This might sound crazy but you do get used to it, although my first time in Bangkok traffic was a baptism by fire...
It's not pleasant doing this as a daily commute, but occasionally isn't too bad. You should always wear a charcoal lined mask though, they still use aesbestos-lined brake-pads in Thailand!
@WatchRyder of course there are worse here at me in Croatia average salary is 900$, in west elite are now trying to protect them self against people via controlled socialism and high taxes and in china via controlled capitalism... meaning globalist enslavement, Thailand seems to have its own traditional agenda
Lived in Thailand for a while , traffic jams on Suhcomvit Road are Legendary... drove a Chevy diesel van from Maisie( way up north Thai-Lao- Burma border) to Bangkok in 10 hrs ... at night..
It is getting ridiculously funny after a while. I actually live next to Taksin Bridge and I have been doing that route a thousand times on my 1000cc.. It is always a pleasure in rush hour! I've filmed it, but in a different speed though;) Cheers
Yeah this video was a one-off groove as I was travelling through Bangkok at the time.
I was loaded to the max with a tank-bag, back-pack and twin saddle-bags so I didn't want to throttle up too crazy... :)
You have the 1000cc bike now? Cool. I've been tempted with getting an old school GSX 1100 that's going for sale for about 150,000 baht. But we'll have to see.
@WatchRyder Bangkok traffic is awesome:) Driving a big bike here is better work out than going to the gym!
I've got a 2009 zx-10r which I paid 650k for at the kawasaki dealer (same price as my home county so I was happy with the deal).. the R1 goes for 870k so it is a bargain:)
Getting an old school GSX1100 for 150k sounds great and IMO you should go for it.. just have a second look at the paperworks so it is legit..
It's cool man, in Bangkok the normal rules are crazy, so actually going to the wire *actually* can work in your favour. But it's if you make a habit of it that you can become unstuck...
That is just INSANE, your heart must have been pumping like crazy ? Half of the times i would'nt know what to do, other than stop, which i believe would just create more chaos :)
It would be nice to have a bike during the 5:00 traffic cuz it gets pretty horrendous here(Nashville, TN). But, one would have to be careful because the police would be waiting somewhere in the mess to give you a big ticket. Still, it would be nice:)
Very nice. I have always wanted to ride a big bike through traffic in asia. I did that a lot on a scooter in Taiwan, but I'm curious what that would be like on a big bike.
I thought 400's would be great to start on with regards to sport bikes although 600's are good beginner bikes too. My first sports bike was the 2007 CBR 600RR and I was confident on it within about an hour.
A true testament to Japanese technology. This is why I have always owned Jap bikes and despite liking the sound of Duke engine I am hesitant to switch...
CBR 400......I used to have one of those when I was a kid. Perfect bike for BKK. Great ride. I'm envious! Looking forward to getting up north to go play in the mountians after the new year. Chang Mai to Mae Sot here we come. Yippy!
Hey WR, T_Dog here! Nice video. It is pretty tame though, as you didn't have many bikes or sidecars coming at you like we do often here in Chiang Mai. I'll try to take some video during rush hour and post. Great job of timing the traffic slots WR!
Only a matter of time before someone loses concentration, doesn't check a mirror or fiddles with a stereo knob and pulls into you. Simple percentage game.
My folks went out to Thailand a few years ago and the told me about the bikers there. They were amazed that there were no crashes :)
I agree....I have broken bones on bikes although it doesn't put me off. The truth is that for me...bikes are an escape from the stresses of everyday life. 400's are no longer sold in the UK nowadays. It's to do with our license system which takes away their commercial value.
Is there a size limitation on bikes in thailand? cause I would really love to go there for awhile but my bike is a cbr 600 stunt piece. an Can you give a vid of your cbr400? Don't think I have ever seen one,not something we have here in USA

I envy you now :-) And as mentioned: brave. Looks like we have the same ideas when it comes to driving, pushing your bike through the trafick but in a safe and efficient way. Might look more scary than it actually is. I really look forward to february and the 7 months after that, I miss my bike. Thanks for the upload.

Yep, thats an ordinary day in BKK.
Try riding with a motorcycle taxi, a near death experience.

It's worth noting that riding a bicycle (as opposed to a motorbike) is probably unwise in bKK

udical 1 year ago
@udical
In the provinces it's about 30k baht a month for high school.
For Bangkok, about 40k - 60k a month.

@WatchRyder that s great, 60000 is more than in Italy - member of socialistic EU BORG hole, wonderful western commie propaganda here

Yeah, Italy's not the worst EU country though, some suffer more than others.
In Italy you've still got some rights I think.

So cool man. But i m scared to ride a bike. BTW, are bikes allowed in highways or expressways in Thailand?
seuquin 1 year ago
@seuquin
On highways, yes.
On expressways, no.
I've managed to sneak onto one once successfully but if you get caught and there's an expressway policeman there you'll be fined and turned around.

It was a bit on certain areas.
It's quirky but you go on auto-pilot a bit and just try and 'zone-in' to what's going on around you.
The only dangertime is usually doors opening on the inside lane and other bikes pulling out between jammed up traffic.
WatchRyder 2 years ago

It's ok once you are used to it, but as an every day event I wouldn't advise it. You'd get tired and lose the passion for biking.
I know big biker riders in Bangkok who usually ride big cc scooters in the city, and big bikes for outside.
Having said that riding through bangkok to get elsewhere is cool on a big bike :)
