice awesome... sing like a angel, growl like satan!

  • Opeth are inspirational

  • @DunkieFlugel Well... How can someone not like THAT ?

  • Sorry guys, I'd rather listen to Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj....

    Thumbs down!!! :/

  • @RandomShellAccount Thumbs down to u mate

  • I go to sleep to this song...so relaxing and soothing to the soul. Love it.

  • This is inteligent music, is not all about shredin and double bass drum destruction, Opeth, Porcupine Tree and Early Dream Theater are my fave bands.

  • man Bloodbath(mikael's other band) and Opeth. They are both great.

  • Who's the guy with the guitar at the end of the video?

  • @AGuitarHero605 A roadie or tech guy exchanged guitars out...

  • @AGuitarHero605 Jesus Christ.

  • Vlad the impaler.

  • @DunkleFlugel

    I agree! :)

  • @DunkleFlugel I've always thought the same thing. Opeth is too artsy for the wanna be metalheads. Opeth is in a whole new level (complexity, vocals, and real talent).

  • @DunkleFlugel yeh, but don't flatter yourself :)

  • @DunkleFlugel abso-fuckin-lutely. i love this band.

  • @DunkleFlugel The only thing it shows is that it is more directed towards a smaller audience as they're not that big outside of people listening to metal, it's not a show of intelligence that a video gets many thumbs up on youtube.

Sure opeth is one of the best bands I know, but it doesn't make me more intelligent because of that. Neither other people who listen to them. It's much too elitist.

  • @swedenxtrem I didn't say Opeth makes you intelligent, but Opeth fans (or the people who watch Opeth videos, call it what ever you want) obviously have knowledge in music and know how to appreciate music. It maybe sounds boastful, but I see more and more (stupid) metalheads who lots of metal genres are closed books to them and they think they can describe metal by their own tastes. What I try to tell you is that I think people who listen to Opeth are obviously open-minded, and that's what i like

  • @DunkleFlugel Perhaps so, but then again I see many opeth fans being the generic metal head who just likes it for the growling O_o not appreciating much else.

  • @swedenxtrem Sounds weird. How could you just like the growls in a band like Opeth where half of the time it's clean vocals? X_x

  • @DunkleFlugel As in they listen mostly to the songs with more growl O_O and saying "now the sucky part comes" whenever there are clean vocals.

  • @DunkleFlugel Agree, I do.

  • @DunkleFlugel yep i completely agree

  • @DunkleFlugel I think that's because a lot of opeth fans aren't metal heads. I'm not a metal head at all, but they've been my favorite band for the last 10 years.

  • @DunkleFlugel And yet some idiot tries to get as many thumbs ups on his comment as possible, real intelligent -.-

  • @DunkleFlugel

somebody is a bit up their ass

  • @DunkleFlugel porcupine tree is along the same lines

  • @Str8Faced I agree. Those bands are what I call metal! Like Steven said in a recent interview: "Music has to be heavy, but it doesn't mean brutal, dark or fast. Heavy means it has to give strong emotions and deep feelings. Touching your heart. That's what I call heavy. And it's not necessarily metal."

  • @DunkleFlugel Shame they ruined it with Heritage

  • Comment removed

  • @Bio69 I don't think so. I love Heritage. Perhaps they should have make an album beetween Watershed and Heritage, the change is too brutal for some fans! ^^

I hope you'll like it one day :)

  • @DunkleFlugel You're a dumbass, I like Opeth but I HATE the elitism carp that's all around them. More intelligent? What the fuck. Then we have a bunch of retards sayin' they love Opeth just to appear intelligent and musically grown men.

  • Comment removed

  • @DunkleFlugel I like how you think. We as a species could use you in a think-tank to do important things. I never would have thought a video's like/dislike ratio would be directly correlated to viewer intelligence. And here, I thought I was the more intelligent metalhead.

  • I wish I were a chic.

  • PLEEEEASE let them play the U.K this year, and Porcupine Tree, i'd pay a lot to see them both together!!

  • HAHA a swede at the last second " KOM IGEN NU GÖBBAR!" HAHAHAHA

  • @UlfLundell HAHAHAHHA så jävla skön kille

  • time for the song that get us chicks backstage xD

  • 2 people don't like this??? How?????

  • sadlly, all three chicks at this opeth concert were too fat to get through the backstage door ;( they're good but they annoy me with their elitist nerdy music and "in ur face" progressiveness. i also dislike their fans who are mostly modern day metalheads who also have beards so they can look just as fine, who are good guitarists, like the middle ages and are kinda the elitist douchebags of the alternative scene. god i hate them. this music paints quite a picture though, kinda like it

  • @cracknigga

i think you can't look at opeth's music in a way that they try to make elitist music. it's just their hommage to the prog rock bands they grew up to. saw nile a few weeks back on their tour through europe. wanna talk about elitist metal douchebags? ther's four of 'em right there... came, played, no encore, minimal communication with the crowd. terrible show.

