We found a dead sea turle in the Outer banks, too. You can't see it that well in our video but it is in our video. I was thinking of putting a video up of when we found it so people can see it better but I haven't yet. Poor turtles. :(

I am a sea turtle biologist. This is a loggerhead sea turtle, which is the most common sea turtle in North Carolina. It is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. And you're right, this turtle may have died due to natural causes. However, of the 125 strandings we have had in North Carolina so far this year, something around a half of them can be attributed to some kind of human interaction (hooked on fishing line, hit by a boat, drowned in a pound net).
