my son had 1 year before ross konno modified with pulmonary valve homograft in ksa he is doing well but the echographie showed that the valve become naroow they want to make baloon dilation plus may be stent or changing the valve what do u think and there is cases like my son case,if they will replace the valve it will take how long to be replaced and is the baloon dilation effectif on homograft valve????

Can I ask a question? There is a weird noise in about 4:12-4:13. Where does it come from? Is it because the vessels are being cauterized?

Excellent video! I am going to have heart surgery in about six months. As a scientist myself (M.S. Biochemistry), I'm obviously very curious. This was an excellent video providing visibility into heart surgery. Thanks for sharing this video with the public for educational purposes!

It´s funny!! Everybody is thankfull just to the surgeon, but the truth is there is someone else who keeps the patient alive while the procedure is done,the perfusionist and he is so important as the surgeon and even the anesthesiologist.

I´m really sad cuz perfusionist class has no value at all :S

You're absolutely right. The perfusionist is critical to the success of an open heart operation. We have the best perfusion team in the world, and I thank them every day for the incredible work they do. I give them credit in every youtube video, because I know we could not perform these operations without them.

It's not that bad, you could get used to it and become a surgeon.

You have to be dedicated and gentle, and we need more great surgeons, so don't give up.

I'm 14, and I have aortic stenosis, and in a folder that my hospital gave me it says that everyone who has it needs an operation to correct it at some point in their life. Does anybody know if this is true in mild cases?

i had the first surgery when iwas 3 aand then in london when i was 6 .. now im 15 and i hope i wont need to do it again =S

i had this done when i was 4 and a half years....the doctors said i would only live to 9 years if i didnt have it done,,,,,i am now 18!!

My son had the Ross-Konno at 1 week old and is doing amazing ! He is now nearly 5 years old.

My Son is about to have this done his average pressure is 30mmHg with a peak of 80mmHg, do you remember what your sons reading were. How was he before the op and after the op and how long did he take to recouver. We are now on our 5th consultant due to staff changes and very worried.

My daughter has had several heart procedures already and is 2 months old. Once she is a little bigger doctors are wanting to perform the Ross-Konno procedure. I was very unsure about this but it helps to know that there are others out there that have been through this before. Thank you for sharing!

Louis is now 7 and has now had the pulmonary valve replacement 18 months ago. He is doing amazing and was in and out of hospital in 5 days after open heart surgery !!!

We are overwhlemed with the surgeons, nurses and consultants they are amazing XXXXX