  • Posiblemente la banda más exquisita de los últimos tiempos

  • One thing I really love about Opeth is that they sound the same live as they do in the studio....

  • @MrTestMusic That's because unlike a lot of artists, they're all actually talented. EXTREMELY talented.

  • @DavidRayT Lol. That's exactly what I was implying. ;)

  • 4:40 ... no words..

  • Da orgasmo quando Mikael alza la levetta ed emette quell'acuto *_*

  • I just remembered how I fucking adore that song. So much true, deep emotion. So clever maid. So complete. So fucking good played. Music at its best. I just hope I can reach that highs one day.

  • the two that disliked this video were probably killed by mother's ghost...

  • @pallavsinner LMFAOOOOOOOOO

  • the two that disliked this video were probably killed by mother's ghost...

  • Time for the song.. that will get us chicks backstage

  • who the fuck disliked this????D:

  • such a sexy song

  • my favorite calm song of opeth, it's so enigmatic

  • Martin Lopez best drummer i ever heard

  • Two guys saw their girlfriend head backstage after this concert...

  • lol time for the song that get uss chicks backstage got to remember that one xD

  • "Time for this song that will get us chicks backstage." *grin*... as if dozens of chicks wouldn't line up for each of them without WIndowpane being performed.

  • if you look at the thumps of this video(you will see very small amount of percent on dislikes...) at this song is 2/371 far less than 1%

  • best.song.ever.

  • simplemente hermoso....♥

  • 4:42-5:53 is the most beautiful solo EVER

  • The outro sounds a shitload like Mogwai...

  • They could play Tiny Tim's "Tip toe through the tulips" and still get chicks back stage. Infact they could just stand there staring into space for a few minutes and get chicks backstage.

  • Salvador Dali Tshirt FTW!

  • 0:10 = real Opeth fans. 0:46 = the 1 or 2 normal fans.

  • I'm so high... and momh om omgh omg this is the best thing iver ever heard.

  • i hate that lopez isn't playing.. he has such wonderfull sense for rythm. such an intelligent drumer

  • I love Mikael's facial expressions as he plays. He really gets so into his music.

  • Per does a great job on the Nord Electro...

  • I think axe brings a lot of new dimensions though and while ill agree I prefer the Lamentations version of this particular song, this concert is WAY tighter overall than the previous... A big reason of that is Axe's steady play. He might lack a little of Lopez's jazzy swing, relatively speaking, but otherwise he's great and has taken them to a whole new level in many respects.

  • He's really helped Opeth develop a tighter, as you already stated, "metal" sound which allows many more layers to be used, ala Watershed, but I still believe Lopez brought that special "something" to Opeth that they can't seem to get back. Axe seems a bit limited when it comes to the softer side of drumming, he's much too precise (if there is such a thing lol) and can't seem to get that chill, almost tribal at times, vibe.

  • @LastDayInSin Yeah, you make a fair point about the "precision" of Axe's drumming on some of the softer sections, Lopez has him beat there. On the other hand, precision is something Lopez sorely lacked (imo) during the live performances. I've seen opeth like 7 times since 2000 and being a drummer myself, always noticed tempo problems.. It's a give and take of abilities and i quite enjoy the drumming on watershed. I do agree that ultimately, the classic lineup had a special chemistry though.

  • @conservatory Absolutely. People are so against change... I totally love this album.

  • Time for the song, that will get us chicks backstage XD

  • i didnt think a capo would really be necessary on a bass. but peters guitar is beautiful.

  • @Tjuguskegg666 Best, yes. Biggest, no. Unless you live in Scandinavia. Here in the states, the only two prog metal bands that 99%, (of the people that have heard of metal, which most haven't), of the population knows is Dream Theater and Tool. Even the metalheads I know don't know Opeth... : (

  • Am I the only one who find lamentations really superior to this?

  • @Ibanezium Yeah, Lamentations was a completely different experience. Especially this track. The lighting, Lopez's drumming, even Michael's voice had a different quality.

  • Peter's PRS is fucking beautiful

  • @krookedjay i was thinking the exact same thing

  • Man, I love how simply mellow this tune is

...thats it, I gotta go buy this DVD

  • TRUE MUSICIANS ---I NEVER GET TIRED OF THESE DUDES

  • My favourite Opeth Song. Musical and Lyrical genious/Brilliance

  • Sounds kind of flat compared to the Lamentations version.

