I really liked this piece. It's good-natured and beautifully crafted.

I have one problem with it.

The moral of the story is to be yourself. But the bear only found superficial friendships when he wasn't himself. Instead, he won superficial friends who previously wanted nothing to do with him, by offering free pushes on his swing.

We put up flyers to find all the kids. What you don't see are all their parents sitting behind the scenes.

The main actress had been in a few short films before I cast her, and she was wonderful. The little red head, Faith, had been in my first short film. And the blond girl at the end, Carolyn, was in another friends short film.

well done on the blending of CGI and live film, what kind of camera did you shoot the live shots with?

Shot on an Arri SR-2 if I remember correctly. A relatively simple 16mm camera that we shot as Super16. And I think we shot about 600 feet of EXR 100T... again, if I remember correctly. It's been a while.

We didn't use any lights. Just reflector boards. And we had a crappy old dolly I snagged from the school. A few apple boxes, a couple friends to get sound and keep the camera working... that was about it. It was my smallest shoot at the time, and probably the one that turned out best.
