they are infiltrated in the community, offer "protection" to them (usually from rival gangs of drug dealers, from other "favelas"). this problem could be easily solved, bombing the favelas and killing the drug dealers. but what about the civilians? the population? those poor people that wake up early every single day to go to work and try to make a living? is it fair to sacrifice them? i'm sorry, but i can't agree with this. find another way in. spies, snipers, whatever. but not harming kids.
I appreciate your point of view and I can see that you're sincere but we're talking about missile launching terrorists here, not drug dealers. Drug dealers are scum and their products are poison but I'd rather have drug dealers in the neighborhood than missile launching terrorists. Wouldn't you?
I think it's also a question of degrees. I think using air strikes to stop explosive wielding terrorists is appropriate, but I think it would be going a bit far to target drug dealers in the same way.

1) Delibrately shooting rockets into civilian areas with the intent to kill civilians is not a "mistake". It's a crime.
2) This is NOT a "military demonstration". It is an action with the purpose of destroying Hamas capability of harming Israeli citizens.
3) Playing the apologist for terrorists is being a pawn of terrorists.