  • OMG! Peter's PRS modern Eagle 2 makes me want to jizz everywhere!!!!!!!!! Just look at that guitar! Beautiful guitar, beautiful design, Outstanding sound!!!!! Love it! Opeth is my favorite band in the world and they're probably the only band that has style!! Whose with me!

  • nop dislikes this video shows how great they are

  • I love the WOO during the bend at 5:36

  • Vlad Tepes Shirt ! :D

  • opeth is truly talented and are in the music business to entertain. not for the money

  • Thanks for the upload! I have the CD version of this show, but it's great to see the video, too. This band is amazing, by the way. Mikael Akerfeldt has my favorite clean singing voice AND my favorite growl in all of metal. And he's a phenomenal guitarist, too.

  • "Martin Lopez, ex-drummer of Amon Amarth and Opeth, was so kind to inform us he's been working on a new project, entitled Soen. Lopez will be handling the drums duties, and he has formed the band together with bassist Steve DiGiorgio (ex-Death, ex-Testament, ex-Iced Earth, and a shitload of other bands), Kim Platbarzdis on guitar and vocalist Joel Ekelöf."

  • Hey, this band sounds like Opeth. :D

  • i prefer the lamentations version! but this one also rock (but i really miss lopez...)

  • dudes.....give axe some time.......opeth has a laid back drumming style and he has to adapt to that......but judging 'watershed' drumming was ok

  • god they play such beautiful guitars

  • 7.44 - amazing - maybee some material from his upcoming acoustic solo album :O truely amazing <3

  • @LaWey Yeah i hope it is. Even though it is only about 5 secs of playing is sounds awesome =)

  • just a tad too fast for my liking, but otherwise wonderful!

  • @lukevertiis It's worth a snigger, they're obviously doing it on purpose. Do I really have to point it out?

  • Great performance as always =)

I can't wait to see them at the Albert hall in two weeks. It will be epic.

Is that guitar part Mikael plays from 7.45 - 7.57 from any song in particular? I really like it and i must know!

  • @ClaudeMcBanister its nothing opeth has done, i'll give u that much

  • lopez is a much better than axe,axe doesnt do subtle

  • Yes, I'm agree with you

  • solo = perfection

  • Damn i don't know why, but if i where a chic i would have the strong need to get backstage^^

  • just noticed they all use capo's.

  • Look at the bottom right corner of the screen at 4:50 for a laugh...

  • @360MandaloreX

lol, didn't notice that 'till now.

  • @Jakedunc Really? He was a phenom of a drummer, but I thought Axe was a perfect fill

  • @Jakedunc Just a little excited

  • i dont get it... whats there?

  • @imjowsef some guy and girl moving their heads in tune with the music lol looks kinda funny

  • @ArmenianAssassin

OH!! I see it now! lol... they are a bit hypnotized by the music XD Cant say i blame 'em

  • @360MandaloreX

what are we laughing at! im oblivious

  • @80smetalchild Whenever the camera switches back to the crowd - check the bottom right side of the screen!

  • @360MandaloreX

ohh hahhah those kids remind me of me when i saw opeth XD

  • @360MandaloreX they look high lmao

  • @360MandaloreX haha thats really funny. lol

  • @360MandaloreX LOL hahahah you mother fucker xD hAHAHHAHA

  • @360MandaloreX BAHAHA! XD You can't help but join in the fun!

  • @360MandaloreX Oh! You mean those two boy just moving to the groove of the song. Took me awhile to notice it. I started laughing when I saw it!!!! XD

  • @360MandaloreX hahaha

  • @360MandaloreX This one made my day :D:D

  • @360MandaloreX HAha, I just pee'd a little!!

  • @360MandaloreX Well spotted I had to look a couple of times to pick it up, gold.

  • @360MandaloreX I've looked at the video so many times!!!! And All I can guess is the two guys dancing back and forth???

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • That bend at 1:19 gives me chills everytime I listen it, one of my all time favorite songs.

  • god i love peter's modern eagle!

  • I love that their live show is just a bunch of dudes playing music. No big lights, fire, dancing bitches. Not that I don't like to see that in a show, but sometimes just letting the music do the work is the best. Especially when you have someone as talented as Opeth. I <3 Opeth!!!

  • It's just that some bands cannot imprese with the majesty of their music alone.

Opeth don't fall into that category so no big lights, fire or dancing bitches for them.

  • impress*

  • @viol3ntviol3t watch quo vadis play live, they have strippers on stage, and one of the best metal drummers of all time + a fretless bass.

    you cant go wrong!

  • Reading a few later comments, a do agree this is a tad bit faster version but IMO don't really care too much because love this song. Amazing when it's live, always wanted to see them again.
